  1. I wouldn't hold my breath for it. But the genuine IWC buckles so come in SS as well anyways. But if you're really that anal, you can order the genuine Ti buckle from an IWC AD (I inquired before), and they cost about $70 US.
  2. I will probably be the first to get it, as it's already on its journey to Canada. I'll let everyone know about the link situation. The link does look to be Ti in King's pictures, or at least they didn't make it as obivous as the GST. Besides, if the link really bothers you, just get the nylon strap and your problems are flushed away.
  3. The IWC AMG Ingenieur Chrono is very accurate. It's just lacking AR from being perfect.
  4. Ask King, she has quick response and quite a good price for this piece. Hopefully I'll have it next week.
  5. YES!!!!!!!!!!! This is what I've been waiting for! I'm going to order both of them.
  6. I collect paper money What I see, it would be in your interest to let them go to the numismatic guy. Uncut US notes aren't worth much over their face value because of the large supply available. Unfortunately, the BEP does perpetuate a ripoff with selling the sheet at such a markup when it's actually less effort to them not to cut the notes. A lot of collectors do not touch sheets because of the inability to keep them in perfect condition, you have to roll them and you rarely have the space to lay them flat in storage. As for star notes, they are inserted into bundles of new notes that are found with printing errors. After the notes are produced, they are checked for errors at many stages, and normally after the notes are cut and numbered, machines weed out the notes that have printing or cutting errors. In place of this damaged note, a prepared stack of notes with stars at the end of the numbers are inserted. It would be too costly to make a note with the same serial number again, so this is a cost effective method to replace a damaged note.
  7. What the hell are the both of you smoking? Both of these are genuine.
  8. It's just a shame that this won't be another one of the super accurate reps like the Hublot Big Bang Probably the genuine is too expensive to buy and replicate.
  9. I am sitting here, praying that my PhD application is accepted. It would be a great honour to work with the faculty at the top university in Canada. I feel I am more than qualified, as I exceed all the requirements and I'm confident that my focus of research will appeal to those who will read my application. I have an outstanding GPA from both my undergraduate and MBA programs and lots of work experience, with excellent references. It will be quite a feeling returning to the same school after 8 years...
  10. The Roger Dubuis font on the dial is completely off. I hope they fix this. I see a lot wrong with this watch: - Lack of AR - Crown and pushers are too small - Bezel numbers are off - Hands to small.
  11. After much pondering for months, I've decided to cancel my move to the UK. I do not want another job that I will be working long hours in, looking at numbers day in and day out. The money that I would make from it is no reason for me to feel like I'm "suffering" for a few more years. Money isn't everything in life, there are much better things to do. Being an investment banker would mean I would no longer have a life and it isn't very satisfying either. Instead, I've decided to pursue my goal of becoming a professor, as I would have the opportunity to contribute to the world of knowledge while helping others in their future paths. I've applied to pursue a PhD in Management and Economics at the University of Toronto for this coming September, to bring me one step closer to my goal. I won't be making any money at all, as you are not permitted to participate in more than 10 hours of work outside of research, and I will be getting some funding for research. I want to start this thread so people can share any major decisions in life they suddenly make from a realization or discovery they make.
  12. No competition with that gorgeous Breguet, that's for sure. If you would take it in a Classique case (even better IMO) with the same movement, it's all yours for $65,000 preowned. Now that really makes the BB Tourbillon look like a pile of puke. Heck, even the RM 002 Tourbillon is cheaper than the BB Tourbillon, and the RM 002 is one badass watch that I had for a week. Basically, the Royal Oak is an unequalled and unparalleled watch in the high horology market. It was the first steel watch from the "Big 3", and everyone else followed them. They started the innovative monocoque case design, and the first idea of slapping a huge price tag on a steel watch. Then came the Offshore, another shock to high horology. The first oversized watch from a high end brand like AP also became the icon and set the standard for contemporary design among the top manufactures. The value in the Offshore comes from its history and its symbolic significance in the watch market, coming from arguably the top manufacture in Switzerland (Patek is falling behind in quality).
  13. Even I surprised myself.... I guess I bought the rep just to get a feel for it for a few hundred dollars, instead of paying for a genuine... I am willing to pay $26,000 for a RBII Offshore, but I wouldn't pay more than $2,000 for a genuine HBB. Otherwise, I agree with you totally that it is a complete ripoff of the Offshore, especially the Montoya version. And the ridiculous thing is that the genuine piece doesn't sell that for much less than the Offshore (Once you include the discounting that comes with the ROO)! And don't forget, all there is inside is a poorly finished ETA movement, while the ROO uses a JLC movement with DD module. The design of the ROO is also much more practical, the screws on the front actually has purpose, and the bezel has perfect symmetry, while the HBB bezel's screws don't align in contrast to the Offshore. What's even worse is the Bigger Bang Tourbillon sells for more than $150,000 and uses a Progress tourbillon movement. The Royal Oak Chrono Tourbillon in SS sells for less and has a much more complicated movement.
  14. What ticks me off is I had to pay $47.00 Canadian to return it
  15. Agreed. Considering the high price I paid for this (I was in the pre-order group), I definitely expected much better from this...
  16. I had considered giving it a try, even if it was the wrong model, but the chewed screws and misaligned bezel were insults on top, as they are far worse flaws then anything the watch could ever have. The clasp is completely useless, as it just unlatches itself after a few minutes on the wrist. You only need a little bit of force to pull open the clasp without using the buttons. And the chrono reset was stuck when it had arrived, after toying with it for a bit the chrono started working again. There was a reason why I didn't order the RG bezel version, because I was afraid the plating would oxidize and come off after a while. And I expected the carbon fiber of the dial to look fake, (which it did on my examination compared to my Roger Dubuis). This is not a good experience when you start buying reps again after a hiatus.
  17. Nope, no pics as the camera is dead. I am very disappointed, considering the price I paid for it, and the agony of waiting for it to arrive. At the same time, I am quite pleased with the weight of the watch, and the quality of the polished and brushed surfaces. The genuine AR also makes quite a difference.
  18. I recieved my Hublot BB and I am rather disappointed for a number of reasons: - Bezel is crooked, the brushing goes horizontally - Lug screws are chewed up and stuck - Clasp is loose, pops open when on the wrist. - I got the RG version shipped to me, when I had ordered SS. What do you think? Should it go back?
  19. Didn't I give you advice about not buying watches you don't like?
  20. Unfortunately, it seems Ti reps are dying down... A lot of them go out of production pretty quickly, and I haven't seen a new rep using Ti in a while, a lot of watches that are originally titanium are repped as SS. (Think 194 and AMG Ingenieur)
  21. Yes, it is the exact same, except for the different dial variation which George has. George's version has an Asian 7750.
  22. Screw that, this piece is way too expensive, especially if the dial still has a lot of flaws!
