  1. I am only seeing 1 pic (from the side). Post a macro pic of the crown from the front/dial side, so I can see its width. That is where I think there may be a problem - in your other pics, it looks too wide.
  2. I would not put lume in any vintage watch, but, if that is what flies your kite, just get some Bergeon white lume & mix it into your paint.
  3. I think Rolesor is Rolex's term for a SS and gold case/bracelet (Rolesium means SS and platinum).
  4. Ronin - Your crown looks too big (wide). You definitely need a gen for that watch. josechano - The inner flange looks fine to me. I would do a bit of reshaping of the CGs though (look too new for a vintage Sub).
  5. Why did you want to replace the current bracelet in the 1st place? It looks fine.
  6. Ending the work week still wearing this
  7. Had a couple Lucas-powered motors myself over the years (still have the green 1) But Nanuq's 'Rover (with all those extras) is quite a catch.
  8. The question of Andrew's & Josh's affiliation has raged for some time, but suffice it to say that they tend to carry similar lines (& can source most others).
  9. Because so many of the watches have survived & so few original inserts have accompanied them, even to the hard-core TZ (& VRF) elitists, a 6542 with an aftermarket (or later gen version) insert is often acceptable. Therefore, exceptions are often made for this model. The fact is that some of our frankens (those powered by gen motors behind gen dials (even if repainted) in gen cases) are so nearly gen that you can no longer simply dismiss them out-of-hand as non-gens. The line has blurred. And I say that having been a TZ member for more than 10 years (I preceded their Rolex Mods ).
  10. Parts are readily available for (genuine) ETA movements & any watchmaker (willing to work on a rep watch) can repair them, which is not the case for most Asian movements.
  11. Not really rare either. You can find these all over ebay. But remember - always buy the seller before you buy the watch.
  12. You must be reading the wrong reviews. All joking aside, a comprehensive, well written review should always contain either the dealer's name or a link. Of course, not all reviews are well written.
  13. Powered by Lucas, the prince of darkness. I feel for you, Nanuq
  14. True (& with all due respect to the Pythons), but I still would not call it a model.
  15. Love the strap, but not too sure about the color.
  16. Wankers is right.
  17. Model? Except for the insert & paint (on the gen gmt dial), this grail is the real deal (My ETA-powered Phase 1 '42 at right) (Hour hand installed for display purposes only)
  18. Well done, Nanuq. But, as you may recall, I thought it was beautiful 'before'.
  19. Wearing another Sub today
  20. I would reconsider your premise as it is a good way to have your stuff pinched (stolen). Especially, in the case of Rolex-branded watches, it is always best to stay under the radar.
  21. Without a doubt - a lathe.
  22. There are many qualified watchmakers in & around the NYC area that can handle the task of overhauling/servicing a rep watch. If the rep is powered by a Swiss-made ETA movement, then pretty much any watchmaker can get parts (if needed). However, if the movement is a low-end Asian-made movement, parts will be problematic. Check with the rep seller to see what brand & model of movement is in your watch & then let your fingers do the walking through your local telephone book (watch & clock repair or similar). Phone the watchmaker & ask if they work on ETA-powered replica watches. Some watchmakers will & some will not. Calling 1st will save you alot of wasted time. An overhaul on a standard 3-hand rep watch should run $100-$200 (NYC/Westchester areas are likely to be at the high end of the scale). If you have a chronograph, expect to pay considerably more (plus parts, if required).
  23. I think I answered this last year
