  1. Heck, I don't have $62k in Monopoly money. Hey I wonder if he would take some CrazySaleCash?!
  2. Not only that, but a rich blue-only insert is pretty darn rare. IIRC that only came out on a military-issued GMT? Nicely done, Ubi!
  3. I *thought* I was an audiophile until a coworker brought me a catalog showing a $13,000 turntable, without the tone arm. I used to run a pair of Hafler XL600s (one left, one right) into Bozak Concert Grands and Klipschorns. Now I've downgraded to a huge Onkyo amp and vintage JBLs and Acoustic Research. When I want to listen to something seriously, I use Klipsch X10 buds. Hearing loss? What's that you're saying sonny boy? Quit mumbling... speak up!
  4. What a kind gesture. Accurate aftermarket bezels for a 1675 are impossible to find.
  5. Okay, after you pick yourself up off the floor, who can name the "Marks" shown here? Top to bottom.
  6. Hey, I personally don't like how the word ROLEX is spelled backwards on the left side in the second picture.
  7. I'm with Ubi on this one. None of my watches (other than my one remaining rep) are newer than 1971 so they're each completely dead in the lume department. As they should be.
  8. Oh, yes, you definitely want to sell that tinny old piece of junk. Did I mention superfluous and unneeded? Can I be first in line?
  9. Do you remember RPS01 from here, many years ago? I had some long discussions with him about the rarity of certain tropics and how once in awhile a group of "unobtainable" crystals would appear, then go away again. I know Andy had a bunch of those, for cheap. Remember the Great Tropic 39 Stampede of Ought Six? There ya go.
  10. I bought a gen T-16 and gen T-18 from Philip over on VRF, many moons ago. I wasn't sure which one fit my case. One was a perfect fit, the other was a bit too small so it was never used. From Ubi's reference that would make the unused crystal a tropic-18. It's gen, with a gorgeous dome, and quite expensive... all those years ago I paid $350 for it. So if you decide to go that route, I'll let it go for what I've got in it... I have no use for it anymore.
  11. I have the answer for the treachery of fakes being sold as gens. The last 9315 I bought went for cheap because it had the previous owner's initials engraved on the clasp. 5 minutes with a DeWalt and a disc sander and voila' ... initials all gone, problem solved.
  12. In this case, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Nice!!
  13. Spectacular! Boy that case has a nice shape to it. Well done!
  14. Curiously, that is actually a way to authenticate a genuine 9315 folded oyster. They originally came from the mountain gnome Rolex huts with that misspelling. So now we have people replicating errors to make their fakes look more genuine.
  15. I've got Mary hot on the trail. If they're available, she will know.
  16. Pffffffffft. It's easy to get snap-on backs off. You just need better aim than I possess.
  17. Freddy, I wonder if he switched the photos of the "finished" side of the clasp? The grooving in the right side is far better than the left photo.
  18. Wow, I think in most of the photos, the fake looks better than the gen. I'll take two, please!
  19. That was after all the previous snow turned to ice from the rainiest November on record! I received 2 feet of snow at my house on Thanksgiving Day. Another 6" the next day, and another foot over the last 24 hours. LOVE IT!!!
  20. From this weekend, the Wooden Ski Classic. Perfect snowy conditions and single digit temps made for a perfect day. Note to self: next year move the bindings a bit further forward This is called "defying the cold" Miss Understood chasing Nanuq up the hill? Maybe we can get her to be Miss Understood next year? Hey where's the "go fast" switch on these things?
  21. Guaranteed to make you sleep like a baby, in 20 minutes or less. tugofwar_and_infinity_fractional_laplacian.pdf
  22. Absolutely spectacular Ubi. It boggles the mind, how you do these. Each one is a work of art. Er, a work of Ubi!
  23. Well said. Here's something I read once at an Eagle Scout court of honor. It Couldn't be Done by Edgar Guest Somebody said that it couldn't be done, But he with a chuckle replied That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn't be done, and he did it. Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that; At least no one ever has done it"; But he took off his coat and he took off his hat, And the first thing we knew he'd begun it. With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin, Without any doubting or quiddit, He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn't be done, and he did it. There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done, There are thousands to prophesy failure; There are thousands to point out to you, one by one, The dangers that wait to assail you. But just buckle in with a bit of a grin, Just take off your coat and go to it; Just start to sing as you tackle the thing That "cannot be done," and you'll do it.
