  1. At the Bay across from my Summer home: sunset. I love the sun's dying colors on the tiny wave crests.
  2. That's unusual. I suppose the color correction of the photograph is fooling me. My DSSD brightened up spectacularly after just a simple cleaning with Cape Cod; no re-finishing pad was used. I can't compare it directly with your new watch so I can't know unequivocally. From dull "gray" steel to almost silver was a big leap for a simple wipe-down.
  3. V6 has a better pearl and dial finish than the V5. cartel Ultimate .. I've never been a fan. Fat hour markers and wonky |10 | on the insert .. which you can pay EXTRA $$$ to have fixed ... Hmmmmm Hypothetical Waiter says - "Before I bring your dinner out, Sir, I'd like you to know that the steak you ordered has a very large dead cockroach sat squarely in the middle, held in place by a toothpick. For $100 and one extra week lead time, I will be happy to remove that cockroach before leaving the kitchen."
  4. I don't mind the dial text at all, but the 3-color lume job has to go. A very beautiful Sub homage.
  5. While I certainly miss seeing posts from contributing older members (Pugwash?) I don't feel that the post count is low on a daily basis. When I come home from work, there are always at least 120 New Posts created overnite and during the day. I agree that the lack of new watches is a problem, overall. edit: yes Watch International is awesome. She just procured for me a handful of Cartier Pasha Seatimer watchband screws for my wife's piece, as well as the normal excellent service she provides with reps.
  6. I wore my DSSD w/swiss all weekend while I was demolishing a small barn on my property. Swinging 1lb and 10lb sledge hammers over and over and over for two days. Watch continues to work flawlessly. It makes you wonder what they do "in transit" to break them.
  7. Just FYI, a normal DSSD v5 polishes up that brightly with Cape Cod polishing cloth. It's all in the finish. It certainly is a good colored lume. I can see it brightly glowing there, in daylight.
  8. I feel your pain, CT. I'm glad you got the parcel, tho.
  9. I replied to his PM .. I used LocTite's Stik n Seal waterproof adhesive on my bezel after the chemical in Cape Cod polishing cloth dissolved the bezel insert glue completely. It has a long wet working time but like any "rubber glue" be careful of the imperceptible threads of glue which form when you draw off a bead of it. This repair is a month old and is rock solid, but I can't guarantee permanence. (yet) As for removing this "ceramic" style bezel, most people here who do it first soften the glue with a heat source (hair dryer) and then gently prise it up with a hooked metal wire thru the pearl hole.
  10. That is an "artistic photograph" created by a Photoshop monkey in Advertising Dept. ... not true to life. Look at the steel, completely filled in with a false texture. You can't tell anything about a real DSSD with this photo, unfortunately.
  11. I do not know about the current 2010 ETZ model but in 2009, all their DSSDs were v5 case bodies and dials, regardless of the movement you bought.

    Waterproof?

Welcome, and to put it simply: Even if the replica designer intends for the watch to be water-tight, the person who puts the watch together can forget to place a gasket before closing it, and ... uh oh! With no quality inspection, you never know what you will get.
  13. All the DSSDs up to the current models have this problem. See gioarmani's tips and reviews from over a year ago, now, on this issue. I do not know if the cartel "ultimate" units have a proper valve. Don't believe stuff you read on the Internet Check it yourself if you own one until there's a reliable "tutorial" post here referencing "fixed" HEVs on current DSSD models.
  14. A POrikka is a great value watch, but to compare one vs a gen in a review is a little odd.
  15. An exceptional effort, as usual. Congratulations on another fine project.
  16. Yeah .. "hello" and "lets see some wristies!" ;P
  17. It's a long-standing and time honored tradition for higher-end fine watch makers to hide pornography in their watches. Some of it is even animated via a power take-off from the movement. Do a Google search and you'll find many classic pics
  18. OMG the dial crown is off center .. SOME QC OUR "TRUSTED" DEALERS HAVE .... what .... it's a gen? .... oh nevermind. Sorry, OP; I should explain that many people in our hobby complain about the most tiny things wrong with a rep, and I am simply having a bit of fun with the (appears to be) off-center crown on your photos of a genuine watch
