  1. I think PeteM and hackR have regular contact with Nikki6?
  2. Cheapest I've seen (as of recent; within the last 3 - 4 months): -Gen dial (lumi service) $230.00 -Gen hands (lumi service) $80.00 -Gen crystal (127 new/sealed) $60.00 -Gen insert (lumi service) $95.00 -Gen crown/tube (703) $65.00 paired -Gen 1570 $750.00 -Phong case $1400.00 -Gen 93150 $650.00 (what I paid for a sharp/crisp one a few weeks ago) Total $3330.00 Figure that a service of the movement is a good idea (add in another $250 - $300) and you're at $3600.00. A gen white 1680 is not a far stretch... And the prices above are not what you would typically find on VRF. Figure on the following being a little more in tune with what most will list their parts at: -Gen dial (lumi service) $450.00 -Gen hands (lumi service) $150.00 -Gen crystal (127 new/sealed) $160.00 - $200.00 -Gen insert (lumi service) $150.00 -Gen crown/tube (703) $90.00 paired -Gen 1570 $900.00 - $1100.00 -Gen 93150 $850.00 - $1000.00 Parts add up to close to $3k without the case set or service... Factor in $1400 for a Phong, or you can cut some cost by going with someone else's case.
  3. The luck will be more to do with timing- Being in the right place at the right time. But always possible...
  4. 1680 projects are kind of tricky (unless you're doing a red font with gen dial) as the cost to build is inline with the cost of buying a gen.
  5. That is a correct early white 1680 dial. I believe these were the first variations of the white font dials found in 1680s after superceding the reds.
  6. Dial is definitely decent for the time period of replication, but certainly not genuine. The date window size/position is the instant tell for me. From there you can start working your way out in identifying the details and minutiae that would further indicate that it is not authentic. For a piece made in the 80's it's pretty dang good...
  7. Rob, Nice 1601! I agree with what automatico said... The pie pans are classic Rolex...
  8. Love those little tins. Great for storing parts in... I also like to use the oversized Day-Date boxes for storage of smaller parts as well. Got a few of them filled up like this...
  9. I have a 702 with your name on it. Price is the best price of all... $0.00...
  10. I wish you would have waited... Was going to offer to send you a 702 gratis if it's what you needed... R- The JT crown is a 700 crown... No dots...
  11. I'm still awaiting delivery on my case. The case featured in the pics above is actually one I had procured on a friend's behalf. Prior to sending it on to him, I wanted to ensure there were no issues with it, so I test fit my movement and other parts to confirm that everything fits up properly. To top it off, I threaded in one of my 702 tubes that I had. The end is in sight... Just a matter of waiting...
  12. Looking good! The crystal (while nice because it's gen) does not come anywhere near the quality of a chief AR'd crystal! IWC has some big standards to match in that regard...
  13. AR looks pretty dang good on the H-Factory piece...
  14. Maybe not bark... But perhaps diamond set pave?
  15. I think the Jubilees look great on GMTs as well! Very nice and complimenting look The 1016 is such a simple piece overall; very basic, yet balanced. The Jubilee and the multi-link design adds a little bit of an ostentatious facet to the otherwise simple aesthetic.
  16. Great comparo! Thanks for taking the time to post here
  17. Thanks, gents You know... I've never been a big fan of Jubilees either, but I've found that it gives the 1016 a different kind of character. I still love Oysters... But this one is growing on me
  18. By 'square up' I am making reference to achieving a sharp inside corner point at the base:
  19. The only thing I would do is try to square up the inside corners of the CG more...
