  1. El Primero power... With Valjoux 23 motivation not far behind;
  2. Glad to hear it arrived safe and sound! Enjoy
  3. What are you trying to replace the crown with? A genuine crown, or another rep crown? Most rep crowns will work... But a genuine will not, as the inner diameter (and genuine tube) is larger.

    AS 1916

Thought I had an AS19xx in the bin, but all I have left is a 2083. Of all the AS movements I've had, they all have the stem release as a small button, similar to the CN movements...
  5. I must say... I've never been interested in the Chopard MM GT XL, mostly due to the size... But the look is growing on me. As per usual... Very fascinating tear down Rob. I am curious, however... Due to the datewheel and extra large base plate... Could a Swiss 7750 ever go in as a replacement? That is... Are those specific Asian made parts compatible with the Swiss?
  6. I agree with Ken. As a collector, I hoard what I have. There's 12 watches in my collection... I wear 2 of them consistently. The other 10? Well... They do a good job at collecting dust, but many of them have a lot of time, effort and money invested, so I doubt I'd ever get my money's worth back out of them even if I did want to sell them. I've given away a number of pieces to friends and family as a result; but most of what's left will be spending the majority of their time sleeping soundly in the watch box...
  7. I'm thinking it will be a franken-Sub day for me... But after work, maybe I'll give this one some wrist time...
  8. I've got this buddy, who rolled into town from the East Coast last week, and he's sporting a PAM63 on his wrist. In his watch case, he has a gorgeous Rolex 5512, and then... He pulls out a WM 45mm Radiomir, so then I get to thinking... Are the 63 and the 5512 reps? The odds of someone not in our hobby forums knowing about WM and his one off examples are pretty slim (I figure)... So, I hold the PAM and examine... Thick crown and nice CG... Thick, bold date font and nice datemag... Cyclops looks to be bigger than your average rep cyclops... And then I check out the vintage Rol... Gen parts check out... Watch looks nice with a lot of character patina; consistent with a 40 year old watch... Turns out... The watches were modded reps... And the owner was my pal kruzer00... So, this time... I ran into someone who is not only as addicted to reps as me, but also as addicted to modded reps as me as well Okay... So, I knew kruzer was coming to town, and nothing was a surprise... It was a fun time none the less
  9. White dial for Thursday... Black dial for Friday...
  10. This one is on my list as well... Great watch, and very well done. I've been eyeing it since WM posted one for sale on TRC...

Panerailord... Or Lolos... Please... Give it a rest.
  12. Interesting looking piece, TTK. Is the movement an Ebel 137?
  13. Bracelets only for my 16520's... I've tried straps, but they just don't do it for me....
  14. I tell them the truth- That the watch on my wrist is one that I built. I do break down the parts content... And when rep parts are involved, I absolutely disclose that information. Most are fascinated by the idea... And I'm oft times asked to commission a watch for someone (to which I usually decline) In my experience, a lot of people are intrigued with the idea of counterfeit items; especially the good ones. The usual response to the topic of replicas (that I've encountered) is: 'Where can I get one?'
  15. Hmmmm... 34mm Oyster case (a la 1500/15000, etc) should accept a standard 11.5"' ETA. Perhaps a 2824 will do the trick.
  16. For my 6265 vintage, I chose to go with a different $400.00 path using a Valjoux 23... Since the V23 is essentially the same as the V72 (minus the hour counter), the subdial spacing works well...
  17. *sigh* Someday, I hope to visit the land of my heritage... Until then, I'll have to live vicariously through you guys
  18. But of course... This pair for me (definitely)... I prefer to keep all of my watches, but if I could only keep two, it would be these two for sure...
  19. Well... Sounds like your boss is doing what he can to take care of you And you're in the home stretch now! I hate travelling for work... I dread the thought of being away from my wife and kids for any amount of time. My day just feels incomplete without seeing them...
  20. Egads... Only home every two weeks?! I don't know how you do it...
  21. Nice choice, Bruce... Think I'll queue up my franken-Sub for Tuesday wear...
  22. Interesting bullhead! Very cool! Good luck on sourcing the last of your parts... You're almost there!
