Parts bin special... I dig Humble thanks for your kind words, guys! This one went together on a whim; completely spur of the moment. Turned out better than I thought it would! Stac- I'm glad to see that my sense of humor shows in my posts. Sometimes I am worried that the element of humor is lost in the typed word Anyhow... I just cut a stem for the movement this morning, and threw a bracelet on. Still need to swap the clasp... But I gotta say- This sucker is surprisingly heavy for it's size! Nice weight to it! But I suspect that most of it is the solid link bracelet... Thank you all once again for the kind words! I hope that some of you might be up for a project of your own? Perhaps there will be more to come shortly in that regard (stay tuned)...

Cleaned out/ organized my parts bins the other evening, and sorted bits and pieces. Found a bunch of stuff I forgot I had... And, gathered some of those parts to piece a watch together. I regret that I didn't take any progress pics along the way, as I didn't think to (doh). But, here's the basic run down of parts... -Replica 1016 Exp I vintage case, crown, tube, crystal and bezel -CWP Milguass 1019 dial (repaint on genuine Singer base) -Replica 'guass hands for ETA -ETA 2836 with the datewheel removed -Case/movement ring -Case/movement clamps And... The result: Not terribly bad for what started as a pile of parts, eh? Cheers, R

Good stuff J. Just for clarification, I believe that the 2nd gen is actually a carousel, and not a true tourbillon as you mentioned. That 3rd gen looks very nice! I LOVE that unsigned dial!

Frankensteins are very difficult to determine price on. Namor- You and I both know what goes into these things... But sometimes it's hard for someone to understand or appreciate that value unless they've done or attempted a similar project, and know what they involve. Only thing I can suggest is to pull together a list of mods/work/upgrades done on the watch. Total it all up with the cost of the watch included in that figure. Based on that price, figure out what you think is acceptable for such a piece, and determine two figures- What you'd ideally want for the watch (high end of the scale), and what you'd actually accept as the lowest price (low end of the scale). Perhaps you can base your pricing as somewhere in between those two high/low figures. Unfortunately, there really isn't any really easy way to determine value... So, that's why I consider the tangible items, as well as overall condition, etc. and factor in depreciation. However, if the watch is not an easy one to build due to technical difficulty, hard to find parts, etc. I also take those aspects into consideration. Short answer to a long problem... This is a very difficult value to determine. This is why I keep most of the watches that I make. It's too much work for my brain to process

Unique pieces are always very difficult to determine a fair price for (at least for me it is). This is part of the reason why I would prefer to either keep the watches that I have, or sell them to a small group of friends who I know will appreciate the watch for a low price (those watches never make it to the trading forums, and they don't come up often ). Quite honestly... I don't like selling anything if I don't have to

The Explorer I is actually the original. The 6350 Explorer was around before the 6204 Sub. If anything, the Sub is a hybrid/evolution of the Explorer...

I would have to recommend the Explorer I from either River or EL (TW Best). It is a very accurate piece out of the box.

I was tempted to suggest a Rolex, but figured that baltic might not care for them (based on his current roster)
