  1. "All" the style of a Rolex? I daresay not! Hmmph!
  2. Little birdy told me so...
  3. Crystal = Rolex tropic 39 service replacement.
  4. Best days behind?! I think NOT. Life is just getting better, me bucko. Perhaps a little slower, but hey ... that's just a reason to ring up the kids and have them come help the old man fell trees and split wood. Yep, my kids love me. AND the splinters they get on my behalf.
  5. Symbolic? Oh, well then that's easy. You're the old timer under glass now, and she's the brilliant electronic and incredibly precise model looking at you like "geez, old timer!" Hey I have a daughter too!
  6. I get it! I get it! The clock lights up, and your daughter makes you light up! Are you saying you're a digital clock?
  7. There's just something about a Tudor Sub ... especially a Snowflake!
  8. I was bidding on a moderately thrashed 9315 and asked the seller to cancel my bid when I realized it was too small. The sale has ended at $1.00 so there was no interest. It may still be available. Thrashed 9315 parts
  9. Red, our prayers are with you. This was a giant of a man, and I sincerely hope you can hold his hand one more time.
  10. So THIS is the ultra high priced piece JoJo has his eye on! Tasty! Verrrrrry tasty!
  11. Hmmmmm, I'm sensing something pretty spectacular looms just over the horizon?!
  12. Sort of like a La Brea Watch Pit?! I love it!
  13. I have my collection pared down to six pieces that have enough emotional connection that I won't part with them. There are three that don't get my respect anymore, and they're disposable. I wouldn't really miss 'em, and I'd happily sell them to fund another. Only recently I allowed myself to increase the stable by one, as I finally found a piece that I'd been searching for years. Now I'm done... there's nothing else out there that I need. ...........I think.
  14. Every time I think we've reached a high water mark in the extremes to which we'll take this hobby, a post like this shows up. Simply astounding.
  15. Sweet news about the 702! Can you provide a link? (I'm not registered anyplace but here)
  16. I found a picture of an all-original MkII from 1971 with a brushed steel datewheel, flat threes and open 6 and 9, if that helps?
  17. Thanks for the post... this is exactly why we exist. Out the scammers and give thumbs up for the good guys. Also remember the feedback mechanism for describing transactions with other forum members.
  18. I went with gen 703 crown and aftermarket tube on the last couple builds, and one is smooth as a baby's butt and the other is sorta rough. But gen tube/crown??? Works every time. Someone was selling a very tasty 702 set here a couple days ago. That's how I'd roll for vintage.
  19. That's a beauty, BT. Very nice! It's hard not to sit and just stare at those beautiful old movements.
  20. Not "flat" like a t-127 but also not nearly as domed as the original t-39. The GW had a flatter crystal than the DR, except for very early GWs. Think more of that dome than Superdome when you hear the words t-39 service replacement. Two gen t-39s, service replacement from early 70s on the left, superdome t-39 on the right.
  21. Hey now, who says an insert has to be faded to look nice?
  22. Yes the rep crown is far too big. Replace it with a 703 crown and aftermarket tube and it will feel nice and smooth as you screw it down tight. Otherwise the winding etc will feel the same. Be sure to relieve the case so the bevel of the tube has room to screw in, else the crown will stand off from the case too far and the tube won't be correctly seated. The Clarks will look very close to what you have now. Flatten your insert so it's not as conical, and that will increase the height of your crystal sidewalls. If you really want an obvious visual difference you have to go gen, and that will run $300 to $500 for a Superdome. A service replacement dome T39 will likely be around $150 or a little more. Either gen crystal will be noticeably better. Whether they fit your case well remains to be seen.
  23. Here ya go, ol' buddy ol' pal... a fraction of the proceeds from CrazySalesMan's most recent XXLDRTRLWWW sale.
  24. Rats, JoJo is on it. Okay, I'll go $300. Hey JoJo you don't want that piece of junk. Did you see the background in the picture? That's a really important piece of something that fell out of the case. Honest. I think it's called the knurbulator flange. Definitely busted. Just walk away.
