Hike, if I am correct you are assuming that the gen strap is the one on the outside on the first pic? The strap with the buckle looks like a gen or a v3 rubber strap, but the other one without the buckle is 100% rep. It is a strap from a V2 diver and it has the following flaws: Rubber strap grooves do not close at the end of the strips Rubber strap fonts too far centered (royal oak offshore font) Rubber strap texture is wrong Rep buckle - shorter and thinner Rep buckle - inside texture wrong as well on the tongue Rep buckle - logo inside too large and too far right Rep buckle - "Stainless Steel" should read "ACIER INOX" Unfortunately, this strap has been sold a lot on the bay...

Reminds me of a modded Yamaha XS650 around 77 - 78 could be plain wrong though

As far as AP straps go, no aftermarket hornback will be as per gen. But aftermarkets get close. It all depends on what you prefer. I prefer gen straps, never had a problem ordering them from a boutique. If you really want an aftermarket strap then I would recommend jacobstraps, he is a spanish strapmaker. His straps are better than the other ones available imo (hktan, apbands, ...). They are cheaper as well and they use inserts at the end of the strap as per gen. Gen has metal inserts while jacobstraps has plastic inserts but they are the same. The gen strap makes the watch imo.

Finally got my Tudor Monte Carlo parts... Now the fun begins
edgematic1 replied to Ephry73's topic in The Rolex Area
I got a spare stem, could be that it is still at my watchmaker... Got 3 stems, you can have one, send me a PM. I'm building the same 7032, the movement is with my watchmaker for a conversion. I bought the parts mentioned on the forum for the conversion (3 parts) but my watchmaker says 1 is incorrect??? He's been busy for 1.5month already while he said it would be a peace of cake... Will you age hands and markers on your own? I can't wait to get mine together...- 46 replies

Imo gen is overpriced but it's worth the upgrade, I have been searching for a while for a gen but in the end clark sent me a gen for free, yes, for free, such a gent he is. It was lying in his parts bin for years... If I wouldn't have gotten this one I would have picked the Phong as it seems quite close.

movement question, changing movement but want to keep the dw

Thanks for the good info! -
I would like to swap out an asian 2824 movement to a low beat swiss movement, preferably eta as well, but has to be low beat. The thing is, I want to keep the DW that was with the A2824. Are there ANY movement options? And if so, which ones? I've found these but I don't know if it would work, also, bear in mind the thickness... There are some ETA movements with 21,600 bph: ETA2828, ETA2842 and the ETA2846 also a myota 8215 movement is reliable and has that low beat + it's around $37 I guess. How about an A7750 low beat (or is that movement too thick?) Let me know!

Indeed Andy, but I'm still waiting for the gen strap pics. Anyhow, those are pics of a strap sold by sql_pl. Notice the grooves, how they end, this is one of the flaws. I also put a pic of the engravings on the buckle. Is wrong as well, as well as the buckle shape. The texture of the strap is wrong as well. All of the other flaws are already pointed out by me in this thread. I will update with a comparison once a gen strap is achieved. Rep: Gen:

I always get my tickets via Hublot. They can be had at the door as well, but they are not cheap. I thought around 50 Euros for 1 day. It is true what Andy says, most of the big watch houses are by invitation, or you have to know some inside people. I missed a lot of stuff the first year I went, but the second year I got some appointments, which makes it possible to view and touch new releases. But this is only with the biggest watch houses. Smaller ones like MB&F are extremely nice to visit, you can even chat with the CEO's of smaller houses. Also bear in mind that every hotel in Basel is fully booked months before! And those hotels ain't cheap either. I do like the idea though.

Time Zone, TRF or Watchprosite, also try Chrono24.com

I do like the Diver more, but since they are both divers they are still different pieces. The case is totally different on the boutique divers. The boutique divers, 3 different pieces, 300 pieces each. The Wempe is available in rose gold (35 pieces) and steel (175 pieces) and the Bartorelli is 50 pieces only. This one has a PVD'ed steel case and a bronze bezel. The nicest one is being repped!

Thanks for all the efforts that have been done by the mod team. I agree 100% Indeed! Now that is a true coincidence, I found those pics while surfing on photobucket. Didn't even knew they were of him! lol 1. The private information was indirectly posted since my first post, posting a link to a sales thread with his e-mails inside. The e-mail added was just an extra to show that he told me he was the guy. But you're right, I should not have posted that. Anyhow, people were asking for some proof it was the same person. 2. I do know a high grade person at AP. Not living far away from me, even closer to our RWG crewmember Stephane. I contacted 1 of the Mods on the 28th of March, a decision has been made on the 1st of March, to me that is not 48 hours, and I was dissapointed in this, yes. Anyhow, fact is that the team discussed it and came to a decision that they think is right. And I do understand that it is hard to make such a decision. Now, time frame does not matter anymore. As for putting time in it, NO, I did not. It was just a matter of looking up his FS threads with the same title copying them in each forum's search engine. And checking out my e-mails etc. Questions began to rise now and then with those ads I saw popping up, but since there were a lot of threads on RG with the title "gen or rep" I saw the same straps too often that more questions raised. I have informed the mods when I thought it had to be done, all forums were informed at the same time (rep forums that is). Since the mods on the other fora acted more rapidly it leaked out here and offshore started a thread, not me. I contacted the mods before a thread was made. I had to be certain it was him since he has a huge background here as well, this thread says it all, look at how much members tought is was wrong with what I claimed? Anyhow, the case is solved and that's all what matters. And he was a great member, this is a FACT.

It's hit and miss with replicas, but so far I've been very glad about them. Concerning a BK Submariner, you can't go wrong, I have no knowledge of Alpha watches (I do know them but never used them) but you can't go wrong with a BK sub. It might be pricey but you get what you pay for. BK is top notch.

Pre order up on puretime for Diver V3
edgematic1 replied to specialvat's topic in The Audemars Piguet Area
Nope, no differences. A flaw on the V3 Will be the fact that the movement is high beat vs low beat movt. on the gen. -

Well, it won't be the best rep ever seen in history, but it probably will be the best AP rep in the AP rep history. -

oh and the V3 only has single AR, not double like PATerai pointed out, gen has single AR as well, on the inside only. Cyclopse has double AR. The buckle is also same as the gen (engravings & shape). Also the shape of the crownguards is a bit different. -

I do Andy, please be patient for a couple of days. Awaiting pics from the gen straps. Already got pics from a strap being sold by sql_pl to a member. Those pics I can provide already.

I did not even know about this. Well, that is a good suggestion but on the otherhand it is a bad suggestion. You get to choose the references on your own, which would lead to picking the ones that were satisfied. And there are satisfied buyers, no doubt about that! But there are as well unsatisfied buyers, and they have to be heard as well. Please tell me about the AP Diver strap. This is being ignored since the beginning while the flaws are quite obvious. And how about the packaging. Let us know Maciek. We need a proper solution for all of this. Why did you got banned at TZ?
