  1. Kent is very slow & you would do well to remind him of the details of your original request once you do hear from him.
  2. You have to unbend the center rings, remove/add links & rebend the center rings. Rolex had a tool to do this, but I have not seen any watchmakers that had 1 for decades.
  3. What is stopping you from further upgrading the case, tube & crown? Better cases can be had from Yuki, NDT & Phong, all the watch parts houses sell Swiss-made tubes & Triplocks can be found on ebay (about $50 to $250, depending on condition & seller). What you have looks very good.
  4. Have you checked out MQ's best dials? They are generally the best aftermarkets I have seen. What happened to the dial you modded?
  5. Never been a fan of LVs, but great build as usual.
  6. Very nice.
  7. You will need a watchmaker to apply it to a freshly overhauled movement, but search out the 'powdered graphite' treatment.
  8. What you are seeing is essentially the end of the seconds hand tube folded back on itself to form a rivet, securing the hand wand to the tube. This is common on most watches.
  9. You may need to repaint &/or resize some of the hands &, as with all aftermarket chrono hands, you should epoxy their joints prior to installation (Click pic for link)
  10. Unless you have an unlimited budget, you might want to wait until you receive his price before popping the champagne. Likewise, although MQ seems to be a bit more reliable than Phong when it comes to delivering an item as advertised, as always, be prepared for variations.
  11. Check with MQ or just find a standard rep dial that you like.
  12. You can tame alot of the texture problems with the application of matte varnish, but there is nothing you can do to correct for their size (too small) inaccuracy. In the case of something like a 6238, I would hold out (or save) for a better dial. It would be a pity to limit the quality of such an iconic piece with that dial.
  13. Are you going to post pics of any of your original examples?
  14. If I was able to produce an original design that was both compelling & aesthetically superior to all others, I would certainly get to work toot sweet. In lieu of that, I have restored some gens along the way. There was a thread detailing the restoration of 1 of my DJs, but it apparently got lost during 1 of our system upgrades. However, I do have a few pics In general, just about anyone with the skills/tools to construct a franken, can restore a basic, genuine watch.
  15. Bottom is gen.
  16. Read my post above yours.
  17. For the record, RWG rules prohibit 'Pornographic, adult or warez content' (if you have not yet done so, please read The Rules) &, without getting into another constitutional straw man debate, I think we can all agree that showing genitals (full frontals) & acts of sex (playing a Clinton & debating the meaning of the word 'act' is not going to excuse you) fall into these categories. If you come across an avatar or pic on RWG in any forum other than the 'Bits, bytes & babes' forum, please report it to admin.
  18. It is more a matter of value than price, though, for non-billionaires like myself, price is certainly an issue. I just cannot rationalize spending uber amounts of money on a collectible whose value is market-based. While Rolex has historically been a very safe investment, there is no guarantee that the $100k you spend on a nice Newman Daytona today will be worth that much tomorrow. Why not just buy reps? Again, because I appreciate quality & would prefer not to be seen as a poseur, if I can avoid it (even if I am acting like 1).
  19. Have you checked with TT to see if/when they expect to have more? Also, have you checked other RWG sellers' listings or contacted them to see if they can source the same watch?
