  1. The date window in the new dial is probably offset a bit from its location on the original dial. Unfortunately, unless you have 1 of the older Rolex watches that had a press-fit (as opposed to footed) dial, your only options are to replace the original dial, buy another dial with the same date window location as your original dial or re-cut the date window in your new dial (which will likely damage the paint, requiring a complete repaint) so the date is properly centered within it.
  2. Before hitting your 1st (rep) buy button, I would encourage you to read Toad's Newb Guide. Because the 'factories' that cobble reps together (manufacturing, the term generally accredited to the assembly/testing of genuine luxury watches, is not a term I would ascribe to the assembly of reps) institute little or no QC along the way, having realistic expectations now can save you alot of grief & hand-ringing later.
  3. Ending the work week wearing my '41
  4. He posted that pic 4-5 years ago. Which reminds me - I have to go back to do an updated pic (if for no other reason than to see if their clock has been fixed).
  5. It was recommended for visual accuracy, not function.
  6. I used to correct members who used that term, but its popularity snowballed & it became an accepted 'fact'.
  7. Yes. Cement the crown in place. As the gaskets & threads age/wear, the crown's position (when screwed down) changes, which is normal. You need to find something else to fixate on other than the crown position.
  8. I believe all 7750-powered Daytona reps come as auto-winders. The owner must remove the auto-wind module to convert to manual himself (or have his watchmaker do it).
  9. Ammonia (as used in many glass cleaners) will remove most AR.
  10. The timecart watch looks like a standard 626x rep (with all the usual dial sins - wrong fonts, wrong crown, small subdials, etc), nothing special that I can see. & you are literally throwing the dice if you are expecting to receive a Swiss 7750. Have you checked the dealers listed on RWG to see if they have (or can source) the same watch? If not, I would start there since our dealers are known quantities. Another option is to buy a standard 6263 (which most dealers have) & buy a steel bezel (ebay, etc) & swap it with the plastic bezel. Instant 6265.
  11. I am not familiar with the dealer & it is unlikely the movement is Swiss. In any case, pics or a direct link to the watch in question would help. & the (genuine) 6265 came with a black dial as well
  12. Many optometrists will accept a watch crystal for AR. Of course, these are sent out to a lab for the coating (unless you know someone, the labs do not generally deal at the retail level). A local optometrist AR'd the area of the crystal below the cyclops on my TT GMTC
  13. After upgrading to paying membership, you can sell your watch in the Sales forums.
  14. Yes, DW is not known for having good bracelets. I would replace it with a gen (as I always do), nice strap or 1 of Yuki's bracelets. & be prepared to do a bit of modding to get another bracelet to fit (a common problem).
  15. These are steel hands (made for a Rolex 1030) that I had plated with gold (prior to baking)
  16. I think you will find that baking (with a pinch of iodine) results in an appearance similar to the hands in your link
  17. It looks like a v726, which is an uprated V72, so it should be fine
  18. I am not sure about the rusty hands (never seen that much rust on gen hands before), but I love the case & dial. Beautiful. This watch needs a good bracelet, preferably gen or Yuki-quality. Nice work.
  19. Andrew is a very good guy. But please read the newbie faq pinned atop the Introduction forum before hitting the buy button so you know what to expect.
