Damn it Maciek. You are really starting to push my buttons..... those pictures tempt me getting one of these, at a time when I'm getting rid of all the reps in my collection. However, I would replace it with the kevlar strap, as the bracelet edges don't appear beveled, and that's a bit annoying to me.

Let The Games Being--chronomat123 Has Crossed The Wrong Person
thomasng replied to Estaban's topic in The looney bin
Cut this crap out guys. This is the stuff I'm talking about that causes one to drift away from this board, the childish fist-fights with numerous cheap and booooooring cheap shots at each other (especially chronomat123). -
Second hand Omega's are not overpriced for what they are.... They're very well built, there's still the quality and craftsmanship in there. Just because the 7750 ebauche is cheap, doesn't mean Omega doesn't elaborate (decoration, etc.) on the movement, etc. A rep always has this quality control problem, and you still have the "scare" of being called out by people. A watch that truly isn't worth the money is the FM King Conquistador Chrono- $25,000 for a SS watch with a 7750 movement. That's ridiculous. $1000-$2000 for a Omega that's well built and will last a lifetime is NOT overpriced. This was my breakdown: $100- Relume (The Zigmeister) $150- Service (The Zigmeister) $100- Bezel insert (Genuine Omega bezel inserts are expensive from what I hear) New 7750- $250 Watch base- $250 Already at $850, and this doesn't include AR coating..................

This has one major flaw. The bracelet uses screws instead of pins like the genuine. (According to Watchhonpo's site, the rep has screws)

SMP Pro Chrono. Listed it for 2 months on RWG, no one wanted it until krustybrand scooped it up. I can easily get one with full box and papers now for $1300 or so, like new. A Ti Chrono one now goes on TZ about $1300 average.
-
Relume, pearl to fix and genuine 7750, would put you at something like $700 when completely done, and you still have a rep in the end. I sold my genuine for $1000 a few months ago. No matter what you do to it, it's still a rep in the end, the quality just isn't up there with the genuine, and a $300 difference is a no-brainer.

How Many Watches In Your Collection Rec. Wrist Time?
thomasng replied to ubiquitous's topic in General Discussion
I had about 22 different replica watches, and almost 10 genuines a few weeks ago. I have reduced that to just 7 replicas and 2 genuines now. In my current collection, the only watch that gets any wrist time is my Roger Dubuis Easy Diver. My AP JPM Offshore is out for refinishing and servicing under warranty. I also wear the PAM 029 GMT rep around once in a while, it's my favourite as I spent a lot of time (and money!) modding it. -
Please don't misunderstand me, I didn't accuse you of accusing me of being in Finepics deal, I just didn't want others to misunderstand. Yes, I will admit to fault on my part, and I am going to be changing my procedures, so that I will let the first person know there are people waiting in line, yada yada yada, and tell them payment is required immediately. I guess I have learned a lesson by having a angry customer. I am glad that it worked out for you in the end anyways, and I apologize again. My most harrowing experience was selling my AP Offshore Rubberclad a few months back. 20-30 emails all showing interest. Somebody says "I'll take it, wait for the wire", 24 hours later, I ask about it, no response, but I still take his word for it, and let everyone else know. Then, the buyer just disappeared. This happened over 5 times before I was able to sell the watch. I originally had emails from well-known people offering to buy it, but with first-come-first-serve, I had no choice to deny them, and by the time my patience expired, they already bought somewhere else. This wasted almost 3 weeks, and my asking price was lowered almost $1000 before it was finally sold to a real buyer. My new policy now is, that I get to choose who I will sell to, and I don't care who came first. I just choose to hold the watch for the person who I know best. I'll admit, sometimes I get annoyed by "scan-fishers" who know what the watch looks like anyways, and I've given them images of papers, box, the back, front and sides reasonably well anyways. My most weird request was to take a video of the watch, which really irked me, as I felt he was nothing but a time-waster (I did it in the end, and he did end up being a time-waster).

That has happened only once through dozens of sales. In that case, I just clicked the "Refund Payment" button on the Paypal page, and it's a done deal. No one loses anything, neither buyer or seller, Paypal does not take any percentage of the payment if a refund is issued. I know, it's time to change my procedures up, as they may be a bit stupid, but I'm retiring from replica watches soon and returning to my Purist roots soon anyways. For genuines, I adopt a different policy, I choose whoever I want to sell to. I will give priority to Canadian buyers, well known members or people who have bought from me before, for the newbies, that's too bad. I can't risk a fake $20,000 Money Order, or a fraudulent wire transfer.

