  1. Well, when you act like one, it is easy to jump to that conclusion ...
  2. Been buys with other things, will probably start disassembling in the next day or so.
  3. Welcome to the rep world. In this world, "Swiss" and "ETA" take on a new meaning. Usually when a movement is referred to as "Swiss" or "ETA", it is full blown ASIAN. And when you see claims that say the watch is 100% (or even 99.9%) accurate to gen, be assured you will be lucky to get one that is maybe 80%, in outer appearance, close to gen. However within the the rep world, there are some dealers who try to provide something close to what they claim. These dealers are usually labeled "trusted", not because they are trust worthy, but because they are not likely to take your money and run, or send you some piece of junk that looks nothing like what was pictured. DSN is a trusted dealer. His watches are more accurate than most, and he also carries some models than no other dealer sells. DSN's prices are actually quite reasonable and not exorbitant at all - don't forget they include shipping and drop when two or more watches are purchased. Most of the sub $200 reps use "ultra-cheap" movements (like the 21J). But DSN's offering only contain the 6497 or Asian 7750, both very good rep movements - especially after being properly serviced. Next, all his rep dials and hands are applied with SuperLuminova, usually costing an additional $120 or more when done by our modders. He also uses above average dials in most cases, and is currently the only titanium auto case provider (well half-decent cases anyway). As far as the "swan neck", it is usually not functional and just added to an ETA 6497 (as are the engraved plates) as a decoration. As far as the claim of his display backs being sapphire, I'd actually never noticed that he claimed this - but the ones I've received from him are definitely not.
  4. Missing something ?? Perhaps a new wife
  5. There is a guy who does great work, and is located in Spain (I believe). He is on RG, maybe others, and goes under the username Hijack. An A7750 in the tricompax configuration (sub-dials at 3-6-9) should not be too hard to get. If you decide that this may be too much effort, let me know, as I may take it off your hands
  6. I'm not sure how accurate the LH 219 is, as it seems too glossy. But the finish on his 111 dials is supposed to be like the gen.
  7. For the 111 sandwich dials, the LH is supposed to be closest to the genuine. The 117 tobacco dial is close, as well. The 252, if it is the "cobalt blue" one, is also accurate. Not sure about the others though.
  8. I was never really sold on the "Panda" idea, but that looks really nice. But I do believe we are missing the required lume shot
  9. Not worth removing it. There are a couple of "fixes" to tighten it up though. One involves slowly stuffing it with foil, the other using dental floss. Personally, I've tried neither, but will probably go with the flossing technique
  10. Thanks, I'll try to approach it that way. I'd assume that one of the levers would be pushed up, since the stem release button is stuck at the pushed in position.
  11. With the dial removed, pretty much all of the keyless works are still covered by the date wheel and date wheel related levers, plates, etc. I should point out that the stem will go in far enough to get to the date changing position and I can move from one date to another when I turn it. However it won't go in any farther, and the stem release button is stuck in the down position. HikeUSA, thanks for the link but that thread deals with another matter, not the keyless.
  12. He gets so many PMs I'd rather just see if he responds to this thread, or if anyone else does - I'm in no rush I think that if I don't have to go much farther than removing the date platform, I should be able to fix it. But any more than that, I may be asking for trouble
  13. I've been searching the forum for a while without luck, for a thread about this. A while back I bought a movement (A7750) which had the stem release button pushed in too far. I remember reading a thread about just pushing a lever back into positions from the top of the movement. I can change date wheels without any problem, so I thought that maybe I'd be able to do this quick fix as well. Does anyone have a link to that thread? Thanks
  14. And every time I see yours, I can see Malcolm McDowell taking that laptop and hurtling it to the ground, shattering all over its owners, who happen to be tied up in a corner of the room. All the time a bit of Ludwig van playing in the background, of course. He then takes a bat to the rest of the bobbles in the room, stopping only to admire a PAM on a desk, but then quickly continuing with the destruction (after pocketing the PAM, of course). Can any of us truly be cured?!?
  15. Eddie Lee on right, gen on left?
  16. Yeah, that guy in Turkey must be sitting on a mountain of PAM titanium auto crowns. I remember coming across his listing when I first joined the forums.
  17. Dat looks Boo-tea-full. Very nice pics and watch.
  18. Usually the gold plating on reps is absolutely awful. Your best bet would be to buy a SS model, then get it plated yourself. But I'm not sure of exactly what's involved, so I'd get a lot more details before attempting it.
  19. And you're going to force everyone else to search?
  20. Yup, forgot to mention this fix. Often wondered why one of our machinists doesn't knock off a bunch of discs and put them up for sale Hint, hint
  21. A lot of members have this problem. One solution is to sand down the feet of the crown guard, but you have to have enough room between top of crown and bottom of CG, so that you pull out stem enough to set time. This is not as easy as it sounds, and you should practice with a test CG first.
  22. What dluddy said It is sometimes also referred to as the PAM Brooklyn edition (by me anyway) Not sure how accurate that one is though.
  23. I asked them two months ago (Josh/Andrew) and they didn't. But I'm not sure about now. I have heard that one of them told another member, this past month, that they had some of the Cartier chronos with 7753, but can't verify it myself.
  24. Terrific review, even if you've got no Sub luv I'm just getting into them, just don't like the 47mm ones. One thing though, you mention that the strap was a big let down, have you tried other rep straps of this type? I ask because I couldn't stand the older style rep rubber, but the new style that came with my manual wind 308 made me change my mind about rubber straps - it was form fitting, very comfortable, and just seemed "right". If you're saying the gen of this style is even better, I may just pick one up.
  25. You've revealed my secret. Late at night, if I need to visit the "lou", I grab my Ziggified 250 from the top of my night table and use it to find my way However, that dial would wake up the neighborhood
