  1. Why would you want to own a Patek when you find their designs uninspiring? Why not get a watch you like for its aesthetic appeal and functions, rather than because of the label? An expensive ugly watch is still ugly... And Patek's cache lies in clever marketing along with genuine materials and labour costs, in-house movements, sounds like you want to buy into the story of Patek Phillippe but not any of the watches themselves... The Germans have a word, it's called 'Markenschwein' ;p
  2. Try King and Mary, they will definitely be able to help. Check out the 'dealers' forum and look for Kingshowbox, not sure of Mary's direct email, most people are happy with their service as 'niche' dealers who can get you very specific parts. Good luck champ.
  3. Your camera and photoshop skills are extraordinary Mr. B, plus it's a Breitling, which isn't all that hard on the eye to begin with, let's be honest
  4. All these 'fashionistas' and not one mention of G-Star? For shame fellas... BJJ and Muaythai, you need to dress sporty-scheik. Classy with a sporty edge. Diesel were hands-down the coolest jeans ever, and then like all good things they came to an end. G-Star has usurped the throne of men's casual style. I feel your pain brother, I used to be a hefty unit. Still hefty, but now 240 pounds of muscly goodness ;o) Do what I do, dark charcoal G-Stars, fitted shirt, tailored jacket, as a fellow Aussie, get to know Saba, Arthur Galan, Aquila, and look up where their Factory Outlets and sale items are. Sign up online and you can get really good savings. There is no excuse for not knowing, buy a GQ magazine, read askmen.com fashion articles and find your own style, believe me, it'll come very quickly once you absorb yourself in it. And it doesn't need to be expensive, anyone spending 500 bucks on jeans has screws loose... ;op sorry fellas, tough love, you deserve it :oD
  5. That strap looks fantastic, Blackbard you say? ;o)
  6. I have a Breitling Datora with a 7751, they are identical movements to the Speedie, and mine sounds like a 21.6k. I'm not sure that they've been replicated with a 28k move yet.
  7. BOB straps all the way mate, www dot waccex dot de or search "BOB strap" on eBay. If the Emergency takes a 22mm lug width I might have a blue Sharkskin deployant that will make it look a million dollars ;o) I have been disappointed with all my rep strap purchases, they smell plasticky and feel rubbery, in one case I'm not sure if it's even leather! Plus, instead of wrapping the leather around the side, they instead paint along the side, and some of the glues and paints cause skin irritation! If you can live without the fancy words underneath the strap, genuine leather substitutes are of a far better quality than the pleather offerings from the dealers IMO.
  8. Is the strap a rep or gen? Give me a yell if it's going for sale
  9. Didn't end up going, had too much on. I have a spare rep one if you're interested though.
  10. Ask your rep dealer for one, I'm sure they can source a glass for it, then just send it off to one of the guys on the forum to get it replaced, it should be a 5 minute job for them, and from past experience about US$30-40 for the work. It requires a special press to do it properly. Good luck mate, show us when it's fixed
  11. subbiesrock's next purchase... ;o)
  12. But this is... ;o) You couldn't dream this stuff up, hit the website, and her latest spread is with a watch magazine... ;o)
  13. $1,500 is still a bit much for homeless guy, but nevertheless, it's a bargain for the money Been breaking in a new deployant strap on the Datora... mmmmm....
  14. Looks like I'll be taking a trip to the AD this weekend. Cheers fellas!
  15. A Navi pictures thread? How am I going to contain the drool??? Navitimer two-tone tricompax - gorgeous Navi World - the Supreme Navitimer: On the wrist (iPhone pic, excuse the quality:) The Breitling Family: Front: and Back: What I wake up to every morning, full of decisions, decisions and more decisions... ) P.S. If he has some, I'm putting BOB's kids through college Breitling Navitimer Two-Tone - exquisite dial and two-tone, so decided to go with a very plain calf strap on deployant: With the original two-tone bracelet: The Montbrillant Datora with a fairly simple black dial with complex slide rule, looks really nice with the brown croc (BOB) and deployant clasp (fitted an hour ago, so no pics yet) Here it is with the Navi bracelet: The Navi World is pictured with a rep strap, but I went for a honey tan tang buckle number, just to try it out, but this watch really goes better with a deployant IMO. Funny what a strap will do to a watch, I got a Breitling style deployant clasp and a 20mm deployant strap in navy sharkskin and put that on my Citizen Calibre 8700 with dark blue face, think it looks really good! A beautifully designed dial and incredible functionality. It's almost illogical to bother ourselves with these silly watches that require so much care and expensive maintenance (and watch winders!) when we could ALL be wearing accurate, reliable, gorgeous timepieces that don't need maintenance every 40 hours! Calibre 8700 navy dial with navy sharkskin: ...and yet I have 5 automatic watches and 1 solar-powered one... I don't believe in batteries Cheers guys
  16. If a woman knows what a Patek Phillippe is, she's going to be high maintenance champ... ;o)
  17. Wore the white Navi World on a tan BOB strap last night at a middle-class restaurant, mate... polo top and a 46mm Breitling on the wrist kills it ;o) Breitlings are just masculine as hell, IMHO. P.S. AWESOME topic ;o)
  18. I doubt very very much that they ould leave a 100,000 Euro car just to rot on the side of the road... A lot of what they say on the show is just for effect. But I'm amazed that James May driove all the way to the top of the volcano, that was totally insane!
  19. Just looking at his past history of sales and his name has the word 'shonky' written all over it. I'm sorry to say this, but common sense should prevail before handing over your hard-earned. If I was spending that much money on a watch on eBay, I'd want to make damned sure that he has made AT LEAST a few previous sales with extremely positive feedback. This guy is stupid, but those who bid are doubly so. And when you click on the Rolex Daytona he's got in the scrolling thing and it says "Post Removed"... come on... run run run as far as possible!
  20. Just watch ed the episode off the torrents, holy crap it's funny! Watch the segment at the end about the Reliant Robin, gut-wrenchingly funny! And James May drives all the way to the lip of a volcano!
  21. Hi guys, I have this in the relevant section but thought it would get a little more exposure here. Prefer a gently worn condition, but am open to all conditions, as I'll be wearing it almost daily myself. Shoot me a PM with a price incl. postage to Australia if you have one of these spare and are willing to let it go. I promise to take good care of it and post many gorgeous pics of it on my Navi with BOB strap. Cheers guys, subbiesrock
  22. The old adage "if it seems too good to be true..." cut your losses and walk away, he lives on the other side of the World (I assume) and there is nothing you can do or say that would compel him to sell them. He would just close his eBay account and start a new one with so few feedbacks, smells really fishy, but if I were you I'd play the statistics. May not be a scam, but it might, and you have no real cards to play at this point. Good luck, let us know what transpires, this particular philosophical predicament has crossed my mind before... and GOOD LUCK!
