  1. Nice franken or, at least, repainted dial.
  2. I still remember hearing 'Paint It Black' coming out of my (& everyone else's) transistor radio while lying on the sand at the beach. Now, nearly 50 years later, I can play the song, at will, on my ipod.
  3. Still wearing my trusty (as in reliable, not the seller) beater
  4. Either you have a franken movement or the plate was signed with the wrong model number (unlikely).
  5. There are alot of people who would pay Patek to work for them. But, knowing their standards, they are probably looking for someone with ALOT of experience.
  6. mrtesting - Not boring at all. If you have only 1 watch, a Sub is 1 of the best to have.
  7. Well, then my money was well spent (I can attach a camera to my 'scope). But yours still looks like quite a serious piece of equipment.
  8. Wow, that is a pretty serious-looking device you got there. I paid nearly the same for my mid-level watchmaker's 'scope (under plastic cover in top right corner of my pic) & mine looks like a kindergarten toy next to yours.
  9. Varies depending on the day, what I am doing, where I am going, my mood & my wardrobe.
  10. It may very well be available, but just not popular enough for most sellers to stock. I would inquire of a few of the sellers here to see if they can source it for you. Otherwise, search google & keep your fingers crossed that you do not get ripped off by a rouge rep dealer.
  11. I would give the entire case a nice polish to soften all the edges. That way, the CGs will look like they have been worn down due to 40-50 years worth of polishings. If you want to take it to the next step, search out a better set of hands, which are the watch's weak point. Otherwise, nicely done.
  12. I see 4 pushers. This could be very interesting
  13. I cannot help with thread pitch, but you can find assortments of pushers on Ofrei as well as most watch parts houses websites.
  14. Sounds like time for a professional overhaul, a common problem for watches with used &/or unserviced movements (ie, nearly all reps).
  15. Hopefully, no one here is silly enough to own any (at least, not paid for). You should be able to locate what you seek by searching google for 'canal street Rolex' (or similar). & before you respond with 'Can you itemize the differences between a Canal Street &........', read Toad's Newbie guide, which is pinned in the Introduction & Rules forum, & then visit your local authorized Rolex dealer (AD) to learn what the genuine watch feels & looks like. You might also locate a copy of Richard Brown's 'Replica Watch Report' (or any of the other myriad numbers of rep watch guides available online), which, while a bit dated, details the general differences between various levels of replica watches. Then, if you have specific questions, post them here.
  16. I do not have a DSSD, but I believe the diver's extension works the same as this.
  17. Unless you have a known gen on hand to make a direct comparison, the best way to tell is by the cyclops magnification. The gen is 2.5x (so the date windows fills most of the cyclops when viewed directly) while most aftermarkets are 2x or less. As always, your best guarantee is to buy the seller before you click the buy button.
  18. Do you have the small, round spacer that fits between the bottom of the dial & movement plate I am not familiar with that particular case, but, generally, without the ring, the movement will sit too low in the case, leaving a gap between the dial & rehaut, which sounds like the problem you are having.
