With everyone so fascinated with Rolex no one has really paid as much attention to IMNSHO the greatest dive watch out there! The Seiko Marine Master 600m (SBDB001). It is honestly a fantastic design but the nerd inside of me gushes at the engineering marvel of the Spring Drive movement. Which uses an electronic brake instead of a traditional escapement to unwind the mainspring at a constant force (correct me if I am wrong). My watch is accurate to 4 seconds a month. I just think more people should think about Seiko Spring drive watches when they think about purchasing a luxury watch.
Watch got Sent to The Zigmeister for full service and Band got sent to Michael Young for restoration.
I will update this thread when I get each part back.
Can't believe how cheap this is going to wind up being! My best pickup ever IMO
OH man I bought it so long ago I can't really remember what I paid for it. I'll have to go search my e-mail archives. I have owned many watches over the years and this is the only one that remains of the original collection.
Context is king.
I've been trading watches since college. My friends have seen me with $100 seiko's and 15k patek's and the like. They don't even bat an eye when I rock my Dewitt Academia.
Even when people comment on the Dewitt none of them mention anything about price just that they think its a super cool watch.
The folded/fixed links, because they are gold are very very easy to manipulate safely if they are heated up. Almost scalding hot water enables you to manipulate the gold without doing any damage to it and making it much easier to take it apart and put it back together.
Both movements are ETA and are not the correct BPH, they are both 28,800 I don't really care enough to go through the efforts of changing them. They both keep excellent time. I honestly don't remember where i got the hands.
Decided to go with the clarks rather than the gen crystal as its not really worth the extra money especially with how good the clarks is on the acryllic. If this were sapphire I'd probably get the real deal as I've found its significantly better.
Hopefully going to try getting everything put together this weekend and then send it out to get an ever so slight polish.
