what happened to esmarc? haven't seen him around for a while...
-
This happened to my JimmyFu CG after I put it together... it was ok at first but when i had the pin fully hammered in the lever stayed slightly open. I can close it shut but it opens itself again. I think the reason for mine is a bit of the rubber sleeve caught somewhere in there. Not sure if it is the same for your case though.

Wow... I wonder if it would be possible as well for you to AR the cyclops as well before you install it to the crystal? Or is there an issue with not being able to glue it on or the heat damaging the AR?

Sean, I have never dealt with Joe and never will just because I like to be really careful and have read many negative dealings with him... just curious, how much did joe charge you for doing your watch? and why dont u post your pictures of what work he did for us to see? just that you seem to defend him strongly, when you can see for yourself dieselpower's watch and what he paid for it... would you be a happy customer if you were in dieselpower's position?

I fully agree... I have always used the search button but seem unable to find what i want. One reason is cos there are far too many results... and another reason is because people use different terms for different things (pam, pannie, panerai, cg, crown guard, mbw, mbk, etc...), also... as the search goes through the whole thread/topic... many times the words we search for will turn up in totally unrelated topics... maybe i am just crap at using the search function properly...

are we still waiting for this watch??? haha...
-
not to be disrespectful... but if i had the right tools... i am quite confident that I could do a better job than joe at modding watches!!! haha... and that is from somebody that only just dissasembled a watch for the first time a couple of weeks ago and has never even removed hands from a dial... i did however sand the edges of my case and bracelet of my mbk 1680 last week... feels much better! joe would have charged what? $75?? dang...

My moneys on Sth Africa to win the world cup! England have been playing very well since the quarter finals, but... I think they probably still aren't good enough to beat SA. I think they will be having a few dropkicks to try to score some points.

Someone is offering me the discontinued moonwatch for a very good price and I am seriously considering it... so the one on trusty's is no longer available? Is that right? why does he still list it then? The one I am being offered is the one with minutes (or should i say seconds?) on the dial... is this one less desirable? Should i jump on it? Thanks. EDIT: Had a look at the photos the seller provided and looks like the models available now are different and dont have the dome front crystal.

our league team is pretty hopeless... i don't even get up to watch their games...

I kinda felt that England would beat France the way they played in the Quarter finals... England is playing pretty well, but SA will win the cup. I am still having withdrawals from the All Blacks losing to the French... sigh...

waiting for the experts...

Is it just me or did you post the same photos 3 times???

I thought that we should remove the stem in time setting position? So that the hacking is on? Or is this only if you intend to remove the hands so you set the hands to 12:00?
-
Hey Laz... did u change the caseback afterall???
-
I was just curious if other members are the same as me... in the past, when I wanted to set the time I just unscrewed the crown on my watch and set the time and screwed the crown back on. End of story... Lately, with my watch fetish growing and buying more watches... when I set the time, I tend to wait till the second hand reaches zero (or the 12 o'clock marker) then I pull out the crown so the second hand stops exactly, or close to zero. I then set the time exact to the minute (pointing directly at the marker), so I know the minute hand will be pointing exactly to the minute as the second hand reaches zero. Sometimes when I am busy or in a hurry where I can't be bothered to wait for the second hand to reach zero, I will set the minute hand accordingly, if the second hand is close to 30 secs, I will set the minute hand in the middle of two minute markers, or if the second hand is at 15 secs, I will set the minute hand a quarter of the way and so on... Am I the only one doing this??? Am I going crazy???

Yes, I think I tried turning the screw ( I think its the one in the middle of the watch which the rotor spins around ), but it is an odd size... really thin and narrow gap ad shallow... could not really fit any of my screwdrivers in. Will need to get a full set of tools I guess before I go any further.

This is a cheap street rep so I am not worried about touching the dial or movement, just using it as practice in case I need to open my other watches up in the future to remove the crystal or change datewheels, etc... Will start hunting for a hand puller and watch paper... is baking paper good enough? its grease proof... isn't it?
-
What about the datewheels??? I think there are quite a few members who have not received the datewheels, myself included...

hmm... the nerve of the guy... so I guess he has moved up to higher society...

I did this a few days ago but only had time to take photos now. The watch is a cheap HBB copy with faux chrono's. Thought I would do it as a learning exercise so I will know how to dissasemble a watch in the future if I am brave enough to do any modding or even just to remove the crystal for AR coating. Picture of dissasembled watch: One question though, I don't know how to remove the rotor from the movement. How can I do this? The next watch I will dissasemble will probably be the fantasy Pam 8 days rep with the three barrel copy... now I need a hand removal tool and movement holder so I can practice removing the hands.

I have seen TTK use that as his email address before...

Interesting comparison between a real and fake Submariner
ahchard replied to runne's topic in The Rolex Area
which model of the LV rep are they comparing it with there? -
The experts are probably still in bed... do you mind telling me where you sourced these parts from? You can PM me directly thanks!!! I am also looking at doing the 1680 project for my MBK. Your 1680 dial looks gen... maybe professionally refinished?

The caseback, though has a very well aged "look"... is still a rep caseback as far as I can tell...
