  1. It all depends on how the watch is put together and the overall design. Just like a work of art, it is a personal choice and you can be just as fond of a simple Patek Philippe Calatrava as you can a Hublot BB Chrono with all of it's complications. Seems that most of us have a simlilar eclectic sense of taste in watches from simple to complex and one is really no better than the other.
  2. LordRasta speaks the truth. Any woman who places herself drunk in your bed and expects you to slip her the bone, is not worth hanging on to. You were the gentleman and should be commended, (lack of wood due to drunken stupor not withstanding), and had you gone for it, there is a good chance her reaction would have been the same anyway.
  3. This is not uncommon with rep watches. Very often a good spanking will bring them back to life and if you have a watchsmith, get it lubed and serviced. Like any machine, it does require some degree of upkeep.
  4. Although I now live in Las Vegas, I grew up in this city, having moved there at the age of 5 and lived there for 30 years after. It is where I call home, and will always be for me. Not too difficult to guess where this place is...
  5. Welcome and Howdy, ya'll have a blast now ya hear?
  6. This week, every third Thursday of November, Americans celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving, a traditional way to give pause and express gratitude for all that we, the living have been blessed with that is good. There are so many of us who are fortunate indeed, and there is much that I am grateful for. Life is short, so don't take for granted the good things that befall you. Be grateful and give thanks. BTW..... I am thankful for my HBB rep watch. Not having to spend 20K for a watch that is nearly identical to the real thing is a simple pleasure that I do appreciate.
  7. Looks like someone was showing their watch just a little too much love. ....and when they say "flied lice", they are not kidding!

Just watched "La Vie En Rose", the biopic about the French singer Edith Piaf, who was called the soul of Paris. Her short life of 47 years was an amazing story and this movie was quite wonderful.
  9. Curiosity killed the aardvark.
  10. I am very lucky. The home where most of my time is spent is here in las Vegas, Henderson actually, I also have two homes in Finland, one on a farm the other on the beach, Our 4th home is in Kochi Japan, and that is my wifes, but we share all 4 as that is what married people do. Here is a photo of the Finland beach house, built 100 years ago by my great grandfather. The Gulf of Finland is on the other side of this land that in the winter freezes, allowing one to drive to Sweden across the ice.
  11. They are all good, throw a dart and go with where it lands. For myself, Davidsen is best, although it seems that half his watches need to be fixed in some way. Mine did.
  12. You have to admire anyone who undertakes working on a wristwatch. The parts are so damn small that a person could go blind, or insane, or both. Keep at it though persistence pays, even at the price of sight and sanity.

Hugo weaving a jack-of-nine tales and a plethora of skooby doo doo. Movies are for entertainment, so let's not try to analyze them so much or someone is liable to have a cereberal hemmorage, which will be seen as a comedic overture.
  14. My Father was born in the town of Nykarleby Finland and we still have a farm there which has been in the family for over 150 years. It is in the Vasa region where most of the population speak Swedish,. King Gustav Vasa invaded Finland in the 18th century and this portion of the population,6% of the total for Finland are decendants of these colonists, mostly fisherman and farmers. Finland is a unique and beautiflul country, and having been there more times than I can count, it is a second home for me and it is sad to see extreme mindless violence happen in such a peaceful place. Alchoholism in Finland is off the charts and so is suicide. Oddly enough the highest number of doctors commit suicide in Finland in the world. Could be due to counseling so many depressed people. There is a certain air of melancholy amoung the Finns that is hard to explain. The long dark winters and booze contribute, but who can say for sure? One thing is a fact and that is we live in a very troubled period of history. Here is a photo from summer of 2006. This is the beach house my great granfather built at the turn of the century. I stay there when visiting, and at midnight in the summer while in the sauna, looking out the window, you can see the sun setting on the water. It comes up again after 30 minutes. Has to be one of the most wonderful places on earth.
  15. That does it for me, I will not post here again, nor am I actually posting anything now, because no matter what your eyes are telling you, there is nothing here to read, so please just move along people. Nothing to see here.

A movie that will wake you up and knock you on the floor is the classic " The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover". An all star Birish cast and a jaw dropping ending. This movie must be seen by anyone who appreciates the art of film.
  17. I bought it one year ago.
  18. We who collect rep Pams are fairly well versed in the ins and outs of this watch brand even though we are collecting replicas, the general knowledge base is quite impressive. A couple of days ago, a fellow came into my place of business and I observed him wearing a nice Panerai. I see quite an array of watches every day, and complimented the guy on his pam. He took it off, gave it to me, and it was heavy, let me tell you, "!8K white gold, edition of 150" he said It had a date on it so it was clearly a luminor automatic, but he did not know what number it was when I said that I had a 111 and a 127. (I stopped there), but found it quite something that a person with a 20 thousand dollar watch did not know what it was he had. There are many Pam models and I am able to identify most, but not all, so I had to look up what he had, and it was the Panerai model 180. Funny how people take some things in stride.
  19. The only Davidsen watch I have is the 127, yet it is a thing of beauty, and has to be up there as one of his best.

Good thing that while ordering the cake you didn't slip on your desk and say, "Ouch my Balls", or that would be part of the message as well.
  21. It is interesting indeed how people here are arguing about a watch that at present is sold out. There is no market for a 127 Panerai as it is not produced and if it is inflated, from it's original $8500.00 price to $20,000. , that is due to the secondary, and following resale markets. Anyone paying 20,000 is buying a used watch that has an established collectibility and will always be priced at what supply and demand dictates. There is no supply anymore people, so the price can and will go through the roof. Welcome to the world of rare collectibles.
  22. Jes, but Hublot been bery bery good to me.
  23. So true, value is relative to a persons taste and income. The Panerai 127 fiddy is a classic watch that will continue to climb in value. Makes owning a good Davidsen rep all the more fun.
  24. Welcome to the forum, good choice in a first watch. The Ferrari line by Panerai is a beautiful and accurate rep. If the watch from Silex is no different that Trusty or Perfect Clones, then go for it, always good to save a few bucks and Silex is very respected. Be forwarned, after buying this first watch, you will become an addict. There are worse things to be addicited to of course. This only effects your bank account, at first, however after 20 watches, you will see some guys fall to pieces, babbling incoherently about crown screws and strap buckles. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Sounds to me like a real Hokey Pokey funeral. That's what it's all about!
