Kudos.....and the plastic hides the greasy fingerprints from those oily suits. I guess it is probably relevant to mention that I wore my DRSD to a local AD over the weekend and tried on some Pateks. When I removed the DRSD from my wrist, casually setting it on the counter, the sales woman just said, "Oh, nice." And then proceeded to show me an even nicer platinum 5127. Nice, but I left with my DRSD....and no fingerprints.

I agree with Doc (on both counts (yes, good luck Pug)). The last thought you do not want to leave a prospective employer with is that you do not need the job (Look at me, I am rolling in cash without you & your stinking job) or that you wear a 'fake' Rolex (in case he/she knows something about watches & thinks you are wearing a rep). I would wear something modest, but nice (think Seiko) or no watch at all. As long as you are on time for the interview, it is highly unlikely that anyone will dock you for not wearing a watch. Oh, and assuming you are wearing a suit (as you always should to an interview) & want to improve your chances of getting the job, it is best to keep whatever watch you wear hidden under your sleeve. For me, it is a Datejust (suit) kind of day VB -- Like the colorful dial, but I still prefer smaller, more delicate watches on a woman's wrist, regardless of what Cher & the tattooed ladies do.

Do you mean 1 of these (Yes, the chrono seconds hand is missing in this photo) After I took my DRSD for a nice Sunday drive it seemed only fitting to swap over to the 6241 for all this Daytona talk. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Arty -- Oops. Sorry to hear about the problems with your watch, but I am sure you will be able to get them sorted out. Josh has some very nice Lemania/Venus-based manual-wind vintage Daytonas, but mine are home-built franken-tonas which I constructed out of the following: case/hands from 'DW' (use the Search to locate a wealth of information on 'DW Daytona' kits); pushers (part no. PD 61.701 white) from Ofrei.com; New Old Stock (NOS) genuine Rolex: 6mm Twinlock crown/crown tube, Tropic 21 crystal & 19mm springbars collected from ebay & other sources; & an old 7835/357 folded link bracelet/end links set that I purchased on ebay & refurbished. Depending on your patience, watchsmithing competence, parts selection & care (as well as luck), it is possible to produce a vintage Daytona that is almost identical to a gen in both appearance & function. This is my 6239 posing next to a gen 6239 that appeared in the special Rolex Edition of Watchtime magazine a few months ago. If it were not for the cheesy-looking bracelet (I would replace it with either a standard rep non-riveted bracelet or a gen folded link 7835) & yellow markers this would look pretty good. Nice overall dial (great COMEX) and crown guards. If only....

B-o-l-l-o-c-k-s! Toss the bastard thing in here and get yourself one of these Yes, a bit Rube Goldberg in design, but it is self-winding (just keep whipping the man & he will keep running the watch) & does not attract too many flies, which, as we all know, is the mark of a truly great timepiece.

I have never seen a list & unless the collector specifically states they personally QC every item prior to shipment, I think it is safe to say that they drop-ship (or perform some variation on that theme).

Doing anything with small chrono hands requires a bit of ingenuity. I usually grasp them with tweezers or between my thumb and index finger (depending on the job at hand). To remove scratches, (while wearing a loupe) I would hold the hand between your fingers and rub it across a Cape Cod cloth. To be honest, I cannot imagine how anyone would be able to see a scratch on a chrono hand (unless it is painted a contrasting color to the underlying metal), especially through the lens of a watch. If the Cap Cod cloth does not produce the required result, try painting it (the hand, not the cloth).

Looks good. Those flattop 3's are sweet. I just hope you have better luck with them than I had (the numbers kept drifting off-center & the adhesive kept gumming up the date-change & keyless works (and I had the same problem with 2 of the Watchmeister overlays)

I am unclear from your response as to whether you have sorted out a suitable replacement clasp or not. If not, I have a rep 93250 clasp I can send you. Just PM me with your name & address and I will get it to you. As for the 'Datejust'.......save your money. It is a complete fantasy & overpriced at half the price.

Those things are very flimsy and often get bent or broken. I cannot offer you a job and it is difficult to tell from your photos, but I think I have a replacement clasp assembly in my parts box that may fit. Can you flip the clasp over to the other side & give me the 4 or 5 digit number to the right of the Rolex insignia? Ah, did you say you have '7 or 8 cars'? I think I see the fly in the ointment..
