  1. Unfortunately, the caseback is 2 piece. Only the outer ring is threaded and the inner titanium cover is gasketed. Spin that inner cover, and I bet the gasket is torn to pieces as it tightens down. You have to compress the Ti pressure dome and then spin the fixing ring down.
  2. Bought a second tix to help things along.
  3. Yes I understand that 60usd is less than 50eur .. I dont care about that. I was wondering why they'd risk making early adopters angry with reduced price tix. Either way, I'll take more if allowed.
  4. Straight retail for a 2824-2 at Otto Frei is $130 USD ~ even if you had to replace the movement I bet labor and parts wouldnt be more than $200 USD.
  5. To fill the raffle, I would add another ticket to my first. Why not the same prices?
  6. If it's an inexpensive watch with an inexpensive movement, it's probably in your best interest to simply junk the movement and insert a new one. Not repair it. Good luck.
  7. Testimonials are the worst kind of blather. Mob rule and Emperor's New Clothes wrapped up in one. Look at holistic tripe like Dr Frank's pain remedy ... testimonials my bum.
  8. Yes, she doesn't like the J12 ... too toy-like.
  9. What we really need is a nice choice of watches for women that professionals could wear to both the office and dinner meetings. From the meeting table to the corporate yacht. I picked up a Cartier LaDona (w/diamond bezel)for my wife, but the only version I could find turned out to be BRASS with chrome plate, bracelet edges so sharp you could cut hard cheese with it, and a copy Miyota quartz movement that died in 6 months. I see that Eurotimez is promising to have a seperate women's "section" or search or something and that is a good start. I dont want to stare at 748 men's rolex day/date to find the 5 women's styles that the collector carries. Collectors, help us buy from you!! Make searches easier for women's styles.
  10. I like your efforts here but maybe removing the second hand was a bit much? If someone was competent enough to open the watch, pull the movement, removed the broken hand ... wouldnt they re-attach it?
  11. Thank you kindly, good sir.
  12. What are your 'bay search terms for finding joblots of mixed movements?
  13. I think the collectors and factories see what we are willing to pay an artisan to make the watches perfect, and decided there is a lot of untapped cash out there.
  14. Do you know what I like besides the Arabic numeral dial version of the Br02, in stainless? Photos that are 3000 to 4000 pixels wide. That's what I like.
  15. Is there a problem? The OP only says he's waiting for a new insert .. which problem were you thinking of?
  16. Please say No to fads, voodoo, and half-baked but well meaning asshattery.
  17. What you don't know is that his Grandfather was the biggest pimp in New Orleans in 1970!!
  18. Your watch will run faster as the oils evaporate. Are you certain this has not been coming on for a while?
  19. perhaps the datewheel is rubbing on the back of the dial. Poor fitment?
  20. Unfortunately the color balance in each of those photos is completely different. It's impossible to see subtle changes if the camera takes a different picture each time.
  21. Yes the DSSDv5 has a flat-topped white pearl, exactly as you describe.
