  1. Both look Asian (Rolex is made in Switzerland) to me. If in doubt, at the very least, I would insist on good, clear movement pics.
  2. It is RWG policy not to get involved in private transactions between members. However, since so many are hanging on the outcome of this issue - MD2020 - Regardless of past history, this is the time to make right all accounts. To that end, if you are uncomfortable contacting finn directly, please post the status of his watch or watches & any outstanding payments awaiting you or expected from finn. Please leave out the history & emotion, just the facts. finn - As has been said so frequently that no RWG member has an excuse for being unaware, repeated attempts to contact modders/watchmakers or sending insulting/threatening messages is not the way to deal with people. Members have offline lives & cannot always respond immediately. Always give the person 1-2 weeks to respond before attempting contact again. If you push/rush, you are likely to do little more than to become a pest & get your messages ignored. Finally, once MD2020 has detailed the status of your watches, consider the case closed (as far as RWG & this thread is concerned).
  3. My apologies. Yes, MD2020, please contact all with outstanding orders now.
  4. I am better with vintage (Plexiglas) Subs, but, in most cases, the rehaut on gens tends to be very shallow.
  5. paneraiguy - DW's case can be made to fit either movement &, if cost is not an object, the v72 is the only way to go. I would definitely have it fully overhauled & properly adjusted if you want reliability for the next 5-7 years (when the next overhaul should be performed). In any case, I would swap out your rep Triplock crown for a gen (it should fit the same stem as long as the stem length is ok).
  6. MD2020 - Why have you ignored finn's (repeated) requests? Please contact him NOW & settle this 1 way or the other.
  7. If you use a non-GMT calendar ring, make sure you fully test the date function before assembly. As I found out (the hard way) during my Phase 2 '42 construction, the depth of the datewheel channel in the calendar rings vary between the GMT & standard versions of the 1036. When I used the standard calendar ring on the 1036GMT, the date stuck @ changeover. Not sure if the same holds true for the 15xxGMT, but if you use a non-GMT calendar ring & the date sticks...................

Excepting the cheezy bracelet, well done.
  9. Sorry to hear the sad news. To avoid a repeat (in addition to an alarm), you need kryptonite frame locks affixing the bike to something immovable in the garage. Certainly, not a panacea, but the miscreants would require some serious toolage (to cut through kryptonite) to be successful next time.
  10. I think this thread has gotten out of control, so let me add a couple of points - 1st, MD2020 - I get that you suffered a serious loss &, therefore, sending out updates to every customer was not realistic. Still, if you want to be taken seriously in business (& get my vote when the time comes to providing you a forum & official sanction), you cannot leave customers hanging for more than 24 hours unless you are physically incapacitated (or dead). To that end, the appropriate thing to have done would have been to post a 2-line message to your customers in the General Discussion forum stating 2 things - the reason for your delays (death in the family) & a firm date upon which you will be contacting customers with updates on their work. &, then, of course, follow through on THAT date. This will not take more than 1 minute of your time & should not disrupt your personal activities. In my experience, there is no excuse (other than physical incapacitation) for anything less. 2nd, to your customers - I feel your pain. But experience has also taught me that, especially when watches (or cars) are concerned, guys can become pretty neurotic when expectations are not met. But you just have to keep perspective & try not to inundate sellers & modders with repeated messages demanding answers or money. People do have lives away from the online world & personal issues arise that sometimes cause delays & communication breakdowns. My rule of thumb in these cases is to give the person 1-2 weeks to respond before screaming scam or rip-off. At least not publicly. Hopefully, now that MD2020 is back in communication, we have all learned something.
  11. He probably sold them to help fund his watches. Archie is like a wet dog, he barks alot without saying anything & stinks.
  12. Depends on whether you have an Oyster dial (screw-down pushers) or non-Oyster (pump pushers)? For the former, you can use either a 7mm Twinlock 700 (for an early production Daytona) or 7mm Triplock 702/703/704 (for later production). For the latter, only the 7mm Twinlock was used. In either case, the part of the tube that screws into the case is the same, so you just need to match the tube to whichever crown you go with. Once you know which crown, check with Clarks to see if they have the matching tube. Ofrei, JulesBorel & Cousinsuk all sell the tubes (Cousins are generally the closest to the gen Rolex tubes). Be aware that these aftermarket cases are made with little or no QC & fitment problems are common, so there is no guarantee a better quality tube will fit any better than the original did. Only way to know is to try fitting a better tube into YOUR case. It often helps to tap the case threads prior to fitting a new tube. In most cases, this will allow the new tube to fit properly.
  13. Hopefully, he is just on vacation or dealing with personal business. The situation is being officially monitored.
  14. Switched over to 1 of my Newmans on the way to dinner
