  1. ....sheesh.. here we go again.... My kid is smarter than your's....
  2. Never put a word in your mouth,.. would like to see where I did... As for as the last word, at least pertaining to this subject {I hope},. .. I think I will,.... since it's my thread was started to save people money from buying extra dials and paying {someone} for mods only to end up with V2.5. I am grateful however that I finally got an honest remark from you, verses all those smiling jabs, that anyone with a bit of research can figure out the reasons for... V4 is not perfect, but at least all the mods can be done at home, and without extra parts... Is V2 discontinued ? I wasn't aware .... Jay pulled his V2 not because it wasn't available, but because it was not selling...
  3. If I had spent money & time modding a watch, only to have a better model come out the next month.. maybe I would react like Chieftang,... though I hope not... I always strive to save the community as much money as I can, and no-one can disagree that V4 is much more of a economically sound investment than V2, and feel that most will agree, more accurate, once they are holding the watch in their hands, verses squinting at photos, most of which were taken with a camcorder no less.. This window issue is small,.. so small that you will need a loupe to even notice it in person.. Our eyes are not blowing up photos in our heads,.. There is No Screaming,... Not even a whisper,.. Also it's worked to smooth edges unlike the previous version that lacks refinement like it was punched out then left alone, and that to me is an issue that separates what anyone would know about a rep or a gen... Not the amount of thickess of a bevel or a infinitesimal mark about an e,... but the QC. Take a look at the Gen photos that I have posted and you will see that the date window is supposed to be a trapezoid, not a square like the misleading photo posted above by dodger. Then take a look at the photo-shopped image where all I did was carve out a bit of the window,.. never moving the opening, only opening it the same as if someone were to file it a bit. You will notice that it still is in the correct position, only the bevel, which believe me, you will not notice one that small unless you had a magnifying glass, is made smaller. This is the last post I will speak of regarding accuracy,.. The photos are up and anyone can judge for themselves..
  4. Unfortunately,...People are going to buy what they want, from who they want... Look what happened when several traders were caught and exposed selling fake eta's..... Nothing - Nada - like it never happened... There is no unity except with a core of people... the rest are simply here to drive to the window,.. to take a quick glance at the menu,.. and pull the trigger,.. All this talking we are doing is so much static to them,.. they tune it out,.. and some even go so far as to post threads about Not Disturbing their blissful ignorance....
  5. I guess you lucked out and got one of the better pieces.... Here are photos of what I was referring to,.. also notice the window placement.. Regarding the bevel mod,... never said I would do it,..nor the mark above the 'e'... Those issues don't bother me, .. having seen them in person, the perspective live is soooo small that I have to squint and hold the watch to my face to even notice.. I do know however having done quite a bit of filing in my life of most materials that this could be done quite easily,... only requirement is the right tools for the job..
  6. I still say someone will have to hold the white version before we know,... Disagree about the date window being impossible to mod,.. even though without touching it, the cut is precision, unlike V2 which looks pushed through and a bit ragged.. I do appreciate the magnificent work done by Chieftang on his V2 and agree that AR would be great, on V4, as well as a lume job...
  7. I think photos of the white version color may be misleading,... as are most photos,... Since however I have the watch sitting here live while I type... Let me comment, on the other issues,... Regarding the Bezel points, mine are sharp, Zero difference to gen. Hands I feel are more accurate, though a bit exaggerated, there was attempt to shape them more like gen. Date window bevel is not as wide as the they look in macro photos, however can be modded easily, to bring them 99% to gen. Something you can do nothing about in version 2. The position of the window is also better placed in V4. Overall, not even including the cost of parts and mods to V2,... V4 is the most accurate Overseas to this point right out of the box,... and if modded {which are by the way, simple and free to do} jumps way above V2 in accuracy,.. QC, and possibly quality, as the bracelet did not require any work or mods as were required in V2.
  8. Danae, I looked all over the web for close-up photos to no avail...Can you share where you found to make the determination ? I ended up finally taking my cue from photos of version 3, {which is basically version 2 with a different bracelet clasp} Maxse, the Polished area on mine, is highly polished to a mirror finish..
  9. I think it depends upon the shape and size of your wrist, and the watch. Some people have wrists that are the thinnest at the end of their wrist, some like me have this thinner area higher up, and it seems that this area is where the watch will eventually settle. As for the fit of the band... I prefer it to give me a bit of room, but not to where it moves around like a piece of jewerly.
  10. You would have to pull the hands unfortunately, but the filing with jeweler's flat files would be simple,.. just a matter of taking your time and using a loupe. The mark above the 'E' could be done by stencil tape...
