  1. With a tip of the hat and thanks to Volker Vyskocil at www.ClockWatch.de, I present... The Paul Gerber Flying Tourbillon
  2. Don't envy too much... this fell in one day on April 25th. But the cold weather also opens up whole new avenues for exploration!
  3. All's well that ends well... except I apparently have to get rid of my car with its penis-size-compensatory masculine name. Drat. So what's next? A Hummer? That sort of reminds me of a little birdy. Chronus does make a valid point: this is the same as fake sunglasses... they may look the same but they don't filter out UV as well as the gen, and your retinas get fried because they are dilated, yet not protected. A phone might look the same as gen, but who knows (or can measure) what it is emitting? I vote for spending the extra money and getting the real deal when it's something like this. Never EVER scrimp on life saving/preserving gear.
  4. Yes, we get the same thing here, the "Pineapple Express" blows in from the Pacific and we get huge storms, sometimes with incredibly warm wind. 2 winters ago we went from around zero to the 50s in about 4 hours. All the melting snow then froze again and we had GREAT pond hockey! How high do the snowbanks get? 2 winters ago we got 93 feet of snow at Alyeska. Last winter was almost that much but not quite. I'm hoping it goes big again this winter!
  5. Welcome aboard! Don't get too worried about Delta's post... he has the disease worse than most of us. And he didn't even show his reaaaaaally nice stuff either.
  6. Let's see.... snow pictures. Do I have any of those?? Last winter Hopefully this winter again Here's a glacier after an earthquake Hatcher Pass a couple months ago Please Lord let it snow a LOT again this winter!
  7. "Finally" arrived? It was -22F here last week. And my dog is digging it too!
  8. Okay I took out the screw and now I have this. I think I liked it better before.
  9. C'mon Pugs, you gotta appreciate my mention of the Pontiac.
  10. Not to overstate the obvious here, but if a very weak (in comparison) signal can penetrate your car's "cage" then who's to worry about a much stronger signal getting trapped inside? If the cage was tuned to resonate with your frequency, then... yeah. But I'm not holding my breath. PS: this dismissal of potential risk does not apply to those driving a Pontiac Tempest ;-)
  11. Sweet! Welcome! -30C? You're worried about tropical climates with your watch? Pfffffffffft. (wink)
  12. You're a cruel, cruel man. JUST as I got the bleeding stopped... you post this? Ah, here's a quick way to get my revenge... look in your last photo, the last semi-link just before the clasp. Is that a crack in the center link??? My SD bracelet has had most of the center links replaced because of wear like that. Heads up... don't let that thing fail so you drop your watch!
  13. I wonder if he's had the CG's reshaped? They look pretty good to me.
  14. Ahhhh, pictures of the front. Enjoy! PS: you do understand, this is all tongue in cheek? That watch likely cost more than my house.
  15. I thought maybe it was the toroidal flangellator, but that messed up the sea level subdial??
  16. I bought this new watch, a Gerber and the temperature feature doesn't quite work right. Can you tell me which piece to adjust?
  17. Drat, I was going to go as high as $31 but NOT A PENNY MORE! *hands on hips*
  18. Ah, good eyes... that's a dead whale that washed up on the beach. No wonder the yogis were thick!
  19. Yeah baby!!
  20. MAN you guys take nice photos! It makes mine look pretty pathetic.
  21. Is there a watch anywhere more perfect than a 1016? What a gorgeous piece. EDIT: Wait a minute here... did you say this is YOUR watch? Holy smokes! I thought it was photos of the actual Everest piece from a museum or something! *jaw drops on the floor*
  22. Freddy's picture is indeed a DW silver dial, with 19mm lugs. The Gadgetman picture looks like the earlier, and nearly as formidable, "extraextra" Daytona with 20mm lugs. Both are very nice.
  23. I don't know about the diametric or wall thickness differences. I have seen 39s mounted on Sub cases, with thin Sub bezels, and it looks, frankly, horrible. Way way WAY too tall of a "chimney" leading up to the dome. When I get home tonight I'll try to remember to get out the t19 and a t39 and compare them for diameter and wall thickness at the bottom edge. Lacking calipers, I'll eyeball it to see if it's even remotely close.
  24. Ahhhhh, I see where this is going... you want to fit a 39 onto that gorgeous gilt 5513. It can't be done. So trade it to me for my gooorrrrrgggeeeooouuussss MBW. It has a 39.
