  1. What model is this? I've got wads of old Revos lying around with broken arms. Don't ask why. :whistling:
  2. Revo 840s for this puppy. The old ones with the dual rivets on the arms. Nothing finer.
  3. How can YOU survive? How can we in the staff survive without our daily massage around the dolphin pool?! The humanity!!
  4. Yes our boss has been doing this many many MANY years. We're fortunate to have him!
  5. Oops! Ken made me do it. He threatened me with being crushed by his left nut.
  6. Does this mean the piano lounge and champagne fountain will be down too?
  7. Well you've opened a bit of a can of worms here. Yes you need a gen tube unless you have a Phong or MQ and then it might work. But the inner diameter of the tube is probably too small so it will need fitting to the crown, if you don't go gen. Then, the 2813 stem doesn't fit a gen crown, the thread diameter and pitch are wrong. So you need a stem adapter to mate the crown to your 2813 stem. And then the stem will need cutting to the right length. I went down this path with an ETA movement and a gen crown / tube and it was the grace of God that found me a stem to fit the crown and my movement. Actually it was a very kind and generous member here. So. Do you want to put that crown on your DG movement rep or is an Athaya crown good enough for far less money? Face facts, it won't be long until you're knee deep into a franken Big Crown build and you'll want to save the gen crown for that.
  8. Oh you're definitely nuts. Spending this kind of money on watches? We're all nutty as squirrel turds.
  9. Sadly, it does look like you bought a knockoff. Make a big wad of duct tape and use it to spin the back off the watch and see if it has a gen movement. Hopefully it does ... but I doubt it. The way the date wheel aligns I'm betting DG or perhaps ETA. Next steps... find that guy you bought it from and politely ask for a refund. *cough* Then, stick around and read A LOT. You can build yourself one that looks even better for a surprisingly small outlay. Then, because you built it yourself, you can legitimately be proud of it and show that bad boy off all you want. Just please not in an Authorized Dealer. That makes the hobby look bad.
  10. Reading between the lines, you're really looking for a birth year vintage piece. But you want the right watch to hurry up and appear, so you're frustrated. You're considering something else as a "solution" to scratch the itch. Don't ever do that. It's not the piece you're looking for, and you will sell it later, lose money on the deal, and regret it, And you'll be right back to where you are today. I've done this many times, buying something that's "almost good enough" and every time I've sold it, lost money, and regretted it. If something is worth having, it's worth working and waiting for. Every one of my keepers involves at minimum 4 years of watching and waiting. One of them was almost 20 years. In the end, it's nice to have the right one.
  11. Notice also the case differences between the 6536 and 6536/1 ... they take different crystals too. Here's how the chapter ring looks on a 6536/1.
  12. That looks like a pretty good MkII dial. Here's one for comparison:
  13. Someone made me an offer I could not refuse to buy one of my vintage watches. The sale was completed and part of the proceeds went toward scratching an itch I've had for a long, long time. This has been about 30 years coming, and now I'm the proud owner of what is the finest sounding pile of firewood I've ever heard. Check out the silking in the top on this beauty. And it sounds 20 times better than it looks.
  14. By-Tor, I used to work security at concerts and when Yes came on tour I'd make sure I was right in front, to see Squire and Howe do their magic.
  15. The man left a giant set of shoes to fill. This piece reminds me of his life, chaotic and brilliant, and then... it abruptly ends. RIP mate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHl6sDLX8tQ
  16. I hunted on fleabay and found one where you can custom order any length you want. I can't find it again but the band is exactly like this one... very nice piece. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=121478236257
  17. And that's for fires you can drive near to. Here it's all helicopter access with extreme remote sites for logistics. The only water for suppression can come from streams or lakes, so you're flying heavy aircraft (PBY5s) or choppers to carry water. Considering that map is 1,000 miles across, it would be billions of dollars to try to fight them. Sorry, but the critters are just going to have to do their best to survive.
  18. Michael Young, aka CWP, is also sometimes known as MY.
  19. Update: I heard from my daughter, she's still in the village, she's one tough chick. She says they got rain and that knocked the fires down a little. The smoke is clearing some so they can breath again. Whew! That's a relief. I'll be in the village of Noorvik up the Kobuk River for a week, and it looks like the fires are calm there. You guys are on your own for a week! Try not to burn this place down, eh?
  20. Natural start for most of them, GenTLe. A few of them nearer to home were caused by idiots that have no reason to be in the bush.
