  1. If you right-click any avatar on a forum page & select View Image Info (or similar, depending on your browser), you will see that, regardless of the pic's original size, the forum software scales the pic down to 90x90px.
  2. The avatars used to be rectangular, but now they are square. I do not remember the old dimensions, but the new avatars get resized to 90x90px. So, for optimal quality, you need to make your avatar 90x90px, otherwise the system will resize/reshape whatever you have to that size, which can cause distortions of the image.
  3. This is a small issue, but I just uploaded a replacement avatar (old avatar was missing), but the animation is not working. It looks like others' avatars are missing as well (your avatar may appear as a small vertical line). So, unless I am missing something, I think members may need need to upload avatar pics again to your profile to make them viewable in the forums. Again, animations within gif avatars does not seem to be functioning.
  4. Chief, I think your avatar is a bit too wide & mine is missing altogether (oddly, the pic in my tagline is there). Otherwise, aside from the color scheme (not too sure about green), I like the new look.
  5. The correct end link for a 6238 fitted with a 7205 bracelet is the 71, but you are unlikely to find a gen bracelet for sale. At least, not for less than a king's ransom. I have folded link 7835s with 357 links on all of my 62xx Daytonas & they fit well (though not perfectly). Using the Search, you will find more pics of bracelets on DWs than you can shake a stick at.
  6. Rifles & clocks?
  7. The '42 does not have CGs. CGs were added beginning with the 2nd generation GMT (1675).
  8. Mine looks like Nanuq's. The inner flange (rehaut) on most vintage Rolex cases is very shallow.
  9. Remember that a complete 360 degree cycle for the GMT hand = 24 hours, while a 360 degree cycle for the hour hand = 12 hours. So, in a 24-hour period, the hour hand makes 2 complete cycles of the dial, while the GMT hand makes only 1. This video demonstrates the action of GMT & hour hands (the hour hand is the shorter hand)
  10. The yellowish print is called gilt, which is essentially gold leaf. The early Sub dials were made for Rolex by 2-3 dial companies, which is why some of the details vary. No idea of the size, but a number of parts sellers have them. Here is 1.
  11. A beauty, Ubi, but I have a feeling the build cost was close to the current value of a gen.
  12. I am not sure about this 1? The items & post look kosher, but he is logging in from France & shipping from Norway.
  13. Wore 1 of my DJs today
  14. A.260 in my 6202, which was the precursor to the Sub (A.260 was also used in the early 6204/6205 Subs, while the 6200 used the similar but larger diameter A.296) No.
  15. Looks similar to this
  16. Been 2-wheeling today
  17. If you want to tame the budget, swap the bracelet for a nice strap. Subs always benefit from a proper bracelet, but, on par, at least a strap would not shout 'fake', which detracts from an otherwise credible build.
  18. 1 of the best I have seen, but, as is, this falls just short of perfect. At this level, I would toss that crummy, fake-looking bracelet (get a Yuki or gen) & install the proper second hand. That would put it over the top. Still
  19. (tapping fingers restlessly)
  20. That is the best looking watch Omega ever produced & a great pic of it. For years, I have been on the fence over this watch & if I was not dealing with a self-imposed limit on additional watches, I might be posting a similar wristie today. After overhauling her (long-dead) quartz clock, I took the old rust-bucket (a previously accurate term, which is now little more than an endearment) out for her 1st official drive & she (& her ticker, which is (now) probably 1 of the few that run/keep time in vintage Zs ) performed flawlessly
  21. That is why I replaced my battery. You know, even Radio Shack sells batteries for these things now & it only takes a few minutes to swap them out. I also installed a firewire jack in my PC solely to be able to charge the iPod (I have a Kenwood system in 1 of my cars that has a charging iPod connector, which is very handy when the power is out)
  22. Nice, but you need a recharge.
