  1. The Omega magazine is a special issue from WatchTime magazine (the current regular issue should have arrived on the reverse side of the same package).
  2. I have never used that particular crystal, but I can tell you that Clarks are some of the only aftermarket parts that come acceptably close to the gens.
  3. The seller knows perfectly well it is fake, otherwise he would not have resorted to the faker's trick of using dark, (purposely) out-of-focus pictures. A classic (albeit not-too-clever) scammer.
  4. The gen rivets are fine, but attaching 1 of those aftermarket rivets (no matter how you mod it) to even a gen will make your watch look fake.
  5. Wednesday's child is also fickle. During a rotor noise shoot-out, I ended up switching back to this
  6. You need a formal watch - Patek 5107 in Pt (nearly bought 1 last year & if I were to part out my collection, I would just hand the cash over to my Patek AD) In the meantime, I will make due with this A sports watch - 5513 Sub In the meantime, I will make due with this And an iconic wow watch - Daytona 116520 But I think this does just as well
  7. Some people remove the pearl because they feel that a modern pearl detracts from the vintage appearance. Different strokes.
  8. (or maybe that is not so funny ) Yeah, that will probably quiet down those rotors & those F-18s definitely trump anything on my resume (I only wish), but I did do some time standing in front of a Marshall stack, which took its toll. I can still smell a heated cathode in an EL34, so I guess there is still hope.
  9. I am getting tired of looking at Ziggy's work. It is so boringly consistent, with no variation or character. The lume on every watch looks the same - like every vintage gen. Where is the fun in that? Seriously, it looks better than the gens. But I cannot believe you hobbled it with that crummy rivet job. Please, please, please remove & toss it as far as you can throw it. Invest in a gen folded link 9315 or solid link 93150. Or, at the very least, an aftermarket 93150, or put it on a NATO or strap.
  10. Great pic & my favorite Omeeeeega. I cannot tell you how many times I have almost laid my cc down on the counter to buy a gen. Real beautiful watches, much nicer than their 'Moon' watch. Today
  11. I have to (mostly) disagree with you Ziggy. The only time I hear rotor noise from a Rolex movement is when it is in need of service. Conversely, similarly silent ETA rotors are, in my experience, the exception rather than the rule. The only truly Rolex-quiet ETA I have ever seen was the original 2846 that came in my MBW DRSD (which also died within a couple of months). In fact, I am sitting here with a recently serviced gen 3035 on my right wrist (DJ) & a recently serviced 2846 on my left (my DRSD beater). Shaking both watches next to my ears, I can barely hear the 3035, but I can hear the 2846 from about 6-8 inches away (beyond that, I can no longer hear the 2846's rotor either).
  12. Monday's child is fair of face, Tuesday's child is full of grace, But Wednesday's child has pushers
  13. The perfect watch for a woman. Nice work (as usual), Stilty. If you want to save some money without scrimping on quality, you might try an Italian-made Milano jubilee or Oyster bracelet.
  14. Without actually hearing the movement for myself, I cannot tell you whether your existing (or upcoming) rotors are abnormally noisy. However, the movements in rep watches are unserviced & generally require cleaning & lubrication (servicing) the day you receive them. So it is very likely that your rotor is making more noise than it should simply because the watch is in need of general servicing. Check with Ziggy or a rep-friendly local watchmaker (check your phone book).
  15. You asked --
  16. Without good, clear pics of both the dial & movement (showing the engraving below the balance), I think the watch is worth $75-$125. With pics (to verify the watch contains an ETA movement - unfortunately, pics cannot verify whether the movement is a gen or clone though), its value increases $50 or so. Of course, value & selling price do not always coincide.
  17. Yes.
  18. Details please.
  19. Bingo. But I do not think the Rolex factory ever (officially) fitted 580s on 1665s (any version). These would most likely have been installed as service replacements or by an AD or an owner
  20. A mighty fine watch you got there, D. The usual hats off to the Zigmeister.
  21. Ditto that.
  22. I agree with Toad. Check your local telephone book for watch & clock repair & phone some watchmakers to see if they will work on a rep. Assuming your reps have ETA movements (a standard throughout the watch industry for many years), you should not have too much trouble finding a good watchmaker. And before anyone chimes in with 'All ETAs are Asian now'.........1st off, if the watchmaker knows the difference (unlikely) & asks you about it, just say you were told the movement is an 'ETA'. Secondly, assuming you do have an ETA clone, many of the gen ETA parts are interchangeable, so that should not be a problem, assuming you actually have a clone movement (&, as far as I am concerned, the jury is still out on what is out there).
  23. Great classics, rower. You have good taste
  24. I would like to join the fan club for this beauty. Outstanding job, Chief. Every guy ought to own a classic Datejust & your brother should consider himself very lucky to have been given this 1.
