  1. Some of the more noticable differences with the YM are usually the date mag (which is 2.0x on the genuine), dial color, dial font color, seconds hand color, bezel font/spacing, crown guard shape, and of course, weight (below are some pics to illustrate). cpt's 16622 looks pretty damn good; many of the flaws that were typically found on reps of past appear to have been addressed for the most part (but a few still exist, which is to be expected in reps).

All in all, a nice looking watch, and one would indeed have to have this one side by side with a genuine to point out differences.

  2. point taken on the insert, could not find an acrylic pearl so used later one, tropic 19 was all I had at the time , looks ok on the watch though.

There are some flat T-39's around... As well as Superdomes too :) And... Occassionally, some of the acrylic pearls show up on eBay...

Nice looking 16713... Is it the solid 14k one from PT?

P.S. Nice to have another vintage nut in the house ;)

  3. Sea dweller is fully modded, eta2836 serviced, gen crown and tube, gen aged insert, it has a beautiful grey/blue colour, hollow link sea dweller bracelet, tropic 19, light ageing to dial markers etc, case polished/rounded. will try to post some better pics

Hmmm... Very nice 1665, but unfortunately, that's not a genuine insert. Genuine vintage inserts for 1665/1680/5513's look like this:

MBW on the left; genuine on the right

    Also... You'll want a Tropic 39 for the Sea-Dweller; Tropic 19 goes with the 5513 ;)

  4. Does it run fine with the crown guard lever in the open position?

Quite possible that the stem is too long, and causing the movement to bind when the lever is closed. If that's the case, it should be a simple matter of trimming down the stem just ever so slightly. I've seen a few with this symptom...

  5. i have to be a male gigolo for 2 months to pay for the taxes!!! :(:wounded1::yuk:

2 months?!? Sounds like you need to up your hourly rate, Eddie!

All kidding aside, I cannot believe that someone would actually declare something as 'replica' on their customs forms! C'mon folks... This isn't rocket science.

  6. Thanks, Doc. I typically run with the vintage or rep hollow link bracelets, so it's usually not a big deal. But in the case of my 16520, I need a modern bracelet, and hence the problem I've found with the 904L steel one that I have. I've had this problem prior with modern heavy link R*lex bracelets, but how easily the mind forgets once the problem has gone away (I haven't worn a genuine modern in years).

I could always use a hollow rep bracelet and polish the centers I suppose (or stick it out with this solid midlink one that isn't correct for the watch :( ). Perhaps when colder weather comes around, I'll give the 904L a try again. Perhaps it is a matter of sweat and heat exaggerating the problem...

  7. C'mon Kev... You know you'll be buying and selling again in a week! ;)

In all seriousness, I'm glad to hear that you've found what you've been looking for. And, yes... Sometimes it takes some money and time to figure out what you want, what works, what doesn't... But it's all part of the fun.

    Cheers!

    :)
