  1. Interesting idea... not an all together ugly watch to me at all... but then I looked at the price list on the Invicta site... 3600usd for an Invicta?... pass. And I'm just going to guess that no Invicta will ever be "repped".
  2. Wow... Dreams do come true. I was looking/lusting after reading a bit of a blurb about it in the December issue of Watch Times... Man, I can honestly *hear* my bank account crying... at least it isn't the sound of overdraft fees though... yet.
  3. I really need to learn how to use my wifes photo setup... I've got the 198$ sub that trusty sold a few monthes back... upgraded now according to his site... I find the lume lasts super-bright about 5 min *disappointing*... however I do find that when I wake up at 0300 or so in the morning I can read the watch no trouble at all in the dark... so it does last for a good long while at a much dimmer level.
  4. No sir, Vodka is from Potatos. Whisky. Now thats a different story. Whisky is from God.
  5. a #4 here.... done a few minor repairs inside of simple movements, can tear down and rebuild hand wound movements thanks to TZ watchschool....Auto-ETA's are my next target... mebee someday I'll even try a chrono. But a bit of a stepback last week... I killed my P/O 4th gen re-inserting my stem, dang lume dot at 0100 fell off and needed to be reglued... "No Problem" I thinks to myself... upon stem reseating I heard a soft "sproing" and then the hack let loose and the movement was running with no stem installed... Installed the stem and no bite anywhere.... out of my league... So off to Vacum it went for a service/repair and a few gen part installs... I can't fix that one yet. =( I am learning though. TZ watchschool and a few of the books from amazon that have been on the ad-bars have moved me pretty rapidly from #2 to #4... I'm aiming higher though... Not The Zigmeister high, but I'd like to be able to service my own movements (beyond the handwounds that I can do now) and be self sufficient in my rep-care. Oh and yee olde irratable admin... see people do click the ad-bars... I bought three books from amazon that were on my ad-bar about two weeks ago... I hope the forum got credit/paid for it... I prolly did the old *right click, "open in new tab"* thingy.
  6. Let me preface this with a small disclaimer: Pugwash is almost single-handedly RESPONSIBLE for the hopeless IWC addict I'm becoming (ok, EL bears a bit of blame also).... I got an Ingy in the group buy and fell in love with it.... I then asked Pugs, via pm, a question about the movement in the GST Ti and he sent me DIRTY DIRTY watch pron... I then purchased the GST Ti from Joshua... My name is OiRogers and I'm an IWC addict. I heartly support Pugs nomination of the IWC Aquatimer and Aquatimer 2000 as the watch of choice. I would end up buying one each of steel and Ti of both models... then I would do it again if the Chrono version was also made... I need help.
  7. So, Whats this thread about again?
  8. @tonton... I had a US version for about 6 hours after release... I've since sold it for a minor profit.... I've socked most of that money away and will buy another PS3 here probably come Easter of next year.... there is not a SINGLE game worth the time right now... Resistance: Fall of Man is the closest the PS3 offered to a Killer-App... but with Gears of War on the X360, no major loss in waiting for the PS3... I can't imagine paying the 2k+ USD that many sellers around here are asking for a system that has one good game and a whole mess of "mehhh... my PS2, Xbox and Xbox360 can do that" type games. Save your money. But the PS3 when it actually has some games to back up the hardware. Wii and X360 FTW at this time... perhaps the PS3 will come into its own sometime next year....
  9. Possibly the most relevant to watches post ever. Troll. And just for the record... I'm with Overboosted on this... I'd rather keep my location somewhat guarded... CONUS is all I'm willing to share.
  10. Oh yeah... I'm very well aware that the overwelming majority of guitars bearing "BCRich" on the headstock are piles of plywood and chromed bits of plastic... I just happened to lay hands on probably the ONE BC Rich ever made that is worth playing. The headstock is blank and no markings are on the guitar at all... I bought it used at a Mars Music location before they closed... I picked it up 'cause i'd never played a Bich body guitar before... thought it was a home build from its appearance... red laquer, gibson shaped headstock, no markings or serial numbers.... Took it home and took it apart to clean up a bit and reset the neck and what do you know... Bernie's Sig right in under the neck.... I really need to get some shots of it up... Running through my Yorkville bass head/amp it sounds nice and crunchy... running through a 75w marshall amp its clear and sings beautifully.... I spend a bit of time at the Guitar Center near my house... I've yet to find any new guitar (or amp for that matter) that begins to sound like any of the vintage gear I've picked up... only new stuff I've ever bought are cables, strings and picks.
