  1. Well dropping my chair won't really work with my desk so it's time to find something else to do. I'll keep hunting around or maybe just have something built that is similar to the Ofrei table top, but wider to accommodate my arms.
  2. You know, that's not a bad idea. Just drop my chair lower Of course, the one nice thing about the little table top bench is that you are sitting properly, and it has the rails around the sides and back to prevent bits from rolling off the work surface. Maybe the trick is to build a little desk top board with rails along the side and lower the chair too? I just got a nice Dazor drafting light on the bay for $9.99 so I've got a good light to work with now
  3. Hi Folks, Been searching and searching for a table top bench to work on watches. I have found several versions of this one: That one would be fine, but I really don't need the drawers or storage space as I am also looking for a nice wood machinists tool box. Any interesting table top solutions out there?
  4. Man that's amazing! I wonder how many hours they invested in that restoration?
  5. Awesome news! Hope it turns out!!! We all know how some of these 1:1 reps turn out Thanks for the tip Lani!
  6. I like to do what ever I can to be on time or even early for everything I do. My fiancee on the other hand seems to do everything she can to be late. I just tell her we need to be somewhere 30 minutes before hand, and that seems to work out ok (most of the time)
  7. Cool info R! Can't wait to see the results! (assuming the royal "we" plan to try this out?)
  8. You guys will always amaze me!!!! I would love to learn metal working!!! I love precision engineering and manufacturing and this would be right up my alley with electronics and soldering and prototyping.
  9. Beauty jmb!!!! Awesome Tudor my friend! Congrats on your new build and enjoy it! It's an amazing looking watch and you should definitely be proud!
  10. How many different versions of the Samurai exist? There sure are quite a few versions just in the post!!
  11. I found a pretty good staking set on the bay for pretty cheap. It's a Moseley and it comes with 80 punchs and the staking tool looks to be in immaculate condition. It ends tomorrow. Thanks again for posting this!!! Another question for you: is there a good hand remover tool that you can recommend? I have an swiss presto style hand remover from Boston Watch Exchange, but it's kind of fallen apart.
  12. That is exactly what happened to my SMP seconds hand. Where can I find a tool like this? I was looking at a tool from ofrei, but it's very expensive!!
  13. Wasn't it Apple who made PDF natively available on their computers without having to buy Adobe Acrobat to make PDF files? Trust me, even an iPhone can open a PDF file natively so I'm sure the iPad will do it just fine
  14. Well if you ever want to trade, I'll take that Ninja in a heartbeat!!!
  15. such a simple thing can make so many people happy! Congrats on your upgrade R88!! As many have said already, you have contributed to your community, and it is your community that will be more than happy to help you with your grail watch building adventures!!!
  16. I always try to pocket my watch before entering an AD. I did forget once when I was wearing my Franken Tudor Sub. The sales rep asked me if it was a rolex, and my fiancee, god bless her, with child like defiance, announced "NO! It's a Tudor!" He shrugged, obviously having no idea what a Tudor was and proceeded to show me a Breitling Aerospace. When I asked him how I changed functions, he had no idea and had to ask another sales rep. Never did get a solid explanation on how to change modes on that thing!
  17. This thing glows like a torch!!! The Seiko lume is outstanding! @amptor - these can be had for a very reasonable price. This one modded was only $275.00. I saw one for sale with the standard hands through a google search for about $250.00 last week. Do a little searching and you will find one for a bargain I'm sure! There's also one on the bay that ends in about 5 days. It was about $137 the last time I saw it.
  18. I.C. Berlin are another great looking brand. Super, super light and very durable. The arms are designed to snap away from the frame. My old glasses were black metal and they were super comfortable. I keep them as spare glasses now. Currently sporting Oliver Peoples Titanium frames. Again, super light and rimless bottoms. Nice and clean and understated.
  19. To be honest, we still haven't even picked a date yet, but I think it will be in May. And no, the wedding will probably be something we just whip together We're both big time procrastinators, so it suits us both As far as effort goes, I got really lucky with this one. It was Wheaton26 and stilty who put in all the effort. I just had to send Wheaton26 money and patiently wait for it's arrival
  20. My fiancee really liked the DJ II with the metallic blue/stick marker dial. She's wondering if there is a metallic blue 38mm DJ dial and how hard it would be to source a gen one? Any thoughts?
  21. I'd put the gen bracelet on the franken PO, and sell the Gen PO with the Gen Rubber bracelet and make some money off of it. Keep the franken. You invested a lot of time and money into it and some of the community helped put it together. I'd say that makes it worth more than the gen, IMO.
  22. LeGambleur - it was your watches that originally turned me on to the Samurai line a few months ago when you first posted them. The Ninja is by far my favorite!!! The dial and red/black bezel are so stunning!!! I've searched high and low for one of those, but they are definitely hard to come by!
