It's not a V5. By the shape of the case near the CGs, the dial, and the insert font & cloudy pearl, it's a V3 with the V4/V5 crystal.

Nice to see the QC was just a fluke. I've run through 3 of these for gifts (minus my modded one) and I haven't actually worn my Daytona or any watch since.

I've used both quite often. I'd say they're equal.

I bought this off Andrew years back. It was just the regular $200 model; nothing special. I'm almost 100% positive this was what later became known as the "noobmariner". You can see how ell the SELs fit, the case construction, best quality dial print, band & clasp construction, etc. All it really needed was a decent insert & pearl:

This is just a cheap--really cheap--copy. Incorrect clasp, misshaped crown guards, poorly made crown, wrong bracelet markings, poor dial print, bad date-window, font, magnification, wrong font on bezel insert, etc. Definitely nothing "VIP" about that piece

What jury is that?... The V5 is easily better than the V3, just for the corrected date-window. Have a look: And for comparison, here's a gen 79174 from the Bay: The smooth bezel, SS, ladies Datejust on an oyster--especially with the basic Roman dial--is my favorite womans watch that Rolex makes. Well made, classic, minimalistic, not pretentious, and universal to almost anything she wants to accessorize with. She liked this piece in my AD a few months back, but rolled her eyes as to why anyone would pay that much for a watch, but she loves to sit & watch me tinker with these things, so I'm sure she'll get a kick out of it.
