  1. If I had not just dumped all of my spare cash into the z, I would order 1 of these just to take it apart, clean, lube & see how she runs on a timer after a proper overhaul. Now, where are those cloned 103xs, 157xs & V72s?
  2. Interesting. I wonder if that is a balance bridge partially hidden beneath the rotor? If it is, now, that would be something.
  3. I would pretty much mirror Ubi's recommendations. However, there are times/watches that really look better (more authentic/less suspicious) when they appear aged/worn. In those cases, 1 of Nanuq's more saner ideas works well - place the case (without the movement or crystal) into a coffee can full of coins, screws & nuts & shake until the desired effect has been achieved. Or, you can just put the watch on & perform a clutch job on your car. That did the trick for 1 of mine (though I needed a new crystal by the time I drove the car away ).
  4. Ending the work week washing cars with wearing my beater
  5. Note distance between bottom of crown & dots
  6. All the DWs & Valjoux-powered frankens I have come across have screwed-in tubes. However, I have seen a few cases where the hole for the tube (&/or pushers) was cut a bit too large. You can search out numerous posts (1 or 2 by me) that describe the options.
  7. Again, this is an issue of pathology within culture, not race. This culture of pathology affects whites, blacks, browns, etc. Not quite sure how this keeps being confused with pride, which is not the issue (I am referring to) at all. Until the 1970s, the vast majority of people who came to the great melting pot that is the USA came to become Americans. Ask any US senior citizen who emigrated to the US from Europe or Asia at the turn of the last century what nationality they are. Of course, the question is rhetorical, because nearly all would say 'American' & their country is the United States of America. And these people would have said the same thing the day they received their citizenship. Sadly, that is no longer the norm, especially for people immigrating to the US (often illegally) through its southern border or the UK/EU from Muslim countries.
  8. Your comments illustrate part of the problem - willful naivete &/or a simple refusal to face facts. I was not criticizing the guy's pride, only his misplaced allegiance. If, after spending more than half his live in California (USA), he still identifies himself as Mexican, the USA has a problem. It does & that is my point. Asians & Europeans came/come to America to BE Americans, not Asians or Europeans. And that has been the case for the past 100+ years. But something shifted in the 70s, so that immigrants, especially Mexicans entering the US (especially those who enter the country illegally) & asylum seekers entering the UK/EU (especially those from Muslim cultures), no longer aspire to assimilate into the indigenous society of their host countries. And that is a BIG problem.
  9. I figured that was the case. Pretty difficult for the driver to take his own pic (including both hands) while driving. Still, great pics. So, who is the driver & what were you doing in the back?
  10. And then blame everyone (bankers, government, etc) but themselves when the inevitable bill came due. Again, this is a cultural pathology, nothing more.
  11. Looking good. Still & again
  12. Thanks. She just got her makeup refreshed
  13. My Newman Z (too bad I was not wearing my white Newman for the pic ).
  14. Culture, my friends. It all comes down to the morals (or lack thereof) that get passed down from parent to child within a given culture. Cultures that teach The Golden Rule & uphold the rule of law tend to be more successful & less violent than those that lionize rapsterism (the beat that moves gangsterism) & its concomitant criminality. Compare, for example, Israel, which has the largest number of guns per capita of any nation, but 1 of the lowest rates of (peace-time) gun-related crime; to the US, which has far fewer guns per capita, but far more gun-related violence. And, to take it a step further, democracies tend not attack each other, while autocracies & theocracies often do. I had an enlightening conversation today with a gentleman who emigrated to California from Mexico in 1970. He twice referenced 'his country' [Mexico], which immediately struck me as odd for someone who has been living in the US for over 30 years! When I asked him about this, he said he is 'still Mexican'. This stands in stark contrast to the millions of Asian & European immigrants who come to the US primarily to 'be Americans'. And much the same is occurring with many so-called asylum seekers entering the UK & other parts of the EU. Something has definitely changed & it does not bode well for long-term homogeneity.
  15. And you are basing your conclusions on what...........EU government sources perhaps? In recent years, indigenous Londoners have been exiting the city in droves due to the decreasing quality of life that accompanied increasing numbers of asylum seekers & those habitually on the dole. The next step, the death knell for any city, is when sections of these takers begin to outnumber their well-intentioned (& willfully ignorant) givers & the takers begin to gain political control. Londoners need only look to Detroit to see what that leads to.
  16. On other sites, simply use Firefox with the AdBlock Plus extension (allows you to block images/graphics from being downloaded, which also makes pages load faster) & clear your browser's cookies/cache (or configure your browser to do it automatically). You can also set your browser to block cookies, but some sites require them, so it is probably not a good idea to do that on a regular basis.
  17. Officially, this But, for the past couple of weeks, this seems to have gotten the most wrist time
  18. Yes. A few notes - The top of the triangle at 12 is slightly rounded. The outside circumference of the rose is not perfectly round. There are small indents in-between the 'petals' & the lines that separate them. You should be able to draw an imaginary line through the horizontal lines in the (660) 'ft'. You might consider leaving the lume sections blank so they can be 'painted', which will look more accurate.
  19. Looks good, but you might consider using this underline 7928 dial
  20. Ending the work week wearing my Phase II '42
  21. Do you mean my little old Aryan 'Master
  22. Nice, Nanuq. My Phase II '42 has been sporting a jubilee for some time now.
