  1. Oh, great... Offshore has been salivating over that very watch and now the cat's out of the bag! As expensive as those things are, I wonder if he needs a Pool Boy? Butler?
  2. Thanks! What the photos don't show is the next day... it rained Pekingese and Persians for the 18 mile hike back. It just proves the point, "you can survive anything for a day".
  3. This is on the up-and-over hike from Primrose down into Resurrection Bay.
  4. This is partly due to the factories' lack of detailed knowledge of watch models. For example, the MBW 1665 case has the famous "droopy" crown guards and the 9:00 side of the case slopes inward toward the top. The gen case has neither of these details. But my gen 1680 is exactly like this, so if they used that case as the basis for the 1680 and 1665, the Sea Dweller is going to be wrong. Just an example. Why are the crown guards so fat and chunky? Well, look at this and tell me if the MBW crown guards (front) are close to gen (back). These CGs are straight from Maria's smoke stained hands:
  5. "Too cold"?? What's that?! I love it! Zoooombaaaaah!
  6. Here's an all-original setup on an early 1665.
  7. Verrrrrrrrrrrrrry nice! I much prefer the watch without the cyclops. A small point with terminology, the "superdome" is a massive humongous domed crystal fitted to early 1665 Sea Dwellers, and the later ones still used the tropic 39 like you've got, but it was much "flatter". The one you have is the flatter, more contemporary T39. And it looks GREAT on this watch!
  8. Yeah he's still a McNugget, probably not more than 6 feet at the shoulders. It's very common to see that. We had an old moose in town for years that we named Buzzwinkle because he'd get drunk on fermented apples or mtn ash berries, and stagger around town falling asleep in the parks or peoples' yards.
  9. Nope they are not friendly, they are 2,000 lbs of ornery. If you walked over to pet him, he'd put his ears back (bad sign #1) then his hackles would go up (bad sign #2) then he'd put his head down and start moving toward you (bad sign #3). If you weren't running by then, he'd kick you clear out of your shoes, then stomp you until you weren't a threat any more. Moose can kick forward ... big surprise to lots of Cheechakos.
  10. Moose in Alaska are so smart, they wait for the crosswalk sign to change.
  11. Are you kidding? Do bears poo in the woods? Sign me up for at least two pairs for the 1665.
  12. Very nice! I especially like the caseback. Hang onto that beauty for awhile.
  13. Okay let's try this one... which one is the rep?
  14. Draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagging this back on topic (sorry, O/S) is it true that a good slot-head screwdriver will have vertical and parallel sides where the bit end begins? The ever-wise Grampaw Nanuq used to tell me you use a stone and oil to square up and thin the tips of your screwdrivers once in awhile so they "bite" better. It seems to work for me.
  15. An Alaskan nail file can also double as a watch box! An Alaskan Nail File
  16. Nice writeup! But sometimes I wonder if we don't tend to overanalyze problems? For example, here is my set of screwdrivers. They come in various sizes, and when gentle persuasion fails you can always use the second technique (other side) to get the screws tight. Nanuq's Screwdriver Set
  17. A true man of integrity! That's a fine generous offer. @Deltaho, that's not a rash, it's where the skin is growing back after I reached down a bear's throat to retrieve my favorite watch. Stinkin' bears will eat anything!
  18. That is very, very good. Aside from the pointy 4, they got the crippled "R" right and flat top "A" with tiny serifs. Is that DW's latest? I am impressed.
  19. Ahhhh, I see how this is playing out... Gee Bike Mike, such a shame you didn't win this auction, eh?! Show us the goods when you get back!
  20. Well in the end I think it's good none of us got tangled up in that mess of an auction house. It's just too much money to play those kinds of games! The watch is a beauty. I'll see if it pops up on the SWFIBB.
  21. Yes there is some strange behavior on this one for sure. But I called the ending price pretty close eh??
  22. An observation from one of the two gents I know who own Conquistadors: "Must admit - this is fishy - note to bid you need to give credit card details that will be charged 20% of hammer price immediately - so a BIG FAT SCAM ??? There's another story similar to this appeared on another forum - WTB ads getting replies of "i have what you're after bla bla" - a guy just got stung for
  23. Two photos showing a standard Sub 300T case vs. a Conquistador case. These are SO rare that I don't think anyone could get their hands on a gen to make the rep!