  11. Looks like this version 4 can be the only watch that anyone could mod to perfection... A small mark above the 'e' and a bit of filing out of some of the bevel in the date window would bring it very, very close to gen specs.... Then for more professional work.. You could add a coat of AR on the outside and relume if you wanted to go that far... I'm sure someone here will soon present a review show with all those simple mods ....
  12. Good going Drop.... ! Interesting about the different serial number... The date window bevel seems also wider on this model .... How much is she selling them for ?
  13. Replicas will be what they are,.. for me all my purchases now and in future will be those that don't require mods,...and this piece is one of those rare ones. I understand that some may want to place that teeny mark above their 'e' which would be so easy, but I wouldn't bother as I never even noticed it before. The Automatic font is fine.. You would have to have a loupe and a gen in one hand and your rep in the other to just begin to descern a difference, and would still have arguments valid on both sides. Regarding steps backwards,.. I don't see any. The date window bevel though not exact, is an improvement, as are the hands. You will also find the dial face gloss to be much improved and I would say perfected. Demanding any more, is stepping outside the realms of practicality best reserved for genuine.. For those that still don't understand the price difference,.. I was the only one who got away with the $25 price difference of version 2, but that was an error on Jay's part that we should not expect repeated... I say again however, that before this version 4 came out, people were paying $268 for version 3, then ordering a version 1 dial from Jay plus shipping, and then paying to have it modded. I don't know what all that added up to,.. but this model saves you a great deal of money, and time, no matter how you look at it... Same as the 'Old Factory' replicas, which are no longer around... so wait around at your own risk...
  14. The price has not been Bumped.. $225 is for for version 2 not version 4 which requires no mods.. I think also in this thread someone has already answered the question as to availability of white, which and correct me if I am wrong.. is Yes. As for quick ordering... in this game.. I would not count on it.. To do so is only asking for the customs Gods to make fun of your plans.... Hey Jumbie,... I just lucked out,.. but would gladly pay $25 more not to have to pay for mods and still end up with a bad looking date window and hands...from version 3. Not to mention that it's $18 cheaper than Josh or Trusty's Version 3.
  15. Gorgeous !! Great Piece Ubi,.. and I also like Euno love that blue/green dial ! Think that is the way I will go ...
  16. I agree Arch... most replicas can use some finishing work,.. Bertieng, With regards to this bracelets polished sections,.. it's pretty well done,.. especially the horizontal areas which are the ones you see the most, and are perfect.. a couple of links on the vertical arrow shaped areas I can discern some lines.. but they are still reflective, mirror like, and would take close inspection to notice and don't bother me in the slightest... There are also no sharp areas on the band or case.. period.. Whoever did this piece did an excellent job.. I can only hope they all turn out this good,.. as I am ordering another in white.. 99% of the time I switch out metal bracelets for leather however in this case, I actually prefer this over leather..not only in looks but in comfort.. This is my 2nd overseas and by far the best... Good enough for me to cut my want list down to two more reps, before I will give it rest.... another overseas and a 3717...
  17. Thanks for the caseback photo Arch ! Looking at the caseback on this model, the only difference I can see is the gen has a bit more detail on the lower section of the ship.... other than that it's pretty accurate including the ocean waves and dark sky.. I'm glad other watches are on the way to members here,..as I will be glad when we get some better photos up of this gem, as my camcorder photos don't do it justice what-so-ever !
  18. He does take weekends off.. so expect delays then...
  19. He ususally takes a few days to reply to me,.. which is normal for him and nothing to get upset about.. After all,.. nothing we deal with here is a matter of life & death,.. no matter how we addicts feel at times.. ..that is unless you have a rep pacemaker..
  20. A few weeks green, and already throwing daggers at the heart of what it takes to maintain a board that you claim not to need. I Agree with Two Tone,... Why bother ? From your long winded posts that waste more bandwidth than your shortsighted comments could ever overcome... Maybe The Zigmeister was looking into a crystal ball....
  21. There are many ways to support the board,...from upgrading your membership to contributions of time and talent,...True. However I don't agree with anyone who measures extra gain of upgrading purely from a selfish perspective, of how many more watches they have access to, while discounting the cost it takes to run this board and the knowledge that you give to everyone in the family when you do. I can understand those that cannot upgrade for reasons of locality, or financial contraints, {which is my situation} but if cheapness is your reasoning, the cost in comparison to the discounts, the tips, and inside knowledge on one watch, which could save you hundreds,.. then that argument is not valid, and to my perspective,.. a detriment to the community as a whole.
  22. True,.. Jay's site manager is way behind the times.... Great New'z however about the 3717 ! ! ! Regarding the movement,.. I could have sworn that The Zigmeister reported no major difference between the old and new 7750's.. as a matter of fact he still wears and owns an old engine 196...
  23. Stephanie that watch is Gorgeous ! I was sure I would go for the Gmt,. but now.... What is the thickness ?
