I think they did not know about Ceramic Submariners, and thought you were importing a very bad replica with a plastic bezel
"Hey Sigubjorn ... how much import tax on this Rolex? ... HAHA Sven, look at it! It is plastic. No tax!" --- my replication of the events at your tax office.
It is true that our current stable of modders is badly over-worked and a high quality watch smith would be welcome. I also have to say that in the past some questionable modders have vanished with a whole lotta watches never returned SO .. if you could get vetted with the admin team, you would probably see all the work you could handle ..
Current modders here have a 2 month backlog of work so it would be worth your while to be "trusted" on the Forum.
Since he became so backed up with work, as well as having to answer waves of email from customers and tire kickers, he set a rule of "no new customers unless they are personally recommended by an existing one"
That, plus I believe someone here said he's on vacation?
Go to the main page of the forum and scroll halfway down to the dealer area. Bergie's is the dedicated soft goods merchant here.
Send a PM to "KB" to contact him.
Why not send it to the closest trusted watchsmith? There's no Customs trouble within the USA.
Over on RWI forum, watchsmith The Katt has great reviews and I have personally used his services three times. He's in MN and has a good turn around time.
Contact him at GKLONER at GMAIL dot COM
I remember when everyone on the Internet was angry that AOL was going to connect their users to the 'net. Pretty-much ruined everything.
Before then, AOL was a self-contained community.
It looks like the gray paint is chipped out of the number "2" on the bezel insert .. on the Gen, that is pure platinum in the numbers, not paint.
Also, typical Noobfactory dial problems .. the hour marker "white gold" rims are too fat.

Most PR watches use the A21j movement since there is an existing A21j PR movement.
Watches "good enough" to warrant the use of a Swiss ETA will have faux PR since the commonly used ETA movements do not have this functionality.
A21j movements, for reference, cost about $20 *retail* ... So imagine how little they cost a factory when purchased in bulk.
Noobfactory (N-Factory) makes the best low to mid-level Rolex replicas. BK uses their watches for some of his products. He is not a "Factory", he is a modder .. a modder takes a basic watch and makes it better then re-sells it.
You can find him here in BK's Watch Garage section
