  1. Ditto, NATO/G10 straps didn't come along until the 1970's.
  2. Great post T. The buckles you did for me arrived the other day and turned out fantastic.
  3. A great choice Laz -I must say! Not too shabby either Stephane! Yesterday: 201A The one in the middle today And tomorrow: The Speedy
  4. Sounds like fun, can't wait to see the submissions!
  5. Wan, it depends if you want hands for an ETA or gen mvmt. The CWP hands that TJ mentioned are replacements for gen 15xx Rolex mvmt. The MkII fit an ETA. Here's what an aged lume set of MkII MOD hands look like (these hands will actually be coming up for sale soon ).
  6. I haven't posted in the wristies in some time... Today: my DSN 009 -now a Pre-A, just back from Vac with a FGD dial and T crown installed (a big thank you Vac!).
  7. I bought this second hand for a deal but I think its from Minh Quy, said it was purchased in Vietnam -I guess it's all the same source.
  8. Thanks for the kind words guys! I updated the original post with details on the parts.
  9. Another project watch with a year on "the hunt" that will soon be assembled with a 1030 heartbeat. Some of the vitals are: -Vietnamese 6536 case -NDT gilt dial -CWP gilt hands with white big bubble second hand (not in photo) -Gen T16 crystal -Gen Brevet crown -Gen aged insert, not sure what model it's from but is slightly off in the dimensions compared to a 5513 insert -CWP round font insert (can't decide which to use yet, since the CWP doesn't fit the bezel very well) -Nice J&W aftermarket expansion riveted bracelet -but a corvus "real bond strap" will be the capper!
  10. Mmmmm Doxa.... A classic diver -I'm very envious R Wear it well!
  11. I'd say $400-$700 for an entire watch. They're harder to come by than VJ72's but my mvmt only was ~$350 on ebay about 2 years ago. One thing to watch for is the height of the caseback. Watchdog fit my VJ23 into my mystery mvmt DW no problem -just had to custom some mvmt holders, but the caseback can't be tightened down all the way since it pushed on the mvmt slightly and would cause issues with the chrono function.

    Vintage love

JJ, Congrats on the Red Sub, that is simply beautiful!
  13. Your project is coming along nicely Stephane, I think a Clarks T19 should fit too. A CWP insert with a Yukiwatch or Watchesandparts (ebay) aged pearl will be nice. I will say I scored a pretty good deal on ebay for a gen 5513 insert without a pearl a few months back -just too patience. The watchesandparts pearl fits nicely in it.
  14. Yep The Zigmeister tried an overlay with my 1655, wasn't in the cards! Nice improvements R, a better font ETA dw will be your best bet. I had to settle for the stock dw as well.
  15. Have a great weekend everyone!!! Friday Tomorrow
  16. Freddy, I like the pepsi tones better on the newer insert but the numbers are too fresh looking IMO. Just a thought but do you think it might be possible to polish down the insert on a buffing wheel to take some of the height off or is that too risky? I see you have the new dial mounted as well, very nice! It looks great and seems to fit perfectly, is this a MY redial or stock aftermarket? I thought the aftermarket dials were all too small for the Silix cases.
  17. Yes congrats Stephane, this is the best 1655 franken out there!
  18. Nice find SB!! -Finally a correct Bond strap. I noticed their FF homage, looks nice and has pretty serious specs.
  19. Perry563, If they are aftermarket springbars they often have shorter pins I've noticed, the same holds true if they're used gen bars -the springs loose tension over time so you'll suffer from the same issue.
  20. Ditto. Looking real nice Stilty. Please give us some more details on the case?
  21. You can find DW on iOffer under the seller name "dyrcsszw".
