I'm confused with this statement if related to PAMs.
Right now each factory is doing different models. For instance the Hublot factory is doing the 005K, 177L, etc. You won't find those from other factories.
unfortunately things seem to be far from over. In addition to the nuclear scare they are going thru right now, the seismic activity in the region is far from over. Data from USGS that I plotted from the past 4 days. The red line is the 6 magnitude the USGS uses to highlight high intensity quakes.
I hope they come thru this ordeal soon.
The 005, 177 and 219 come from a factory that got the crystal right. The 111 has a darker crystal with blue AR that's not very good.
I have the 005, 177 and some 111 for parts. The 005 and 177 you can wear without any mods.
I'd stay away from the 318 since the caseback is not that accurate.
Open caseback will expose you to a bad replica movement. No rep movement comes close to the gen. The 005 will be very hard for any non expert to say anything about it.
ROO, Royal Oak Offshore? yes, first pic top row left, next to the RO.
I don't like smaller watches but I have a few that have presence (SSD - not shown, Patek Nautilus, Tag Link)
thanks.
There are 4 that stand out right now:
- 005K (virtually indistinguishable from the gen). Requires very few and simple mods
- 288 (with the croc strap is also almost impossible to see differences with the gen. The chrono pushers a slightly off position because of the 7750 but mostly seen on pics)
- 212 (a rarity in reps because it's an open caseback. The only issue I noticed is the missing micro-adjuster which can be added like we do with the Hublots)
- The new 7753 daylights. No mods needed
I bet to differ.
For LH between the 111j and the 005K there's absolutely no reason to pay the LH premium. His movement mods were never gen like (better than general reps but never like the OEM). His dial and hands are now inferior to the 111j and his CG as well (unless you need a historic one for a pre-v project).
DSN is a different story because he offers a set of models you can't find anywhere else (like the 24A).
interesting idea for a cone. This is a must when you're taking pics of highly reflective ones like SS PAMs.
Isn't it funny how in most cases the shot setup is some sort of weird contraption? You can't never tell by the final result.
that's exactly how I "prune" my collection. I can never make any progress.
one a more serious note, any difference in power reserve or how long it takes get to full power?
I applaud your perseverance. AR services for watches is not for the faint of heart, specially if you want to match an existing specification. Great job.
My new favorite combination. Franken 156 on bracelet with CP mod.
A long time favorite (186) now with CP fix and a new fat CG (per gen).
And finally a classic franken now finally done. OEM dial/hands, 111j case and crown, 005K CG, caseback and crystal, Swiss decorated luxury ETA 6497-1.
I hope I'm finally done with this bunch. Oh wait, I still need to find a new colorless AR for the autos. oh well.....
