  1. Wow!! Fantastic sigma dial and all around build. Wear it proudly.
  2. I have never dealt with Ken and I have never knowingly purchased rep soft goods. But he is 100% correct. This is his business. As he said, imagine the uproar if someone said that BK's watches were a waste and way overpriced! You work hard to establish a good REPutation and if that commands a premium, so be it. Best of luck to everyone in finding what they look for. I will personally consider KB when I do decide to make a purchase. Why? Because of the reviews. That's what the forum is about, sharing our personal experiences.
  3. Normally, I would agree for a dial that can be had for a reasonable amount. I am talking about a dial worth, I'm guessing, over $30,000 if such a loose dial would even come up for sale. Most of us agree that a dial makes the watch. If you go through the process of getting an expensive case, a V72, a gen insert... It becomes essential to have a great, not good dial! That's where i am at in my reflection. A $1,000 "refinished" dial is how I am trying to convince myself. I know where I will end up on this...
  4. Sheartime has now relisted that dial in auction format. We will see. Back to the Minh dial,he will have pictures for me next week. Currently only has the 3 CROC Newman dial.
  5. +1. Can't really beat that statement!
  6. Depends. There's a genuine white Sigma on sale on eBay for $3000 that was modified (poorly, IMHO) with the red Daytona writing. I think Sheartime has tried to auction this one a few times. I personally think that is way too expensive. The crooked Daytona would kill me every time I look down at it!
  7. There's no way I'm gonna risk painting the markers! I have no skills and tolerance for risk!
  8. It's amazing that for a $1,000 dial, the markers are still the wrong color!!!
  9. That is the best analogy to this hobby I've heard! There's nothing like gen there!!
  10. Bumping this thread as I am weighing the same options as CC. Only difference is that I am looking into a 2-line white PN dial for a 6239/6241 buildl. I see a clear difference between a Phong and a MQ. Still waiting for pics from both as I initially received the controversial 3 CROC dial pics. Almost twice the price...I know, it's a rep dial anyway you look at it. However, the gen can't even be had!!!
  11. 9 posts since 2009 including 3 lovely ones today. Quality over quantity. Great looking watches all around.
  12. Great write-up. If you keep reading LHOOQ and JMB's post, you will keep wanting more of these. Wear it in good health.
  13. Wow, that is going to be beautiful!
  14. Off, topic, but that unfortunately, is what "true" post-Internet, twitter-junkie journalism has become. Back on topic, I find it amazing that a modern Sub looks so close to a Sub made over 50 years ago! I know many will disagree. Think about that, how many brands stay that true to their origin. It's like seeing a Porsche 911 today. You can't deny it's heritage. That's why so many people fall in love with "retro" re-releases. When the VW beetle was released in its modern form, people went nuts. Same with the latest batch of Tudors. Rolex has stuck pretty much to a certain design.
  15. They have a section on RG. Vac is here : http://www.repgeek.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55 PB is here : http://www.repgeek.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55 Both are very good. You should know that BK uses PB for all his lume jobs. Good luck.
  16. Nice box. Great collection and good variety. I'm stuck with a bunch of PAMs and Rollie's.
  17. Congrats! I've been looking at these myself given their "relative" affordability.as someone said, it's all very addictive.
  18. Akira, it looks100% better. Well done.
  19. I like the idea of buying an inexpensive Airking and converting it into an Explorer.
  20. Very interesting indeed. That's exactly what makes me very gun-shy about buying anything "gen". I've been tempted recently with a couple of watches and even posted on the price of gens being low on certain models. However, I'm afraid to end up with a Franken and never know!!! At least when I buy a Franken here, I know what it is and what it's worth. As I said before, I've seen 2 red subs near the $8k point lately. That's a lot of money but still... Hard to tell if its all gen.
