  1. Very sorry to hear that....my condolences...
  2. Today - it's the Daytona I recently bought from Maciek.... (arrived safely, thank you) I think the weekend will be Gen-Time.... I'll wear one of my favorites... my Navitimer 1461
  3. ...well...I disagree - there are only very few watches that have ejoyed such a long life as some of the Rolex models. The Submariner and the very similar Seadweller - especially - are timeless designs. They are rugged yet good looking watches which you can wear with anything from shorts to a tux. That is also why - after all this time - they basically still look the same. The real great designs are timeless and only need light updating every once in a while. It's a very good product - period. If people use a watch (rep or gen) or a car to pretend they are what they consider to be a more "important" person....then it's certainly not the product's fault... Rolex pricing :yucky: is a totally different issue...
  4. I agree...if it was only about telling the time....we'd all be wearing Timex.
  5. Very nice watch Maciek... the Navitimer is one of the all-time classic watches and this new rep generation of the NT finally looks very close to gen. Enjoy it....
  6. so here it is...the infamous dotona shitplika which I bought in Istanbul. Some of the older guys on the forum might remember... that was the time when the Rollie reps hat little metal plates with the rolex (crown) logo which were glued on top of the crown - and of course a good dotona rep had a full calendar . Can't believe I still have it. Haven't worn it ever since... :yucky: My first ever rep though was a golden daydate which I bought at the age of 18 in an Italian Pizza Parlor in Naples ... a long, long time ago....
  7. The first rep I bought after joining a rep forum: PAM187 (not my first ever though) From: Mr. Eddie Lee (greetz!) Still wear it: yep - one of my favourites @....r11co...maybe we could make this even better by posting pictures of our first ever rep - or the lousiest rep ever bought... which reminds me ...in some shoebox I still have a terrible Daytona fake which I bought in the bazaar in Istanbul some eighteen years ago... I could dig it out tonight....
  8. A Fiddy's on the wishlist.... I do own a 187 and size-wise that's ok for me...
  9. This is a wristshot of my 111h on my 7.8'' wrist. I think the only question is ...do YOU like it?. If you do, then what the heck.... size dosen't matter...no matter what they tell you... Big chronos or even PAMS on women.... I love that. It looks great and they (at least the ones I go for) don't have the powerlifter wrists. There is a German saying..."Erlaubt ist, was gefällt!" (Whatever you like is allowed) or the more up-to-date tranlation "Just do it" - get a PAM, try it...if you don't like it...you can allways ship it to me...
  10. Bytor....excellent review which I share 100%. I recently bought a ttk noobmariner for my better half and when it arrived, I was very impressed, so impressed in fact, that I ordered another one within the hour. When you compare and judge reps, it is usually imperative to keep the price in mind. Just like a Rabbit GTI will not compare to a Porsche, a 100$ rep usually does not stand up to a "Swiss blabla" for 400$. Not in this case tough.... The noobmariner looks and feels like an expensive watch and the differences to the real deal are so miniscule, that 99,9% of the population will not see them when the watch is on your wrist. Put them side by side and someone with good knowledge about reps will see it.... but just how realistic is that in a normal day? I had a friend over for dinner, who wears a gen 16610. I looked at both and from other side of the table, they looked both alike. He noticed nothing. The movement - even though we know it is "just" an asian J21, has been as accurate (if not better) as my ETA's and if you're not the hardcore freak who uncases his reps every day...what the hell. Pugwash has popped the back of his noobmariner and the movement is ....ugly...but again...who cares? The running gag on all three boards I'm on is the famous "....who has the best sub?".... noob question. My answer is clear... it's ttk's noobmariner. I have yet to see a better rep value for money... because at the end of the day... even the beautiful MBW's, which cost four to six times the money .... are only fake watches. ....the only problem is... if now everyone orders a ttk noobmariner...they will take even longer to arrive....
  11. ...the story is very cool...the condition of the watch is not my thing...I love the sub. It's one true classic. It's ok to wear it every day and for the watch to show signs of wear... but this is way too much. ...I love watches... if you love something...you don't treat it like [censored]... at least not in my book...
  12. ...thank god the website designer didn't do the dial printing....
  13. ... relax - I wasn't shootin' at you.... if it sounded that way, I'm sorry. Still I find this logic kinda hard to follow...
  14. I find it an interesting concept that there are copyrights which are ok to violate and others which are not..... every rep on this forum is a copyright violation... so while it is ok to skre@ Rolex et al, it is not ok to do the same to a watch magazine ? just my 2c
  15. I've been riding bikes for the past 28 years. Always big ones, always fast ones. On streets and on racetracks. When my kid was born, I sold the Bimota but more for lack of time than fear. These days I ride an MT-01. It is my firm believe that the decisive factor is always the rider. As a young kid, you can't afford a Ferrari but you can easily afford a 100hp+ bike which gives you a feeling of power and superiority... - the question is, can you handle it? On a bike, in traffic, you have a lot of disadvantages but also a number of advantages (much less distraction, acceleration, small footprint) - the question is, do you push your limit? The two accidents I had on a bike where nobody's fault but mine...For a moment, I got crazy and paid a price. If your brain is in control... the risk is not higher than mountain climbing, snowboarding or surfing ..... ...and as for my kid.... well there was this guy who sold his bikes...and the Porsche.... and then moved into his shiny new office in the Twin Tower.... I think the only realistic way is to be careful doing what you're doing... @ slay - my condolences... aside from this discussion...there is the hard reality of loosing a friend - and if he's gone, it really doesn't matter how...
  16. I came across these two when checking for an alternative to the expensive standard watch timers They are both software based timing-machines working with additional external gear (microphone etc.) which is hooked up to a computer. IMHO this is nice because you can store data on the watches in your collection and compare older to newer reports on the same watch. 1.) http://pczw.uhren-mikl.com/en/index.php?Timing_Machine 2.) http://www.waschke-bochum.de/index_en.html Prices are both in the 300€ range. I posted the English links, the German description is much better though.
  17. Well worth the effort... looks great. Wear it well.
  18. Hey Maciek, VERY, very nice watch.... now I know what happened with my money.... - good choice - enjoy!
  19. So Narikaa's back from vacation? Whow - what a beautiful watch - I'm usually more for the sporty stuff but this is true beauty. TTK... the only detail that disturbs me is the FEB MARCH APRIL section which looks just a little crowded... but - who cares! I envy you... enjoy!
  20. I guess I'm looking at my first "Omega".... very nice and close to gen - just whish this was as rugged as the real thing...
  21. "Sophisticated colors and delightful designs are just tip of the iceberg with our collection of Pugster brand watches. Treat yourself to a fresh look for everyday use or sophisticated style for the night out." MEGA-lol .....naaaa, he's got more taste than that....
  22. It is always important how you present your case. If you have a real problem with the delivered watch and you contact the dealer politely about it, I know from experience that he (or she) will try to find a solution. If it is unrealistic (like "why doesn't my rep look, perform and smell just like the real thing") nobody can help you and you will never be able to convince the aliens that there is intelligent life on this planet... I have dealt with Eddie, Trusty and TTK and have nothing but good things to say about them. In a business that is plain illegal, the dealers on this board give you something no weasel on Canal Street does - a serious business approach and a place to go back to - use it wisely.