  11. My vote goes to a proto-type(?) B.C. Rich [censored] that I got for 159$usd (plus tax of course) locally... signed in the neck by Bernie Rico himself... Prolly helps that I live about 15 miles from where BCRich started... Gibson SG type neck... double humbucker pickups... super low action... wow. I love that guitar... (i reall yneed to get a shot or two of it posted... its butt-ugly, but sounds and plays like heaven) Only other guitars in my collection currently are 56' Dano U2 (Gen... not the Rep that came out in the late 90's) and a 71' Fender Fretless J-Bass that I would probably kill to protect (free... thanks to my ex-gf's brother for giving it to me....)
  12. Just my .02cents... with with inflation and all isn't worth much... the sub is the top of that extremly "slipperly slope" that all TV preachers speak of... if you buy the sub, your next purchase will be an omega... and then a pam... and then mebee a second rollie... and then more pams... and then you'll wake up one morning and realize you own about 30 watches and still have a "need list".... So basically, I'd recommend the sub... this is a much better addiction than pr0n or heroin... harder to kick though.
  13. To reply directly to those two words.... I also had this problem... I belive that many others also had this issue... EL asked for my shipping address in the second or third round of PM/emails... (can't rightly recall...a bit drunk atm)... But I must say the overall quality of the Ingy I recieved MORE than makes up for the lack of papers... I'm thrilled with this watch... if I don't get any papers from EL I won't be [censored]... the watch is spectacular... Yes, I paid for a box SET and would expect papers, but I'm not gonna [censored] considering the watch I got... fix the date-wheel font problem and I've got a 99.9999% accurate rep. Oh, and my vote for the next GB.... IWC GST Titanium braclet.... that watch makes my pants fit all funny.
  14. Hrmm... I think I'm sitting around 20 reps, 8 gens (ranging from 95usd fossil quartz to much much nicer autos)... one more rep on the way... one more to order the Wednesday after this (my wife limits me to 1 new rep per month after I had a bit of a spree... 10 reps delivered in under 2 weeks....) Of the close to 30 watches I have... 3 get actual wrist time... my Tag Link Chrono rep and the IWC Ingy rep are getting most of the time... but the Omega PO is getting some *consolation* wrist time now... There is a decent *mass market* jewelry store opening about a mile from my house here shortly... "Jareds"... I'm guessing I'll end up on a first name basis with them... the advertise pretty heavily that they carry most of the more known swiss brands... thinking that my gen collection will expand rapidly here shortly... have plans in about three weeks to purchase a nice black Gen sub (gawd bless Comp time payouts...)... that or a nice Tag and Omega Gen purchase.. haven't quite decided yet.
  15. Man... You guys have NO IDEA how close I came to dropping big bux to goreplicas.... had the final order screen up and all when I found TRC, RWG2 and RWI through an embedded link in a seperate window totally unrelated to watches... I closed that order screen out... finished my fapping to the other pr0n tab i had open and started my journey at RWG2, TRC and RWI... thank gawd I encountered all you scammers... I've piled up about 20 "fake" rep watches and been "scammed" repeatedly by several of our trusted dealers.... man... I've got to get back to goreplicas and send them the 850usd I was thinking about sending them 4 monthes ago... Wow.. I love you guys... you scam me almost weekly and I actually have nice watches to show for it.
  16. @jtb...At the risk of going off topic... MP5s produce something that is music to my ears...I think they are a bit more of the Analog end of the spectrum than Digital though...The nice soft "chuff" of the SD model with sub-sonic rounds is a very moving sound... @Physher... Sadly Physher... I'm a bit behind on the Navi's... not a big B fan... too cluttered of a dial imho. I will say that I have a 42.5mm PO 4th gen... its a beaut, as long as the clasp is nice and tight... I got mine recently from Joshua... nice AR coat, tight clasp, almost perfect... The SMP with the black bezel is a classic... TTK showed one today, very beautiful, my next gen me thinks... Pretty much all of the watches suggested are great pieces... the VC is a great dressy watch (but not too dressy)... the Ingy is a tank of a watch and very beautiful... the Omega divers are a nice classic rugged look that doesn't scream Fake like the rollie tends too.... I don't think your going to go wrong in any way your thinking.
  17. The same seller had a Orange P/O up a few weeks back with same story of "not keeping good time... replaced the movement with ETA"... It was obvious 4th gen though... nice overall, but the hands were visibly too short... exact match to my 4th gen 42.5mm one. I sent the seller a message asking how much extra to get the original movement included... and he stated they threw the old calibre away as unrepairable... WTF?, outside is flawless new watch but movement is damaged beyond repair?... sent a message back calling him on the fake and never got a reply.
