  1. Good to see ya back around here Pugs! I'll be giving my 16750 addition some due attention for the next few days.
  2. Thanks a lot B, The tritium patina sealed the deal for me, not to mention the condition. I'm going to look for a more aged insert for it at some point.
  3. Thank you D and BT, I appreciate it! I'm really happy with the purchase.
  4. Here's a new addition to my stable a matte dial transitional 16750 from 1979 (6 million SN) with a nice aged almost tan colored tritium. I've been wrestling with purchasing a gen 1675 for years and now with the prices dropping back down to where they were 3-4 years ago I decided to pull the trigger. Instead I opted to go with a 16750 quickset, call me lazy with setting the date -I love the silver datewheel! (but sigh, no flat top 3 to be had ). So here are a few pix...
  5. I think the P111 W-1171 model is fine. Yes a Clarks Tropic 116 crystal, gen crown & tube is a start and I would replace the hands with gen Omega Flight Master ones from Ofrei.com (see photo below of my 1655). The Omega hands will likely need some broaching to make them fit, unless you do this kind of work yourself you'll want a good watchmaker to do it for you. Not sure if you care, but many of these models have lug holes that are not drilled thrcase all the way through the case, the holes on the outside are fake and just a divot. A more correct rep bracelet should be a non-fliplock 78360.
  6. I hear ya Bill. With the prices right now on gens coming down and if you were to drop a gen 1575 mvmt inside at easily $1500-$2000 -when you can find one, plus $800 for the case it doesn't make sense when you can find gens for $3500 or less.
  7. Yup, it's me Nanuq! TJ, I was going to pimp my auction to you but I don't think this is what you're looking for. My 1675 suffers from the same glued down crystal issue (not water resistant) as well and has the old wire spring that holds the bezel in place -not the correct compression ring bezel assembly. As for the Yukiwatch case, I think the CG's look funny, more sub shaped than the square and fat like they should be. It may be worth a try but I'm willing to bet the MBW dial won't fit the case the stem alignment of an ETA movement may be an issue as well??? I tried putting an ETA into a J&W Vietnamese 5517 case and it didn't work due to the stem alignment. I think the ND Trading 1675 case with the pointed CG's is better but costs a bit more. BTW, if you need a gen 1675 dial I have one in the parts box I'll let go cheap, it's pretty nice with some chocolate spotting on it. I've abandoned building a franken 1675. Regards, -TMG
  8. Happy Birthday, I hope you have a great one Ubi!!! All the best.
  9. Here's a mini Fiddy that was once in the stable.
  10. Yukiwatch is likely the same souce as Vietnamese cases.
  11. DBR is correct don't bother with the MBW, it's all wrong! Josh or Andrew's offerings would be a a better starting point if you don't want to spend on a Yuki case and gen movement. I'd suggest a Clark's Tropic 116 crystal ($5) as you'll need to sand down the bottom of the crystal a little to reduce the height or the date mag is too big. At a minimum, practice on a aftermarket crystal first if you plan on using a gen. Beware that the stock from these dealers change from time to time, so you might not be getting the same thing pictured. Lanikai can attest to this as he bought multiple watches to make one decent model and even though he purchased what should have been the same stock as I did, his were different in fit and finish. I would also tell you to check the link in my signature line for the details of my 1655 but the links are working and I've been too lazy to fix it but I'll try today. I hope that helps!
  12. Love that Top Hat crystal! Congrats.
  13. NICE Archimede, congrats!!!
  14. I'd say a little work on the inside of the crown guards and a set of gen or CWP aftermarket hands and you're set.

Thanks TJ and everyone for the nice feedback. I love the analogy B! D, it was Superior Dials, they only do gen redials and sell aftermarket jeweled styles.

Thanks for the kind words Ubi and all! Well I gave it to her yesterday and asked her about the hands along with a crystal swap (it has a few battle scars I couldn't quite buff out), but it doesn't look like it'll be coming off her wrist anytime soon. So I guess that's her answer.

I like it the way it is too, but..... you said it!
  18. Congrats on ticking this project off the list! What a beauty!
  19. Really nice M! DSN has done it again, now if we could get him to do a better dial for his 003A.
  20. I didn't have issues with the previous skin but this is a bit easier on my eyes.

Here's a small project I just had done as a gift for my wife; I had the dial on an old Tudor Oysterdate redone in a pink background -pretty cute eh! She mentioned how she liked a pink custom dialed Rolex Datejust she saw in a catalog. She'd kick my butt if I bought here a gen Rolex so I thought about a budget option and this is what I came up with. What do y'all think about replacing the hands? These are the originals, I was thinking a minty white fresh set might make more sense against the new dial.
  22. I personally avoid BD collar shirts, never liked the appearance of them. I cringe when I see them worn with dressy suits. Spread collars are always at the top of my list!
