  1. Sorry for chiming in late, I'm just back from the gym! (yes I want to be like Lani) That's a looker for sure! The replacement crown looks great, it's easy to paint the bezel, an aftermarket Beads bracelet is likely smarter than an original wimpy one, and you ought to be able to work through the GS catalog and find a replacement crystal for it. What a score! With the "sailboat" back... a GORGEOUS "USD" Pro. Congratulations!
  2. Yep it's snarly old me again. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. That watch was pressure tested to its max rating, then within a month it failed at 80 feet and flooded. It was rushed to a RSC (code blue) and they fixed it up good as new, which explains why it now wears a "flat" T39. Moral of the story: check your watches ... often
  3. Great news! Thanks for the update.
  4. This one has been tested to 59 atmospheres and I still won't take it in the water. Call me a wuss!
  5. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... I only wear watches in the water that I am not afraid of losing. Or if they are very easy to get fixed, if I ruin the movement and discolor the dial. 'Nuff said?
  6. I'd think a well used quartz DS-3 would go for less than that automatic DS-2 did, considering it was in really fine, all original condition. Just my $.02 There's another older version of the DS with the domed crystal, and if that's what was for sale, there's no way I could have passed on it. (borrowed picture)
  7. Yes, it went for a paltry $442. I watched it right up to the end, and almost bid on it, because it IS a cult watch. But I already have so many that fit that description, that never get worn, I thought I'd let someone else have a go at it. It's from the 1970s.
  8. Lani, TELL me you won this gorgeous little number over the weekend?
  9. I don't have any spare BOR links lying around, but if I run across any, I'll let you know. Sweet trio! Now you just need to buy Brian's 300 "no T" Searambler for a paltry $4,000
  10. Thanks Freddy, curiously this one has the narrow center links (domestic) but also hollow rivet heads (Swiss). The clasp leaves are missing most of the writing you expect except for the stamped "77". Likewise the endlinks are not stamped with a number, but are also not attached the way Yuki does, with the strange little "step up". I'll see if he will let me take a camera in there for some closeups. Or what the heck, maybe I'll just buy it and if it passes muster I'll pass it along here. Otherwise it goes on the 'Bay!
  11. How does the PT dial look in an MBW case??
  12. My local watchmaker has a piece of history sitting on his display case, for a GREAT price. Let's see if anyone's interested. Of course preference will be for members I know, or have had dealings with. What he's got: it's a genuine Rolex riveted/folded expandable Oyster bracelet, circa 1977. At first glance it appears to be a 19mm because it has the "narrow" center links. It measures up to 20mm but it has the narrow center links, and the hollow rivet heads... this makes it a European market folded/expanding Oyster. The bracelet is in fine condition, refinished and brushed, polished on the inside face. The clasp looks very good, the leaf is stamped "77". It has ten links total... suitable for a small wrist. He has no additional links for it. There is very little wear, it's fairly tight and sound. His asking price? Better sit down... $350. If you're seriously interested and I know you, or know OF you, I'm willing to pick it up for you and pop it in the mail. PM me please if interested.
  13. Is it xia 3G or your home wifi or....? If 3G perhaps AT&T has a DNS issue with RWG? Sent from my iPhone.....
  14. Gents, at a user's request I edited henrik_6's post to remove personally identifying information. Somehow that user's personal info was made public by his domain registrar, after he had requested and paid to have it kept private.
  15. Nicely done! It's amazing what you can do with a Seiko.
  16. Wwarren and Krusty, verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry nice vintages!
  17. Gee I hope the stickers can't be peeled off the back and stuck on another watch.
  18. Did anyone get anything out of their fax machine this morning? I have a thin line, but it's BLACK. I think someone's quality control is down the toilet! @chris, good spot! Sure enough it's a 300 "no T" Searambler, great shape, way overpriced. Doxa 300 SR
  19. Holy smokes, Offshore.... now you've got him out of hibernation!
  20. Holy smokes Offshore, do i hear CrazySaleMan coming over the horizon?!
  21. Thanks Bike, yeah I've had the back off and sure enough it's a v72c. Ubi knew something about it that I'd never heard, maybe he'll chime in here? It's the only one like it I've ever seen. It was given to me years ago by a dear friend, who got it from his uncle, who had worn it for decades as a pilot. Ziggy went through it and had to replace a broken staff, now it keeps nearly perfect time. Interestingly, the movement comes out the front of this one. It breaks my heart to say it, but my friend died last week and the funeral was today. So that one holds an even more special place to me now. Godspeed, LAC
  22. Ask, and ye shall receive. Pretty unusual design for a Doxa, eh? It even has a TRL!
  23. How about a Pre-Breitling? This is a triple-date AOPA Gigandet chrono, from juuuuuuust before the Navitimer happened.
  24. There's also an exceedingly rare 600T Searambler out there...
