  1. The bezel markers are incorrect, the hands are the wrong shape, the serial and model ref between the lugs are wrong, the date font sucks and on and on and blah blah blah...
  2. I know of Omni's generosity first hand twice over; he is one of the most generous souls I know. I am privilaged to have been blessed with his kindness and more importantly, his friendship. And for that, I am forever grateful... @Dems- Thanks for putting things back into perspective for me Much appreciated, my friend...
  3. It's definitely got the potential to be a serious chunk of metal. Just hope they get this one right...
  4. Dug up some old pics... Most were taken just after I put it all together. Hope tutima doesn't mind me posting...
  5. For plexi era... 6062 Triple Date Moonphase 5514 Non-COMEX logo'd dial (early production) 6542 White dial 'Pan-AM Desk Jockey' GMT
  6. When will the porcelain dial 16520 join the duo?
  7. I haven't rotated tires in 2 years... Mostly because trying to rotate staggered width wheels is not so easy
  8. I love it... Chief's AR just makes the dial pop. Beautiful...
  9. Glanced over at my watch this afternoon while it was nestled in the watchbox and noticed that today's date had provided a bit of symmetry and balance to the PO dial. I have oft times wondered what a base dial might look like for this model- This gives me a bit of an idea... I'd be pleased if this dial option were available... Even if the date function is a useful feature...
  10. P- You hit the nail right on the head. I think it's the feeling of entitlement that bothers me so much. As if these people are owed something. You know, it's amazing how much power those magic words can have. Please, or thanks... Some form of gratitude or appreciation... It goes a long way and can mean the difference in getting help, or getting the door shut on one's face.
  11. Agreed that the economics sometimes does not make sense. However, if you wait until your current movement takes a dump and you replace it with a new movement, there's no guarantee as to how old that 'new' movement will actually be. It could be a 5 - 8 year old movement sitting in some watchmaker's bin to begin with. Oils age and dissipate over time regardless of whether the watch is running or not. For a Seiko movement, that mentality may be well and fine. However, there were folks who had the same standpoint when it came to ETAs. Since they were easily sourced and affordable a few years ago, the same mindset was in place to just replace instead of service. Now, with the cost of Swiss ETAs as it is, it's a different perspective
  12. Just have a look at some of Zig's reviews that he's done, specifically the one on his 4 year old A7750 that had run for 4 years straight. The oils do evaporate over time and can cause other issues internally; I'd say a regular service is a must to keep the friction points lubricated to avoid unnecessary wear. You'll also want either re-lubed gaskets or fresh gaskets as well if it regularly sees H2O...
  13. I'd love it on the rubber strap with deployant; should one want the mesh, it shouldn't be hard to get Agree, Doc. This could be one serious beastie
  14. OT: Mitton- The left side portion of your sig looks like it would be a very nice place for watch lovers...
  15. Probably easier slinging rock than selling reps
  16. I've found one positive to buying some of his stuff- It's good, cheap material to practice on. Otherwise, not a lot of upside for the consumer...
  17. P9000 is the caliber, I believe. Then there are subset models within the movement type. Personally, I like the PAM305 a lot
  18. Don't they operate as jewelryoutlet555 as well?
  19. When using canned air, be very careful as the checmicals from the compressed air can actually add a film to the surface if not careful. As for removing scratches on the plexi- If they are on the exterior surface, just leave them be. You'll accumulate more scratches as time goes on no matter how careful you are. For vintage, these superficial imprfections only add to the character...
  20. Hmmm... I've not had a shirt go dead on me from starch... Yet. Then again, I'm only in a situation where starching a shirt is needed maybe once or twice a year at most. Jeans and sensible shirts for the rest of the year at the office and at home
  21. That's a beauty. And I most certainly understand where you're coming from in wanting to build a watch like this... Something with meaning... For your son. I did the exact same thing (different brand) for my son and my daughter. To me, an effort like this carries more sentiment and emotion than any store bought gen ever could since the watch was built specifically for someone in mind. Just makes it that much more special, and the value goes beyond any dollar amount in my opinion. Congrats on the fantastic news of your son, BTW. For me, life really began when my kids were born. Best time of my life... Cheers! Ubi
  22. Not too much to add, except looking forward to seeing the finished project!