Look man, I'm truly very sorry that had to happen. I recieved 6 or 7 PMs on that DW Daytona. The person who got it, I got his PM within minutes. Yours was third or so. I responded to yours immediately, within minutes of recieving it, along with everyone else. I sent out PMs to all 3 people that my Paypal address was XXXX. I recieved person #2s payment FIRST, and I had to let both the others know that it was sold already, and offered apologies. You must understand that this is my way to do business, first come first serve, and unfortunately, you were at a disadvantage, but sorry it had to work out like that. I just feel that whoever's payment I recieve first, should get it. That's the problem here, you have multiple people interested in an item, and I have had dozens of flakes in the past, and when I contacted the others, they didn't want it anymore. I do not believe there was ANYTHING wrong with what I did, and other people may think otherwise, I understand. End of rant, I just had to come to my defence. And no, I was not the person who did that to Finepics.

I know, I've been a member on here for over half a year, and even longer from the old RWG, but I don't know where to post this.... Does anyone have a new Fiddy dial they can sell me? Mine was scratched badly in an accident when removing the crystal, and I want to get this fixed after 1/2 a year sitting in the drawer. Thanks for your help in advance.
-
Nope, never made a strap version. They made a strap "Nautilus" in the early 90s, but this was later renamed the Aquanaut.
-
@thedoctor A Patek Philippe collector can tell the difference. The clasp fliplock is off, it's not quite as detailed as the genuine, and the finishing still isn't there, don't forget this is 1/100 of the price.
-
Awesome watch it is, the dial on yours looks even better than the one I have, as the numerals on mine are larger, and the "Patek Philippe" font is slightly larger, but the same casing. Congrats on a nice watch.
-
$900 for this rep is EXPENSIVE....... A nice preowned genuine would cost maybe $1400 or $1500, or even less. And good luck trying to sell the replica off when you don't want it, you'll take a huge loss, while if you go the genuine way, you'll recover most of your investment, and maybe even make money!

My procedure is I record the names of all interested parties, and list them in order their PMs arrived. Whoever pays first from this group gets it first. I don't care if the first offer was lower than the second offer, but in general, it's first come, first serve. (For example, I had a recent transaction, someone offered $170, while the next guy offered to pay full pop, but I ended up recieving the $170 first, and it had to go to him.) Sometimes, I unfortunately overlook some PMs as I get 10 or 12 a day when I'm selling, sometimes I feel PMing 3 or 4 people back is enough, and if none of them are interested, I'll move on to the next few. So here, I will apologize to the people who PM me but sometimes don't get a response, but I try my best to answer everything.

This thread definitely is not RWG's finest hour of intelligence. Yo mamma's so fat that she has her own Member of Parliament! (Congressman for Americans)

btw- Prince Jewellery and Watch in Hong Kong is not an AD for Panerai, nor do they sell grey market/used pieces.

I used to have a 3710 Nautilus, and it had to be one of the finest stainless steel watches out there, maybe even a small tick above the Royal Oak. But the watch just seemed to lack character, and despite the larger size, it just seemed too "old" to me. Yes, it is pretty ugly, and is definitely not what a "Patek" should be like, but hey, it's a watch with the Patek name on it after all. The Aquanaut is worse, the rubber strap is thin and cheap feeling (the rep strap feels better!), and the dial looks like it's made from plastic, but I liked the display back which allows one to watch the consummately finished Patek movement in action. My idea of Patek is the classic 3919 Calatrava and models like the 5070. Those are beautiful, classic watches that really define what a Patek is. The newer Pateks are a disgrace to the brand name, especially the new Skeleton Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar, looks like a cheap rep made in China. I also don't fancy the new Annual Calendar Chrono, and despite the exquisite in-house chrono movement, the dial stinks, although it still looked a bit better in person. For now at least, I'm praying I will get that magical call from my Patek AD about an incoming 5970.

Wow, that sucks. And I thought recieving a DOA DW Daytona with a bezel that fell off, a cracked crystal, and a short bracelet was pretty bad.

@MJP, I really wish you would cut the political crap, as it's normally a very sensitive issue and has led to members going at each others necks.

Anyone here like the idea of using a 063 GMT for a PVD project? I'm incredibly tempted to do this for some reason, I want to have something truly one of a kind. Any input?
