  1. Holy smokes, it took you 3 months to drive 7,000 miles? Want to borrow my Land Rover? It's faster...........

You don't contact Ivan ... Ivan contacts you. Here's what MQ can provide, but it's a crapshoot if you get a good one, or a bad one. He can do it, but he can be very frustrating to work with. Plus there are serious details wrong with it.
  3. There's a silver Sea Rambler on the 'bay right now at $299, just needs a service, and looks complete.

If you're ready to spend big coin MQ has his top end dial that's made similar to Ivan's. If Ivan is in reachable....
  5. Try a triangular jeweler' file. Soak some penetrating oil into the threads and press the file into the opening, then see if you can unscrew the remnant. You might also try a rattail file.
  6. Roger that. You don't contact Ivan ... he contacts you. On the other hand..... http://www.krdial.com/services.htm
  7. Agreed, that's really pushing the envelope. It has a few problems, who knows? Maybe in 10 years. Of course in 10 years a Big Mac will be $15.
  8. You better be sitting down when you watch this, it will make the hairs on your arm stand up. http://youtu.be/xlXk49Mh7go
  9. Roger that. My Black Lung is my retirement plan... as soon as it hits $3,000,000 it's SOLD. St. Tropez here I come!

  11. Our Admin is an amazingly good tech guy. He's the ubergeek. And he runs this place and pays for the hosting out of pocket. It's a good reason to pay for VIP memberships, boys.
  12. I have a story about a certain Rolexpert with a huge collection of incredibly nice vintage pieces, all with fake dials that fooled everyone. It's not Maron. If I get enough scotch in me some night maybe I'll tell it. Probably not.
  13. I prefer "If it ain't broke ... I ain't fixed it enough yet".
  14. Dang, now I have to destroy my entire collection after seeing that. Nothing else compares.
  15. The best dials are from Ivan. After that, I'd say Kirk Rich... but you send him a genuine plate to work on. After that, it's a crapshoot... a dial from MQ might be junk, but the next one he sends might be spectacular. Likewise, Phong has good stuff but at different price points... his $1,000 dial is made different than his $300 dial. So it's apples/oranges. NDT and InGod have nice dials, but they vary from piece to piece. Which explains the QC pictures we clamor after. It's like finding the pearl among the peas... you might get lucky or you might have to send a few back until the right one comes along. Or you pay the man and get an Ivan ... and it's perfect every time.
  16. True, but consider his folded riveted oyster band is 1/10 the price of a genuine piece, and that takes the sting off it a little.

I'm no expert but I'm having a really hard time believing it's gen. Several alignments between rows of text aren't quite right and the coronet is .........unless it's some new / service / maxi / uber replacement I've never handled.
  18. Busy at work? Yeahhhhhhh didn't think so. Enjoy the Holiday Snowglobe! Just give it a little shake and watch KB fly around the screen. http://www.bfoot.com/assembled/fun/snowglobe/globe.htm
  19. Nah, I saw it beside the stripper pole, KB ... behind those cases of Scotch. Remember when Mike was.... ummmm..... Never mind! "Whatever happens in Admin, STAYS in Admin."
  20. Nice! That's how we roll here in Alaska too (ladies included)
