  1. Wearing my beater today
  2. Odd. Minutes before Obama took the stage last night, the Dow futures were down 30 points & dropping. The EU news only exasperated an already forgone conclusion. In fact, the goings on in Greece may themselves have been fueled, in part, by the election results last night. But keep a happy thought.
  3. Clever video, but human nature has not changed in thousands of years. No matter how much legislation is passed, you CANNOT change human nature; you can only deal with it. That is the REAL truth.
  4. Ditto Nanuq's comments. I bought a gen 'dome for my beater, but decided to go with Clark's since it looks nearly identical & provides a peace of mind that a 25+ year old piece of Plexiglas cannot.
  5. Regardless of your political persuasion, sadly, that is what happens when you leave your back door open (either to gain votes or to get cheap labor) & rely on the government to guard the doorway. I believe it was this understanding that the government is not a reliable protector of life or liberty that led the authors of the US Constitution to incorporate the citizens' right to keep & bear arms. I also believe, with this election, that the proverbial horse has now left the barn as far as the country goes. If everyone read - with an open mind - Barack Hussein Obama's 2 books, I think many opinions about our president would change.
  6. Had Gingrich been elected president, the Dow would have skyrocketed the next day & the economy would have followed suit. By the way, I am a life-long (JFK) democrat.
  7. People in congress (House & Senate) are paid to vote on behalf of their constituents'. That is all. If you believe this election will change anything (for the better) in Washington, I have a bridge to sell you. Most likely, tomorrow the Dow will decline. Next year, the market will crash, stagflation will set in & the middle east will take center stage. Hopefully, assuming he does not lose his job, the president will have more to offer in the next 4 years than blame for the guy who preceded him.
  8. Lange 1. You win!
  9. You can save yourself alot of work by buying 1 of the cheap-o Comex Sub reps with working He valves in them already that many dealers still sell. Then, follow the instructions here to drill the requisite hole in your case to fit the valve.
  10. Note item 5 under Posting & read Toad's Guide. Then, search out Ziggy's secs @ 6 7750 reviews & my 'Perfect Daytona' thread.
  11. There you have it.
  12. There is just something right about MBW-based Subs/SDs . But I think your watch deserves better pics .
  13. Ditto above (nice work ), but, at this level, I would also install a working He valve, gen handset & widen the 6 & 9 index marks to match the gen.
  14. Plexiglas (plastic) tends to lose some of its elasticity with age, which can leave it brittle &/or with a tendency to develop hairline cracks that may appear with pressure/temperature changes.
  15. Wearing 1 of my Newmans today
  16. It is being worked on & options are being considered. We appreciate your patience.
  17. Are you sure the T17 you tried was gen (& the case was a 5510)? Removing a crystal from a sealed package is no longer a 100% guarantee of authenticity. On the other hand, if you are sure it was gen, then you should let Phong know since 1 of his claims to fame (& reason for charging the prices he does) is that his cases are made to gen specs & will accept all the correct gen parts.
  18. A T38? I think you want a T116 for your 1675, which are relatively easy to acquire on ebay.
  19. Something changed at VRF about 2 years ago. Previously, the merest mention of elective parts swapping, regardless the reason, would likely result in your post being edited, heavily, & your account possibly terminated (speaking from experience). Now, threads detailing searches for & installation of faded bezels, brown dials, iffy lume & the like are commonplace & some of the most popular. While I think it is good to tone down the iron grip a bit, I am not sure that their currently open & free attitude towards modifications is a good thing, as it adds to the confusion & liabilities involving gen collecting.
  20. T17 7206 or 6636, either with 80 end links.
