  1. Doxa is definitely not everyone's cuppa tea. But you should see the boys over on the SFWIBB wetting their panties over this thing. I've got my two domed Sub 300s and this one is the "flat" Sub 300T which is very nice, but I have enough orange Doxas. Someone worthy (Lani) needs to buy (Lani) this piece. It's a verifiably RARE collector's (Lani) piece.
  2. Freddy, there's one "tell" that shows it's a Conquistador: the HEV at the 9:00 position. It's the only cushion case with a HEV. And it can't be cobbled onto a standard Sub 300T because there's no "meat" in the standard case to fit the HEV into. The guys over on the Site From Which I've Been Banned (SFWIBB) have seen the photos and it's not Granite's watch or Pete's so it's got to be Conquistador Professional #3. Man, what a flippin' steal. It's a grand less than the last Black Lung went for!!!!
  3. Thanks Bike Mike! That's what makes this place great. Seriously, someone here needs to win this.
  4. Gents, here is a huge opportunity. This is THE rarest Doxa, the Conquistador, the only one with a HEV like the Sea Dweller. This watch is the 3rd orange dialed Conq known to exist, and it's up for auction the next 7 hours or so. SEVEN HOURS. Current price is approx. $2,300 A steal. Read the details carefully, it requires local pickup. But still... a Conquistador? Doxa Conquistador
  5. Enjoy, lads ... there's some gorgeous stuff here. Vintage Rolex and Tudor yumminess
  6. I know, I should have warned you before I posted that photo ... I hope you didn't claw your eyes out?! I'll second your observation: EEEEEEEK!!
  7. Not to mention the lovely green luster of MBW's coke bottle crystal!
  8. This topic just screams for photos. C'mon man, let's see this beauty!
  9. Here's the Big Crown case from MBW, fortuitously provided in another post today. Now here's Yuki's case again.
  10. When the Rolex Mountain Elves stepped outside for a little smoke and accordian music, Hans asked them for the Rolex Official Opinion of the never-ending silver datewheel search.
  11. How about a Friday Toesie instead?
  12. Don't forget the age old trick of drilling partway through each lug from the outside in, to give the visual perception of big yawning lugholes, with their inner edges remaining small so the undersized springbars don't flop around.
  13. As long as I'm recalling correctly (help me out here Freddy) the MBW case when viewed from the side has the crown tube exiting comically low on the side. The tube should be vertically centered in the "meat" of the case, with the crystal/bezel extending above the case deck and the back extending below the case. The MBW has the tube extending from the case way down at the level where the caseback screws on. Not even remotely accurate. You can spot it across the room.
  14. FANTASTIC idea! I had His Zigginess do some serious aging/polishing shaping to get a nice worn look to the knurled coin edges last time it was there, and it came out as nice as those cookies. But I've been chafing over the steely glint. I need brassy yellow-ness and then I can sleep at night once more.
  15. If I remember, the MBW case is far too thick and the crown tube extends far below the case centerline when viewed from the side. It's not even close to accurate. I'd get the Yuki parts and wait for the movement to come along.
  16. All right, spill it. How'd you get the brassy tint? Mine is polished down and aged so it looks old and worn, but it's all sparkly steel color. I neeeeeeeed that brassy yellow.
  17. Okay, instead of reaming it, how about chucking up a very thin jeweler's rat-tail file and using a dremel? Like Ubi said we're talking thousandths here to make it fit. Heck, even a drill bit might work if you could insert it so the spin didn't catch the open edge where the sheet material is folded over.
  18. If anyone's looking for fairly high quality 455b endlinks, here's a source for $40. A bit spendy but they're not too bad. Ebay bracelet with links
  19. I noticed Yuki has a "white copper" bezel for the 6542 case set. I asked if he had the same for a 6536 and so far, no luck. Man it will be sweet someday to get a bezel that looks original for the 653x. My machined stainless MY bezel is nice, definitely better than no bezel, but I'd love the old "plated brass" look. Maybe if enough people ask him about it.....???
  20. That thing is scary good. Wow. So why hasn't anyone approached this from the other direction? How about drilling the tube in the endlink? Or pressing in a tapered reamer and opening it by force? We're not talking much additional room here, and for a hundred clams you can do some experimenting. I know I plan to. I've got a 6536 that's just begging for one of these.
  21. Nanuq takes aim, he flexes his mighty biceps... the pitch... he swings, POW! HE HITS ONE OUT OF THE BALLPARK! Wave bye bye to the nice spammer, he's gone.
  22. You bet. We'll make it happen. Give me a jingle when you're ready.
  23. Uh oh, TT is here! Okay everyone knock off the mentions of false moustaches! Wait... Am I the only one...? Uh oh... Looks like I better take the lad out to dinner! Where's the digs tomorrow night, Chief?
  24. Hey I made the same mistake when s/he first joined and I'll make it again! I'm nothing if not consistent.
