I was just thinking on how I was going to go about removing the extra hash marks from the outer edge of the 088 dial, in order to make it into a 161 dial. The biggest worry was what removing them would do to the underlying black dial finish. Well, I realized that a better way to go about doing the mod, may not be to remove the markers, but to cover them up. These hash marks are very thin and short, are not lumed, and are not too thick or raised. So why not just cut a slit, the same size of one of the marks, in some mylar. Match some matte black spray paint to the dial's surface paint, by testing it out on some junk dial surfaces. And then just cover each hash mark with the spray paint, using the mylar template. What do you think?

Did you manage to remove it successfully? I'm about to try and remove some hash marks from the outer edge of a matte black dial, and want to know what the best way to do so would be, without destroying the black finish. Hmmm, just had a thought, why not just make a small linear cut-out on a template. Then spray over each has mark with matte black paint ????

I prefer the bezel style of the one on the left.

What do you guys think about this CG?
Drulee replied to pbe2410@wanadooadsl.net's topic in The Panerai Area
Looks very nice. I think the 201a CG has a bit more of a slope on the top part of the CG though, but I may be wrong. Where is the CG from? -
I chose the DSN dial, as I didn't really like the greyish/platinum sub-dial. To me, having a silver sub-dial just goes much better with the silver hands and polished silver case. As for lume, the DSN 088 I got a couple of months ago has an uncharged lume that isn't as green as his previous ones. But I also bought another DSN 088 dial from a member who just received it from DSN, and its uncharged lume is much greener. So it looks like it may vary a lot, from batch to batch.

Any other all titanium PAMs (including bracelet), besides the 279?

Yeah, 057 is not a bracelet model PAM. There are many all titanium PAMs, but I'm looking for all titanium that came with an all titanium bracelet (older style). -

Drulee replied to Drulee's topic in The Panerai Area
I certainly did. All the time I was thinking it will be perfect for my 091 ... duh, I then remembered the 091 is titanium and brushed steel. So I found another Ti/SS bracelet, and bought it. Well, I ended up with a full titanium bracelet, which I'll probably use to turn my 240 into a 279. But before committing to that, I thought I'd see if I had some other options (besides selling it ) -
Tried that already, now I have a large bottomless pit in the basement, and the movement is still isn't fixed. Maybe I should try sacrificing the neighbors cat, it's pretty fat.

Figured I'd post this up before heading out, and hopefully have an answer by late tonight I have an A7750, modified for PAMs (ie. only seconds at 9, and date), that stops occasionally, and often took a bit of shaking before starting up. As I've been feeling a bit adventurous lately, and bought a couple of extra movements (this part being more important ), I decided to see if I could locate the problem. Well upon removing the case back, I happened to give the rotor a few spins - just because I love that sound. After sending the rotor a few times around clock-wise, I noticed some strange behavior. It seems when it stops its CW rotation, it immediately starts spinning CCW without me agitating the watch at all. What's up with this? Any ideas? Any tutorials on fixing it? Any hope? I mean there's always gotta be hope, right?

YIPEE! Finally fixed my first keyless works on an A7750 for PAM movement. I ended up having to remove the date platform, and then saw that the setting lever had been pushed over the yoke, so the yoke was actually sitting underneath it. The top pin on the lever was also on the wrong side of the jumper. So I just used a screw driver to push the jumper back a bit and slid the lever back into position. While I was there I also placed very small "dabs" (size of tip of a needle) of D5 on the areas of the Keyless I had access to, where the ETA chart recommended application. I was thrown off a bit while following the "ETA Swissl@b" flash diagrams, to dis-assemble and identify parts, as some of the cogs and springs had not been present, as this is a PAM A7750 that only has seconds at 9 and a date wheel. Otherwise everything was pretty straight forward. As I've got another hour to kill, I'm going to have a look at another movement that has been "acting up" Thanks for all the help, and Merry Christmas.

You may want to order a proper "H" series display back from DSN, and see if there is anyway of removing the engraved (etched?) numbers on the lug corners, as they are all wrong for a 177. As mentioned, you could also get the blue "OFFICINE PANERAI" decal from Francisco. Which reminds me, I finally got a clear decal sheet, so I'll probably run one off to see how my laser prints. Also, I see from one of the profile pics above, that your bezel has a "lip" on it - any idea which case that is?
-
Yeah I know about the DSN backs, ordered one from him last month when I had an extra "E" series movement. You say that the Angus Ultimate is hard to come by, but why would one want to come by one in the first place?
-
E208P ?!? And it's an Ultimate.

Aahhh, much better. Daylight definitely makes quite the difference.

Maybe he is just tired of dealing with RG members But a few over there have been waiting to hear back from him for a week or more (I finally gave up trying myself). Others have complained about waiting for parts, a week or more after they'd paid him (for him to have them, not for delivery). Then there was the problem a member had trying to return a defective dial... Who knows, it may have just been a busy time for him (in his non-rep life )
-
Yeah, besides the LH "I" series, I've only seen the "35" ones. At least the titanium display backs have a few different numbers.
-
That looks damned nice, very well done. My 205 (7753) has hijack luming, so I know how great yours must be. How long ago did you acquire the LH CG? I ask because there have been so many complaints about him the last couple of months.

Well said FGD. And Merry Christmas to all, yes even the OP

Oh ya, the one that had the double AR'd crystal

Very nice, where did you get it from? And how about some pics of the back?
