  1. @ Mapman57 I like the look of that re-lumed insert. Can't see it on WSO ebay store, can you post a link to where I might buy one? Thanks.
  2. Esteemed colleagues, I was wondering what people thought of the WSO 5513 insert? I have one as a temporary measure on my 5513 and the pearl is a bit funny - lets call the pearl a "superdome" when the gen is flatter but I was thinking of buying another WSO insert and replacing the "superdome" pearl with a Yuki pearl, having the Yuki pearl painted with a nice creamy/aged paint to match the hands and dial (also to be re-painted), what do you think of this a s a plan? All comments and opinions gratefully received.
  3. Reminds me of the story of the woman who sold her husbands car on ebay for $10 or something. Don't know if it's true but I love stories like that.
  4. I don't know what the going rate is but I've bought gen NOS 703's (crowns that is) for less than $100 a few times before.
  5. Definitely sell the franken. Well done by the way
  6. Started off with a Milgauss! Nice one. Wear it well and enjoy. The future's bright.
  7. On reflection I have to agree with the 'keep it dry' camp. I have a gen 1952 semi bubble back oyster perpetual which is - in theory totally waterproof but there's no way I'd let it near water, too risky. So, lets keep the gens dry and let those rubbish, shameful excuses for watches, commonly called 'fakes' do all the hard work and prove their worth in the real world. Long live the well made rep
  8. I have got a used gen T39 and am in two minds weather to put it on my 1665 which currently sports a Clarks rep. The watch has been tested to 3 atm pressure and I go swimming with it confidently so I think i will stick with the Clarks. Seems wrong to wear a divers watch that has such great pedigree but can't even be able to take a quick dip in the pool!
  9. These are pretty good - not perfect but pretty good: http://www.pmwf.com/Watches/WATCHSALES04/WATCHACCESSORIES4/BezelInsertForRolex1680SwissMade/BezelInsertForRolex1680.htm Swap the pearl for an Ofrei or Yuki and you've got a pretty good price/accuracy compromise.
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong but given the proliferation of parts for sale on VRF it is a franken builders dream (wallet permitting). Am I also mistaken in my impression that our friends over on VRF look down on us here at RWG because we build 'fake' watches? Hypocrisy? I think so! Discuss:
  11. Agreed. Fit a watchny bezel and you have the icing on the cake. Lovely, wear it well.
  12. Amazing start to what I'm sure will be a fantastic build. Hang on to your wallet - it's going to be a bumpy ride!
  13. @ Nook, perfecto! Just my colour should go well with my leather chaps and cowboy hat. My moustache is coming on great guns as well. It's fun to stay at the YMCA!!
  14. It is the postage that kills me and, I don't want any tools!
  15. @ Nook, Darn it - I was looking for that. If I paypal you the stamp money will you post it back to me?Anyway, back on topic, I've also got a yuki pearl on the way to me so I'll be able to have the pearl, hands and dial all done the same colour. Is the 'blank' yuki pearl any good? I know the ofrei pearls are good but I can't bring myself to shell out $65 for one!
