  1. So, give us the details! How are you fixing the "A"s?
  2. I don't believe there was any misrepresentation or dishonesty in this case...
  3. Exactly my point! You think it's too pricey, don't buy it. After the watch sits unsold for a couple of weeks, the seller will probably reduce the asking price. Your money speaks louder than your words ever will. There is no need to post "this is overpriced" in a FS thread. Period.
  4. I was thinking the same thing, Rob, but I hesitated to add fuel to the fire. I'm sure the "logic" there is that the pieces are no longer available. The parts to build it, however, can still be had.... It's a conundrum!
  5. I'll ask again, who are WE to decide what is a fair price? I've seen lots of reps sell for far more than what I'd pay for them. Does that mean the buyer wasn't happy with the watch he/she got for the price he/she paid?
  6. Holy crap! I never noticed the "R"s before PAMman. Thanks for that!
  7. I didn't see the original price, but don't joshua and andrew currently sell HBBs for something silly like $700-800 USD?
  8. Well, I posted my opinions in that thread, so I won't repeat myself here. I believe it's just locked and not binned or set to invisible, so people can go read it in the thread. IMO, the only time something needs to be "corrected" or pointed out in a FS thread is if/when something is misrepresented (Asian movement advertised as Swiss, etc). EVERYTHING else should be handled by PM.
  9. Hmmmm, there is something "different" about that crown. Here's my gen 002 for comparison...
  10. Congrats, goirish! Was the new addition due to winning big at the tables? @jmm -- We want pics of the Fiddy!!!!
  11. Thanks, Vic! Yeah, the tan one is my favorite, too. I think it will develop a REALLY nice patina. Yep, that type of punch is what I meant by "pliers" style punch. How does it work for you?
  12. For those that might be interested, Savage has just posted some pre-made SAV straps in all three colors on 'Risti.com and RWI. Mods, feel free to edit if this post breaks any rules.
  13. I bought mine at a craft store called Michael's. You can get the plier style punches from Lowe's or Home Depot, I believe. http://www.michaels.com/art/online/display...oductNum=gc0700 That's the one I use...
  14. I like the ultra-custom look a single hole gives. It makes it more "my" strap, IMO. Maybe I'm just weird. Yeah, I punch the hole myself after I get the straps. Savage's normal straps come pre-punched with more than one hole, he sends them un-punched at my request.
  15. I would email Savage for price enquiries at: savagestraps@hotmail.com
  16. Sooooooooooo jealous! Jay, your collection kills me everytime you post some of your gems. I'd kill for EITHER a 195 or 009, let alone both!!! Hmmmmm, maybe I should have my gen 002 PVD/DLC coated?
  17. OK, after wearing this strap all weekend, I take back all the good things I had to say about these straps in my first post. They are even BETTER than I had originally thought! My tan strap is starting to break in nicely. The strap keepers are good and snug (loose strap keepers that move around as you're wearing the watch are one of my pet peeves!). I was setting in my kitchen enjoying a lazy cup of Sunday morning coffee and inspecting this strap. I have to say the hand-burnished sides are a perfect match to this neo-vintage style strap. The new creased/embossed keepers add a touch of class, IMO. And the stitching! I can honestly say that the stitching on these straps is better, cleaner and more precise than the machine stitching on A LOT of straps that I've owned. I have no idea how he can do this with his hands, but I'm positive there is no way *I* could do it! Wow. I'm absolutely blown away by Savage's recent stuff! I've got an antique tan strap on my 210 from Savage that I haven't taken off the watch since I got it 2 months ago. Great work, Savage!
  18. Those Magrettes look more like Anonimos than Panerais. Good looking design all the same, though.
  19. The print looks a bit grey-ish white to me. The logo is the "long arrow" version which I think was only the first year of the 005, but it looks cool. Overall, I'd say it's easily one of the more accurate 000 dials ever available and may well be the ONLY one currently available...
  20. None of the sandwich dial Luminors qualify as super reps to me. The shape of the 2 and the printing of the L Swiss Made L are easy tells. The sausage/painted dials are much better. Perhaps keep your eyes open for a 2nd hand 104?
  21. Sorry, yellomen, look at my pics. It's a Davidsen dial. Yes, he has correct "A"s on his dial.
  22. With a budget of $150, I'd start with Silix, Trevor or Ruby....
  23. Why would that matter on a sterile piece? There's no gen standard to live up to.... Hey, you know what you like, and that's what is important. Good luck!
