  1. And now for this afternoon, Pina Carmirelli and i Musici performing Le Quattro Stagioni.
  2. Call it bubblegum or earcandy but... Cosmic Thing by the B-52s! Yeah baby!
  3. The Matter Myth and About Time by Paul Davies Philosophi
  4. Wierd! I get that clouding from condensation sometimes because the air is so much colder than my wrist, but that just means I have moisture inside my case.
  5. Here's my 6536 ... no serifs on the indices
  6. @DT Yeah that's got a HUGE dome on it. It's hemispherical... the photo makes it look trapezoidal. It does have a very mild AR coating, but still reflects a lot of light. The best part is, you can use it to deflect bullets if caught in a street fight!
  7. Y'know, boys just need someone in their life that believes in them and is willing to work on stuff with 'em and get their hands grubby. Someone who demonstrates by their actions that the boy matters. As of last month, six of the boys in that picture have now made Eagle Scout and three are working on their own Eagle Scout service projects. I could not be prouder of any of them.
  8. Playing with fire? Naaahhhhhh....
  9. Did anyone else pick up one of these? Wow is it nice! Beefy too. Sorry for the borrowed pics....
  10. Tim was a fool and a braggart that thrived on media attention. He always said that it would be an honor for him to wind up as bear scat. Sadly, the video camera was running as the bear attacked and killed him, and his words during the attack were, shall we say, different than his previously stated position regarding said scat. On the other hand, Charlie's been doing this for 20 years and it's only recently the newspaper here discovered it, then they flew out to his place (against his wishes) and documented the whole thing. Then they published it in the paper, against his wishes, and he got in all kinds of trouble. Now people are at risk because they want to go out and see the "cuddly bears" at Charlie's cabin. Watch the Youtube clip... at one point the cameraman asks "how are you feeling today?" and Charlie replies "scared." That reveals a world of difference between a man with a healthy respect for bears and one who saw them as his "brothers".
  11. Charlie Vandergaw and his bears.
  12. You said it brother. "What we can accomplish together......"
  13. Nice! The day I took this picture it was -25F ambient. Now THAT'S my kind of winter!

  15. Very nice! The 6542 is the one watch that I'd still like to find some day.
  16. Well I've been paid to do it, and I've got 1,000 hours so I guess I qualify...
  17. All babies start out with the same number of raw cells which, over nine months, develop into a complete female baby. The problem occurs when cells are instructed by the little chromosomes to make a male baby instead. Because there are only so many cells to go around, the cells necessary to develop a male's reproductive organs have to come from cells already assigned elsewhere in the female. Recent tests have shown that these cells are removed from the communications center of the brain, migrate lower in the body and develop into male sexual organs. If you visualize a normal brain to be similar to a full deck of cards, this means that males are born a few cards short, so to speak, and some of their cards are in their shorts. This difference between the male and female brain manifests itself in various ways. Little girls will tend to play things like "house" or learn to read. Little boys, however, will tend to do things like placing a bucket over their heads and running into walls. Little girls will think about doing things before taking any action. Little boys will just punch or kick something and will look surprised if someone asks them why they just punched their little brother who was half asleep and looking the other way. This basic cognitive difference continues to grow until puberty, when the hormones kick into action and the trouble really begins. After puberty, not only the size of the male and female brains differ, but the center of thought also differs. Women think with their heads. Male thoughts often originate lower in their bodies where their ex-brain cells reside. Of course, the size of this problem varies from man to man. In some men only a small number of brain cells migrate and they are left with nearly full mental capacity but they tend to be rather dull, sexually speaking. Such men are known in medical terms as "Engineers." Other men suffer larger brain cell relocation. These men are medically referred to as "Pilots." A small number of men suffer massive brain cell migration to their groins. These men are usually referred to as ... "Mr. President."
  18. ofrei.com lists the tropic-19 for a 6538/A. I used a tropic-18 on my 6536.
  19. Ah, pull up a chair, lad. The Doctor of Two-wheelers is in da house. Cheap won't get stolen. Or anything old and funky. Or anything that LOOKS old and funky. There are literally hundreds of good bikes to choose from. I'd go hardtail and even rigid front end... forks are not necessary. A mountain bike will be more durable than a road bike and more comfortable for tooling around. Cheaper too. If the gnarliness factor doesn't matter to you, consider painting the whole thing camo or something. Or bright yellow. Everything but the wheels, gears, chain, pedals and bars. Make it garish. People can't easily resell stolen parts that are painted yellow. See where I'm going with this? Look at Craigslist.... Will get stolen but it's cheap http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/bik/541694914.html This is a good one http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/bik/541518558.html Sweet ride... it'll get stolen in 24 hours http://newyork.craigslist.org/stn/bik/541449005.html Fine commuter... likely not to get stolen http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/bik/541149166.html Another good one http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/bik/541052753.html Coolness... stealability out the wazzoo http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/bik/540828061.html EXCELLENT BIKE (I have one of these and my wheels alone cost more than this whole bike) http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/bik/536015122.html Pick up a good lock... I use a Kryptonite Fuhgeddaboudit. Loop a Fuhgeddaboudit chain or cable thru the wheels and lock it up. This lock has a $3,000 replacement guarantee if your bike is stolen. BTW here's a picture of my new baby.
  20. Nice find! My buddy dove with those characters in the North Sea and he says he spent the best years of his youth trapped in a decompression chamber with a bunch of stinky scoundrels. He too has been "past the dial" with pressure on several watches, and then had one flood at 80' on a pleasure dive. I guess this is why we check our seals every year?
  21. Hey, buddy! Thanks for that bodacious steak! Next time the dead cow is on me!!
  22. I bought a Pugsley for snow biking and did 300 miles on the Iditarod trail. Tonight it's -25F and the skies are clear so I'm heading out again. I got some sunshine today so I snapped some photos. Enjoy! I love it when the sun starts to go down and the snow is orange with blue and purple shadows.
  23. Here's a picture taken at midnight last summer
