I did promise to do some side by side pics a while ago so here is a Gen 111H caseset next to the new 111J and the new 219. As you know both these reps come from different factories so they are the cases we can expect from each on all the new PAMs to come I am not sure what factor the 111J comes from but the 219 comes from the HB factory as does the 177 and I understand the 005 (I am sure if I got that wrong it will be posted ) Having taken advice from a true PAM expert, I can say the 111 case is the better built and lends itself to projects more readily than the others, this in the main is due to its construction. I thought it would be useful to show by pics how they compare....hopefully you can draw your own conclusions unfortunately I have forgotten which is which !!! ;) But I am sure you will be able to tell for yourselves given the clues in the pics The 219 case should be easy given the clue is in the CG!! The gen case is complete ie gen CG, gen crown, gen crystal etc but thats all I can remember

I could not edit my previous post but having reread what I wrote I would add.... for me personally I never pretend my reps are anything but that.... even though I have never been called out, I always state the watch is a rep when I recieve compliments..I have gens in equal measure so I really have no hang up about stating whether its rep or not.. If you are trying to fool people then IMHO you deserve to get called out Of course as with everything we discuss on this forum it all comes down to your own personal opinion.....

A fantasy watch, good or not is a bad rep. The fact this watch is a good rep by definition makes it better than a fantasy. Where it lacks is in functionality not appearance but that argument can be made on several complications that are copied. To spot the 286 is not a rattrapante you need to ask assuming you know what that means and if you do then all you have to do to spot a fantasy is look at it from a distance without ever having to approach the owner. No matter how you dress it up the chances of being asked are minimal the chance that that person when asking and if asking will know what it's suppose to do are even less likely...

Thank you FGD and Zig! My 201a is almost complete! :)

Thanks Sam Mate that dial is sweet !! The finish is superb and that Lume job!! I have used the 111 cases for a couple of PreA projects but as I have a 202 dial and hands from Simon I really feel the need for a PreV and it's your fault!! You mention using Seads lever but you reshaped it was that just to fit the LH shape (curviature) or did you reshape the top of the lever as well? And what was your thinking in deciding to do that? Did you split an LH and Sead to do it or having the parts split anyway? Thanks again mate I appreciate you taking the time mate PS I don't suppose you might have a spare compression ring laying about sorry for the OT -
No probs mate I will post some tomorrow Personally I prefer this dial

Sam you tease!!! It would be great to see the dial from an angle so you get least distortion off the crystal and can see the depth of the lume, if you know what I mean..,big boy!! -
If you go with the latest version the 177L then this is the best version OTB as it comes from the one factory you can get it from anyof the dealers. However if you want one with the crown sorted etc then contact Sead or Vac as they will source one and make the mods for you but again these are from the same factory. (the hublot factory)

That dial is simply lovely mate Would love to see some more angled pics of it Congrats mate it's really come together It's hard to tell but did you reshape the case at all? -
I bought this watch last year and despite its few flaws I really like it....Its got great wrist presence and is a real eyecatcher.... I have had so many comments when wearing this watch... It measure 52mm but is very comfortable to wear given its depth... OTB the AR isnt great and nor is the lume but I decided to send this to Domi so he could work his magic and I have to say Domi's lume job is simply stunning especially when you consider the size of the numerals !! I have seen a couple of these relumed and I have to say IMHO this is better by far and really highlights Domi's skill.... I had the strap made by Dangerous and I think John did a great job and the tone and stitching really lifts the dial IMHO This watch is a lovely piece in its own right and to be fair despite its flaws its a nice rep ... Here is the gen... And a wristie

The pin will come out mate and that dimp can be removed..if your not comfortable doing it yourself mate then send it off to a modder and get it serviced Or tell the dealer to replace watch Though it will mean sending it back

Picking up on TXs point has anyone made comment as to the size of the CG in similar respect to the way the 177 is undersized? This might have a bearing on the options.. The crown mod would at least make it better but as I said before the pic could be decieving to the extent of the problem you see in the QC pics
-
Without a pic its difficult to offer options but if the QC pics didnt pick it out I would suggest a simple repair might be possible.. You wont find a better alternative to the version you have mate to be fair but you should at least try contacting the dealer and telling him the problem maybe suggest just sending back the CG for replacement if not the watch.. If as you should ....be getting it serviced then you have the opportunity to get it sorted as well.... by sending it to Domi or Zig depending where you are and customs etc you can in all likelihood get it sorted with effecting the overall look of the CG as it should be
-
I like it a lot and think you have done a great job so far mate I definitely think the small drawers is a good idea Its difficult to give suggestions as I dont do that much work on watches to know what you would want in front of you or where to reach for. But I would imagine a few drop wells (like Ink wells) felted inside and with liftable lids might be useful Perhaps a drawer with the same above might be better I am not sure What about a slight lip on the edges to prevent roll offs A raiseable area in front perhaps like a lectern or maybe a drawer then when emptied of its tools for the desk can then be turned over to give a raised working area or maybe where the desk angles in have the back slightly higher. Put non slip mating on base of the overall box Place a hole in back and conduit of some kind to allow get power from the bvack to the front without having wires laying over the desk etc Sorry if I am stating rubbish or the obvious but just a few thoughts I think its a great job and great idea mate :)

Crystals are the same as the 177 and 219 mate much better than the 111 and about as good as the EL thick crystals you sometimes see about but what sets these apart is the AR which is also very good for reps.
-
Sorry mate I just noticed your question, apologies. Only a little mate as I do with all of them But on this it didnt need anything if I am honest
-
Thanks mate It was one of Big Bears
-
Mate accuracy is overrated most of the time (Yes I did say that!!! ).... after all there are plenty of gen owners who change the look of their gens !! DLC, PVD, repolishing etc etc Why cant we if we like it
-
I would contact Brightlight - Member here and on other RWG He is a watchsmith that does basic repairs in UK he might be able to help mate if not your best option is to get it to Domi in Germany, no customs issues etc and the guy does great work
-
Thanks D I shall wait patiently I cant say I have seen Ti polished before...well not intentionally
-
I agree thats what drew me to it.... Hopefully the search to my reference showed what I meant ? I absolutely hate Marmite but funnily enough I know plenty of you colonials who love it... Apparently you guys cant get it over there but I have seen it in places where a lot of Brits go in US like Kissimee FL etc... I think you guys do get Vegimite (Its Australian) which I understand is similar.. I am sure ST4 will tell us If not, I would happily send you a 'sample' tub if you want mate It was a By-product and originally the breweries use to pay companies to remove it from the barrels till some bright spark realised its potential..bit like Cornflakes or Coke etc in that these werent originally meant for the purpose that they have now..

Blimey D ........ "a bit !!! " Be interested to see more of a polished Ti PAM - post a thread mate Please