  18. Good catch on that GMT shot... I was looking at that photo saying to myself..."Self, there is something wrong here.... can't put finger on it though..." And to second Phoband... What is a Swiss Watch Chip... And further... why didn't my reps come with one?... come on dealers... people are gonna know my rollie sub isn't real cause I don't have the swiss watch chip to go along with it.... whatever it may be.
  19. Yah... now tormented by respected board members as well... my bank account gives in to your superior posting abilities.... man my wife is gonna be sooooo [censored].
  20. And also why is it I discover all the people that have had trouble with the asian 7750 movement AFTER I got the Tag Link Chrono?.... Hopefully the seconds at 9 version of the movement won't have the trouble that infamous seconds at 6 daytona version has. And why, oh why do the dealers torment me with the IWC GST Ti Chrono when i'm so torn on the movement...
  21. As an owner of both the VC Overseas and the IWC Ingy.... either is a good choice... The Ingy feels more substantial to me... but the design of the VC is a bit less 70's... The VC has been my favorite for many years, but the recently arived Ingy has monopolized my wrist time... I guess thats what happens when you have two watches by the same designer... I think the VC is a bit dressier and the Ingy is a bit more a basic design... my .02cents. As for being good for your brothers line of work... lets just say I have several close friend who are police officers, not me mind you... and they have found that the VC and the Ingy are good choices for uniform wear... not too flashy... Other good, non-flashy choices would be pretty much any dive watch... Omega probably being the most "attainable" of the nicer brands for most officers... A suprising number of police officers and firefighters (frequently supervisors and older guys) in my area wear gen black subs... so I'd say avoid that particular model. As to carrying an MP5 in the car... not as odd as you may think. Many departments have found that the shotgun that everyone expects in the car is great at nice short ranges... but seriously lacks stopping power at ranges over about 50yards... small carbines like the MP5 or the M4 my friends department issues shine at those ranges... lessons learned after the North Hollywood Bank Robbery back in the day. Oh, and for the most part, your average police officer doesn't give two thirds of a rats rear about rep watches... many are actually very intrigued by em... I know of several officers that wear em daily.
  22. Got mine from EL on Saturday... been a bit busy so unable to post here.... the dial is perfect, no chips and alignment is perfect.... As mentioned by other members, the braclet is larger than 7.5 inches, it fits me like a glove...The crystal is set flat and even... a first for reps for me... I've had to reset all my other watches crystals... except my Tag link chrono... i'm afraid to crack the back on that one less the 7750 goes [censored] up. My watch was of the box-set variety... so the QC of the boxsets isn't all for naught.... mine watch is just shy of perfect... a bit of polishing compound left on the crown that needed to be cleaned off (wifes toothbrush and a bit of warm water and it cleaned up nicely) ... and the datewheel is off as far as font (knew of this one flaw prior to ordering, so no complaints on that)... but it centers perfectly. This watch hasn't been off my wrist since Saturday... My other watches are getting jealous. On a slightly sad note though... my boxset also didn't include the papers/cards... only watch and tools... PM to EL to see whats up with that... Not too much of a big deal in my mind though... this watch is just too damn sweet... may actually trump the VC Overseas as my favorite watch.
  23. MAN... yeesh... doorbell just rang a few minutes ago and postwoman was there with a nice EMS package for me... was all excited hoping to find my IWC inside from EL... no luck. Just a Tag Link Chrono (blue) from Josh... man... beautiful watch.. talk about unexpected suprise... under a week on this Tag... still awaiting my EL watch... never got a tracking number, but I have faith.
  24. That kit you have linked has most of the basics.... to hit a re-lume your going to need a hand-remover. Also would heavily recommend a covered parts dish to keep things organized and clean... Check out birdman and also ofrei.com for other sources of tools... I'm thinking about taking the watch school courses over at TZ myself... there are a few books available on amazon, but I haven't done anything further than look at them online... Perhaps The Zigmeister, RBJ or someone else could put up a list of basic tools necessary?... The TZ level one and two tool kit are prolly the way I'll go... a bit more 'spensive but what the heck.
  25. I've acquired a GMT-II with seperately adjustable gmt hand... the bezel is of the rotating variety so it is useful for seperate timezone timekeeping... Sadly though... my GMT-II features the Tri-lock crown of a Sub... thats is killing me... currently researching how hard to source the correct crown/tube... black nato strap atm, cause it came on a sub braclet as well.
