how do I install the double corrector in a 7750-GMT movement?
Drulee replied to scoobs1971's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Scoobs or Takashi, did you ever find the solution to this problem? EDIT: And thanks for posting those pics. I just wish I'd found this thread yesterday - it would have saved me a few frustrating hours of tinkering. -
Was the Helenrou bezel too wide, steep slope, drop at end ... ??
-
Yeah, a gen equivalent doesn't exist, I was looking for something like that a while back. I think I ended up createing a fantasy, consisting of a brushed case, polished bezel, logo dial (but sandwich), and brushed CG. I forget if it was a display or closed case back though. As I ended up not liking the brushed steel case, I ended up putting it away, so it's not handy to take a pic of. But fantasy would be the route to go.

Wow, that pair definitely belongs together. Panerai should've made a 088/089 LE offering - two of my favorite PAMs, congrats on putting it all together. So, what's next?
-
According to The Zigmeister and Vac, Panerai uses a C1/C3 (off-white/green) mixture on their watches - except, of course, the Tritium ones.
-
Bought it from another member here, then sent it off to The Zigmeister to get it lumed. Then I ordered one of DSN's new 172E display backs, along with a 172E, and put the back on the 192 to show off the movement. And since they had been sold as a box set, I figured that having the same serials on both backs was appropriate Then you can take out the movement and dial, fill it with water, stick a Guppy in it, and a thin straw in the crown tube. Instant PAM fish bowl, blow on straw periodically to aerate. So all is not lost

Hmm, I guess it depends upon the grade of ti and what elements it has been exposed to. I've got two gen titanium watches from the 90's, and they're still light coloured. I wonder if your location (being surrounded by the Pacific ) has anything to do with it. Or perhaps my location (watches probably spend a lot of time indoors ) does.

To give you an idea of what The Zigmeister's blue lume looks like, here it is on my 192
-
There are a lot of rep Panerai "Carbon Fibre" straps out there, but I've never had one myself so I'm afraid I can't help. Do you trust the source? (obviously not, or you wouldn't have posted ).
-
On my 192 I went with the blue lume, I also stuck a new DSN 172E display back to show off the SeaGull ST19 movement I've been thinking about getting another 192, getting it re-lumed with the proper c1/c3 mix and keeping the solid case back on it.
-
If you want a more accurate display back, DSN sells them.
-
I guess some just like a darker looking titanium. Me I like my Ti light, unless it is supposed to be Ta I assume this finish will eventually wear off, and the case will go back to the lighter titanium look.

First you have to determine the size of the threading of your T crown. Next you will probably have to use a new stem, as the threaded shaft of the T crown will accept a larger portion of the threaded end of the stem, than the DSN one would (bringing it closer to the case, or making the stem too short to fit into the movement properly. You should get a few new stems, as it will be a hit and miss operation - cutting small amounts, then sanding the end down bit by bit. You may also have to shave the feet of the CG down in order for the CG lever to press on the top of the crown. But be careful here as well, since sanding them too far down, will make it impossible to pull out the crown far enough to set the time. Like I said, hit and miss.

I just got an oxidized case from another member here, and it turned out to be much lighter than I had hoped. Yours is the perfect shade for the 172/192 Tantalum models - so it looks like I'm going to have to pick up some OxiClean and do some experimenting myself.
-
Great work. Looks maaarvelous.
-
It's my ADD, this is not the first time I've mixed up those names - once I even insisted that Little Hero no longer made reps, which the member I was talking to wasn't too happy to hear since he'd just sent the funds for one of his 111I watches I did mean to say Little Hero, honest.

For some reason searching for "7750" or "A7750" shows no results, and I haven't been able to find any pics just by browsing. So if you have a link, or some pics showing the top of an A7750 GMT with the GMT module removed, plus some with the date platform removed, please post them. I started to re-assemble mine, then lost a screw, and didn't find it until a few days later so I've forgotten the exact placement of some of the cogs Thanks

Nice work, but what did you use to apply the lume with? And exactly how did you remove the old lume from the hands?

Power reserve on an Asian Swan Neck movement
Drulee replied to metaljesus's topic in The Panerai Area
Yeah, that's the high beat - the standard 6497-1 is 46hrs (sorry thought it was 40hrs for some reason, too many numbers going around in my head I guess). Anyway I just checked the ETA data sheet and low beat is 46hrs, high beat 56hrs. One easy way of telling if yours is low or high beat is by comparing the teeth on the centre wheel against another of a known beat - the one with tighter grouped teeth (meaning more) is high beat, the one with less teeth (or more space in between them) is low beat. The Asian movements are on par with their ETA counterparts as far as power reserve is concerned. -

If your 6497 manages to get that much of a power reserve, don't ever give it up Even ETA says to only expect 40 hours, but I have a few that make 48 to 52 hours, but I've never heard of 56 - that is one finely tuned movement -
Then you can always order a 172 display back from DSN and put it on the 192 - only problem is that there are no Panerai markings on the movement,

40 to 42 hours is normal EDIT: My mistake, 46 to 48 is normal for low-beat, 56 for high beat. -
Yes, it is a SeaGull ST19 manual wind chronograph movement, found on the 308 and 192 reps (I have both ). It is a great movement, cheap and extremely reliable.

Too late, the logo with secs at 9 is gone
