  1. A while back, I joking made a comment about sticking lead fishing weights into the case. But I've been putting some thought to it since, and have been thinking about melting down some of those weights, drilling some holes into the corners of the inner case, and pouring in some lead into the newly created cavities - well, maybe not, who knows .... For the 192, you could always add weight to the case back as well. Just thinking out loud here.
  2. Isn't the blue/grey colour accurate for mimicking a Tantalum look? EDIT: Woops, forgot to hit refresh, so I didn't see your latest post. I believe they had to use Titanium backs as they ran into too many problems trying to thread and machine a Tantalum one, could be wrong though. Also these pics aren't that great - notice the hatch pattern easily seen on the case and band. And if they are from that site "PaneraiSource", I definitely wouldn't trust them. Here are some more pics:
  3. Talking to yourself? They don't make rep titanium bracelets anymore, and the old ones are becoming harder to find. You can try putting a WTB in the "Wanted" section of the forum. That is how I acquired all of my Ti/SS bracelets.
  4. They show up in the sales section every once in a while, often attached to straps. I haven't seen a branded 24mm one though, usually just 22mm.
  5. Perhaps someone in Germany could make a good sized order of various sizes, then put them up for offer in the sales area? I know I'd buy 5 or 6 pairs of screws in different sizes for say 10 euros without thinking twice about it. After they get the smaller headed ones in, of course.
  6. What do you mean by "modified"?
  7. I just grabbed a JTse ti case I have lying around, and don't really see why it would need refinishing. The ti looks great, same colour and tone of a couple gen (not PAM) ti watches I've got.
  8. What did you do the JTse case to make it look better? Just 3M brushing, or more? Too bad there wasn't an F series 177 - as there is an F series rep display back. I just used said back for the 118F I just finished building (pics coming soon ).
  9. I want further info on the 9V Coke painting technique
  10. Now I'm curious, what is it that you don't want the rest of the forum to know about a pre-v? Ah, never mind, not curious anymore .. better things to read
  11. I keep seeing mention of the movement ring modification. Is it simply the cutting out of the area by the date pusher? And wouldn't you need to add a long pusher pin? 7750 DW will not fit 7753, and you should PM Francisco to see if he can do that for you.
  12. Actually, I'm not sure if there ever was a rep 177G display back. But I could be wrong.
  13. Asian 6497 has flared spokes on the balance wheel and "=O=" type notches on the top plate of the balance assembly. The Asian one also usually won't have the ETA logo and 6497-n (1,2) stamped on the base plate just by the balance assembly area. The ETA balance assembly will either be a Novodiac one (solid round plate) or Incabloc (">O=" type notches on the plate), gen has Incabloc. You will also usually get all silver screws with the basic ETA 6497, while the Asian uses blue ones - trying to emulate the gen one, but the gen has silver slots). If you want to really mod your movement to be more PAM-like, swap the large winding cogs for ones with the sunburst pattern and polished teeth, and swap out the silver screws for blue ones (if you look at my 036B thread, you'll see what I mean).
  14. If it is going to be a closed back and your dial is tobacco (deep chocolate brown), then 061. If it is a display back, with and E/F/G engraved movement, and dial is black then 177G. The 061 dial is definitely not Anthracite, nor textured like the Anthracite ones.
  15. How much before shipping is added?
  16. Hmmm, I may just toss a couple of skinny titanium CGs in the oven, and see what happens
  17. Hmm, now my notifications are working. Yup, a section of it (about an inch in length) is now noticeably thinner than the rest Is it best to remove the bezel as well when installing the crystal?
  18. If only my notifications had been working, I may have avoided destroying a gasket Thanks for the info .... now who has an extra crystal gasket
  19. It reminds me when one used to go to parties, and there was a room with a bed where all the guests coats would be tossed.
  20. Now that's more like it, nice Swiss Incabloc 6497 there
  21. Any update yet? I'd love to see how this turned out. This, and some lead fishing line weights in the case, will make my 172 even more "Tantalum like"
  22. Is there a proper way to install the gasket? In other words, should you make sure that one particular side is "up"? I thought I'd read somewhere that the gasket is shaped with one part protruding a bit more, but I can't see this using my loupe.
  23. Right you are, about the "Marina Militare". But there where some "L Swiss L" 036 dials made (there was a thread about them on WUS). Still no pics of the caseback and movement? And the pic of the bracelet is very small.
  24. The rep dealers, not Panerai. Which means the dealers made the mistake of labeling it with the wrong model number, but it doesn't make in an 036 now does it? Kind of like calling a SS cased, blue GMT dialed rep PAM, an 089 Better off calling it an 040, at least that one did have a black dial. As for having the PAM bug, I always did. My reps are 99.2% PAM, and it was a PAM homage that got me into this hobby Any pics of the back, by the way? Is it a display back?
  25. It came from the first 036 I bought, from a member on RG. I had figured it was probably mineral, but then I bought a diamond tester and verified that it was sapphire. The first 036 had a DSN "Orange markers" dial, CG that had a bad case of over-sanding, display back with thin lettering, wrong shock assembly (Novodiac), and unpolished cogs.
